time now 6:01 in a couple hours from right now a search will resume for a missing santa rosa teenager. allie rasmus is in santa rosa right now to tell us why investigators are worried this teenager may be a danger to herself. >> reporter: that is because investigators did a search of the teen's computer and found signs she may have been depressed. also were directions to this park. this is spring lake park. this is the entrance to it right here. it's about seven miles away from charlotte molinari's home. today investigators will come back here to continue going through this large area. it's a 300-acre park. charlotte molinari told her family she was going for a bike ride. that was on saturday morning. almost a week ago her friends and classmates have not seen her since then. volunteers searched part of the park by land and air looking for signs of the missing teen. she doesn't have a history of running away but when she left

for that bike ride, she took a lot of her belongings with her. >> she took a backpack which was full of unknown objects. she took her computer. she did at one point have a phone. >> yesterday evening volunteers and investigators also searched through an old rural cemetery here in santa rosa. it's about halfway between molinari's home and spring lake park. searchers will go through that cemetery again today as well as continue searching through spring lake park. that search is expected to resume at 8:00 this morning. live in santa rosa allie rasmus. time now 6:03. overnight news an elderly woman from emery vail is in the -- emeryville is in the hospital after a fire broke out in her apartment. it started in a drier just before 1:30 this morning. a neighbor living in a same complex managed to put the fire out with a fire extinguisher. ambulance took the elderly lady

to the hospital to treat her for smoke inhalation. we now learn east bay police had contact -- on april 7th police say a white cadillac escalade sped down concord. investigators say that suv veered on to the sidewalk and hit 41-year-old soliaman nuri and his nine-year-old daughter. officers pulled over that same suv one week before and cited a juvenile for narcotics and weapons. >> young people maybe they don't know what can happen if they don't drive responsiblely and it's unfortunate that something like this happens. is that how they have to learn their lesson? >> ktvu tried talking to the suspects father outside his home but he did not want to go

on camera. george zimmerman just walked into the courtroom. the hearing is under way. in the middle of your screen is george zimmerman. he's the neighborhood watch volunteer that is accused of shooting trayvon martin. we are in the courtroom live. this is the first time, today will be the first time the trayvon family see george zimmerman in person. now this is a bail hearing. and legal experts and he's been in jail for nine days now. legal experts are saying zimmerman does have a good chance of being granted bail. as you know he has been charged with second degree murder for that shooting in february of trayvon martin. zimmerman said he acted in self- defense. martin's family says trayvon that was unarmed was the victim

in this case. george zimmerman's family reportedly they will not be there physically. they will be testifying on his behalf by phone. again this is a developing story live from florida. george zimmerman in court asking for bail. we'll see if he is granted and we'll have more on the trayvon martin case. after four months of a new years evince accident involving his wife and ross mirkarimi could learn his fate tonight. >> reporter: suspended sheriff ross mirkarimi is raging battles on several fronts be when he goes to court this morning it will be all about getting his job back and whether or not he should be paid while this is being sorted out. the judge has already issued a tentative ruling which gives us a pretty good idea how this will go down.

it's not looking like he will be happy when this formal hearing is done. mirkarimi was suspended after pleading guilty. his lawyers say he shouldn't have been suspended at all because it happened before she was sheriff. he said if he is going to be suspended he should be paid. but the judge issued a tentative ruling yesterday and said this is something -- and went on to say merck roadway moe is not intended to be pay. >> you have a guy with very little funds. it's a very, very tough fight for him. >> reporter: the hearing tee comes up a a hearing yesterday. where a same judge denied that the city attorney should be

good morning. san mateo bridge just about to hold all traffic here at the toll plaza in just a few moments to allow them to help clear this crash on the bridge. just heard the chp talking about it. it's a crash blocking at least two maybe three lanes on the high-rise. that means only a little bit of traffic is squeezing through any moment now we should see slow traffic on the flat part of the bridge. people hearing about this can use the dumbarton bridge instead or the bay bridge. we'll have complete coverage with this even after 7:00. time now 6:25. san francisco man cleared of reckless driving charges is facing deportation. he was arrested on felony charges last month after he drove his suv into the bay near

fort mason. his son and friend were in that car. luckily no one was hurt. the jury cleared him of the reckless driving charge. because he was arrested for a felony his name was sent to immigration officials and they determined he was in this country illegal. . hernandez came to the country from mexico when he was 14. the chicago white sox ejected a child and his family from the ballpark yesterday after the child ran out on to the field in the seventh inning. look at this picture. he appears to be about five years old. the white sox left fielder picked him up and handed him off to an usher. just like that. now they then took the boy over to his parents. that's when the family was asked to leave the stadium after it was determined the little boy was allowed to run up and down the aisle and out on to the field without being stopped by his guardians. it's the beginning of a new

era for the 49ers. yesterday evening the team finally broke ground on the new $1.2 billion stadium in santa clara. you can see members of the city council and team owners the york family all took part in the ceremony. they dug into the exact spot that will be the new 50-yard line. construction crews will be working around the clock for the next two years. the 49ers plan to have the new stadium ready in time for the start of the 2014 season. 6:27. men in marin county have the highest life expectancy in the whole nation. researchers at the university of washington say the average man in marin county has a life expectancy of 81.6 years. the average woman in marin is expected to live 85.1 years which is the second highest in the nation. most men and women in marin county don't smoke, they are

it will be there for awhile. fuel has been started leaking in the san francisco bay. the coast guard has just been notified. stay with us. we'll let you know what happens with this. let's go back to the desk. there is a lot of concern for the safety of a missing santa rosa teenager. charlotte molinari has not been seen for nearly a week. allie rasmus is at spring lake park in santa rosa where the search will continue in just about an hour and a half. allie. >> reporter: i just spoke to the lieutenant and he gave us a better idea of how much area they have to go through with this search. there is two parks they will be going through. one is spring lake park. this is in santa rosa. it's about 300 acres. you can see over there the park rangers are getting ready open up the gates. if we follow this road down about a mile at the base of this hill is another park. that one is much larger.

it's about 2,000 acres. this area is where 13-year-old charlotte molinari told her family she was going for a bike ride. that was on saturday morning. her friends, family, and classmates haven't seen her since then. they searched part of this large area by land and air. she doesn't have a history running away. what has increased the sense of urgency is they did find signs medical farty had been depress -- molinari had been depressed. >> we should increase our efforts to find her. >> we are asks everybody keep your eyes open. >> reporter: volunteers and investigators searched through an old rural cemetery. also looking for signs of the missing team. now again back out here live you can see they just opened the gates to head up to anadale

gate park. coming up we will heading up there as well to try to talk to some of the investigators and this investigation is supposed to start at 8:00 a.m.. live in santa rosa allie rasmus. time now 6:33. meantime specially trained searched teams will be searching southern santa clara county tomorrow. the morgan hill 15-year-old has been missing for five weeks. tomorrow the -- they will also search local reservoirs and other bodies of water. memorials will be held today and tomorrow for those five sailors that died during a yacht race. they will hold a moment of violence before tonight's friday night race. and then tomorrow a memorial flotilla is planned.

they will have bag pipes, a wreath laying, and bell ringing in memory of the five people that were killed last saturday. a black hawk helicopter with four american soldiers on board has crashed in afghanistan. that crash was report in the south ben part of the country. a u.s. defense official says it is possible the helicopter was shot down by enemy fire but still early indications are saying that weather may have played a factor. the military has not released information on who was on board. >> today is one of the deadliest shootings. 13 years ago today two students went on a shooting rampage. they killed 12 students and a teacher and injured 23 others before killing themselves. there is now a memorial not far from the school to remember the victims. columbine high school will be closed today to mark the tragedy. today also marks the

live now. let's bring it up. chopper you are hot. and put the super in please. this is a crash on the san mateo bridge. i'll tell you what happened. someone apparently driving along as a rubber necker just ran into a fire truck and a police car on the eastbound side. now there are two crashes. one crash is westbound on the san mateo bridge. the other crash is eastbound and someone ran into a fire truck and a police car and now both directions of the san mateo bridge are effected. so this is crazy. this is one of those things where you need to avoid the san mateo bridge. use the dumbarton bridge. look at all this slow traffic here westbound. the traffic is backed up almost all the way out to the toll plaza but not quite. we are looking at our camera. it quite hasn't reached the toll plaza. some people are happily driving on to the bridge thinking it's going to be a normal commute and then they will be stuck in this. you don't want to be that

is done. claudine. >> reporter: this court hearing starts in a few minutes from now. suspended sheriff ross mirkarimi was hoping for two things. first he wants his job back. if that doesn't happen he at least wants to be paid while he is suspended. but a tentative ruling makes it look highly unlikely he will get either of those things. this is all fallen hundred his -- it will be up to the ethics commission and board of ss to figure out -- supervisors to figure out if she should lose his job. and if he stays suspended if he should be paid while on suspension. but it's all looking like a long shot for mirkarimi. in a tentative ruling the judge should figure this out scene said he is not entitled to pay.

good morning. the san mateo bridge continues to be our traffic trouble spot of the morning. it looks like this will be closed for some time. westbound 92. a truck was driving ran into a pickup truck and then some fuel leaked out. eastbound on the right. you see that paramedic vehicle there. multicar crash someone driving eastbound apparently not paying attention ran into the back of a chp car that was parked in the left lane. that person or at least one person there was injured as a result of that crash. the chp cruiser by the way ran into the back of a fire truck. there is the original truck that was damaged. you can see it's the costco wholesale truck there. some of the fuel leaked from there into the san francisco bay. and on the top right there. on top left of your screen pardon me. look at the chp vehicle. it was rear ended by a mine knee van. looks like the chp cruise sir a toast.
