down. just moving really fast. >> reporter: a dramatic daytime meteor visible for miles through california. >> i looked straight over here at the sierras and it looks like the sun coming at you. >> reporter: people at the mountains everyone saw the sonic boom as it entered the earth atmosphere. >> it started shaking the house and everything. >> reporter: as big as it looked the piece of space rock wouldn't have been too much bigger than these. 4.5billionyears old. >> these things are like

fossils. >> my thought it was a little asteroid that fell from the sky. >> reporter: a little asteroid that got a lot of buzz. >> has this object been seen as night it would have lit the sky. it would have been an incredible sight. you would have seen the shadows. >> we're entering the season for meteor showers, no special equipment needed, just lay back and look up. mirkarimi's case is expected to start tomorrow. those on the ethics panel are expected to start tomorrow. once the panel is finished it'll make a recommendation to the board of supervisors which will hold its own meeting.

rescue mission, when they arrived at least one person had a minor head injury. >> we're doing probably 15-mile- per-hour and hit a very shallow sand bar and stopped immediately. everyone went flying. myself i went into the radar box and hit my head. it's unclear how many people were on board the vessel. it was difficult reaching the boat because it was in such shallow water. volunteers searched for sierra lamar. among those who turned out to search today were members of an east bay motorcycle club. >> reporter: they are hard to miss with their leather jackets, these are the leather skulls, motorcyclists from oakland. many of them are firefighters and police officers but they are also fathers. >> i've watched it from day one. i have a 13-year-old daughter, so it touches home.

people in san francisco gathered for a celebration at the civic center. the event featured live music, eco friendly artists and food made by some of san francisco's most notable sustainable chefs. they are also speakers on do it yourself green projects and tips on how to make effective green style changes. in berkeley doesens of people gathered in aloni park. they focused on sustainable food. the green festival aims to teach people how to think local when it comes to food they eat. >> stop depending on corporations that use third world labor to grow all their food and transport it up here by petroleum. so if we can grow it together. green spaces make the city look

released from jail. george zimmerman's attorneys spent the weekend trying to secure the money and trying to find a place for zimmerman to stay. the lefty o' doul bridge will be shut down starting tomorrow. details will be available during the project which is expected to wrap up on friday. just in time for the giants to take on the san diego padres. parts of doyle drive meantime will be completely shut down this week. the busy approach to the golden gate bridge is scheduled to be closed on friday night until 8:00 until 5:00 monday morning. traffic on highway 101 and highway 1 will be detoured on the highway road during the closure. during the weekend closure, traffic will be transferred on to a new seismically safe bypass.

american airlines is heading to court tomorrow prompting protest by employees across the country and here in the bay area. the airline is trying to toss out labor contracts with its employee unions. it has said it needs to get rid of the contracts so it can emerge from bankruptcy. american is also proposing eliminating as many as 14,000 jobs. employees are expected to protest tomorrow's hearing. and a demonstration is planned at san francisco airport beginning at 11:00 tomorrow morning. as ktvu's ken pritchett reports, a san francisco restaurant known for good food was among the tpáers -- first to get a facelift. >> reporter: this is geo's rest rapt where today owners, giep and wife linda worked on the kitchen.
