desk. new this morning a man delivering fuel to a gas station in oakland breaks up an armed robbery. lorraine blanco is in oakland this morning with how this could samaritan could hold up. >> reporter: the clerk that took over the early shift here at the arko says she is pretty nervous this morning just before 10:00 last night a woman with a black hoody and gun tried to roll the a.m., p.m. convenient store here. a truck driver delivering gas at the time sprung into action. he grabbed the suspect from behind and knocked the gun out of her hand. >> i heard someone come in and give me your money. i'm not playing with you. i turned and glanced to the right and saw a lady pointing a gun at one of the cashiers. i turned back. canceled my transaction.

started walking toward the back of the store. as i turned back around the gentleman grabbed her and wrestled her out the door. >> reporter: about 140 pounds medium build wearing a black hoody and dark jeans. if you have any information call oakland police. reporting live in oakland lorraine blanco. overnight a firey freeway crash in oakland. the driver is now behind bars. take a look at this video we have. an suv is in there caught on fire after it flipped over on southbound 880 just north of the broadway exit. the driver told officer he rammed into the guardrail after being caught off by another driver. the suv came to rest on the other side of the rail and missed a 40-foot drop below. the driver was not hurt but

arrested on suspicion of dui. an investigation is under way on a truck crash in east oakland. that happened just before midnight in the area of 57th avenue and bancroft. a white pickup truck bust through a wooded fence and damaged two parked cars. the driver stayed at the scene to talk to police. three weeks ago today a gunman walked inside oikos university in oakland and opened fire killing seven people. now students are finally getting ready to return to campus. now the school will reopen its doors today. however, nursing students who were particularly effected will find their classes at uni tech college. they also say counselors will be there to help. >> they have invested their money and time. they have to be able to finish what they have started. >> school founder and president visited the campus yesterday. heidi not speak to the media,

however, he is scheduled to talk sometime tomorrow. 4:33. this afternoon the san francisco ethics commission will hold its first hearing on suspended sheriff ross mirkarimi. those on the panel are expected to decide how witnesses will be heard and how testimony will be viewed. once the panel is finished it will make a recommendation to the board of supervisors. the supervisors will hold a hearing to decide mirkarimis fate. ed lee suspended mirkarimi without pay after he pleaded guilty of false imprisonment of his wife. the board is expected to vote on whether to recognize nadya lockyer after tuesday's vote the boar will have 60 theys to name a replacement to serve until her term expires in

now hopes to bring more attention to the case. there is a new report that pg&e has discovered an old document showing the pipeline that exploded in san bruno had a history of problems. the san francisco chronicle reports that the 1989 memo details an investigation into a leak on the pipeline just about nine miles south of where the san bruno explosion occurred. according to the document the leak was likely due to a defected weld on a seam running along the pipe. that is the same type of failure sited in the san bruno disaster. fairfax lost power yesterday afternoon after a large tree limb came crashing down and knocking down a power pole. the entire pole needs to be replaced and that service is not expected to be restored until 8:30 this morning.

the tree limb came crashing down along cypress and laurel drive. public works crews are closing the lefty oh dowel bridge. the work is expected to be done before the giants night game against the padres. oakland officials will speak out against one of the cities biggest litter problems. state senator lonnie says illegally dumping used mattresses on city streets is a serious health issue. picking up and disposing of the ma stresses wastes city money. hancock is sponsoring a state bill to include a recovering and recycling program for unwanted ma stresses. 4:38 is the time. everyone once in awhile we hear

southwest. it's a sea breeze and right from the golden gate. so everything is in place for a pretty good cools trend. mid 50s. if it wasn't for hayward and mountain view. most locations 55 including santa rosa and san jose. the low cloud deck in place. now we are looking at 60s and 70s. 70s in the yellow. two systems here. one will drop down from the north. this one will inch toward us. it's a slow mover. possibility of showers. especially over the sierra, nevada. cooler and breezy. morning fog, drizzle. a sunny afternoon but temperatures coming way down. there will be a few locations that warm up pretty fast. others with that 25 gust to 37 fairfield we are going low 70s. 60s to the north bay. hayward 64. oakland 64. 70 for san jose 74 gilroy. livermore 72. fog, sun, mild, and then cloudy to mostly cloudy.

there is a possibility of some off and on rain. doesn't look like too much. after that things start to calm down and we'll warm up for the weekend. pam. >> all right, thank you. in april nor easter is dumping rain on the east coast. people are bracing for a foot of snow in parts of new york and western pennsylvania. there is concern that heavy snow could bring town trees and cause power outages. flood advisories are also in place. the spring storm washed out the san francisco giants game against the mets in new york yesterday and a double header scheduled for today. 4:41 is is the time right now. other countries turning to technology to violate human rights. the steps president obama is taking today to help stop them. plus more investigations into the secret service prostitution scandal. another agent is now being accused of a separate misconduct incident.

good morning. lots of low clouds in place. it will be cooler today. temperatures in the 50s, 60s coast and bay. low to mid 70s inland. nato announced this morning two of the service members are dead after a bomb attack in afghanistan. the attack happened yesterday in the eastern part of the country. nato is not saying yet what

exactly happened or releasing the nationalities of the two service members killed. however, most of the nato troops in eastern afghanistan are american. as u.s. forces get ready to leave afghanistan, the diplomatic relationship between the two countries is becoming better defined. the u.s. and afghanistan announced over the weekend a deal has been reached setting guidelines on what u.s. involvement in afghanistan will look like in the future. president obama and afghan president karzai must sign that deal. north korea is threatening what it calls special actions to destroy south korea's government. the north's latest threat was carried out by media this morning. it warns the government will be reduced to ashes in minutes. knock has made similar threat -- north korea has made similar threats against the south before. president obama is

concerned other countries are turning to technology to violate human rights. the white house points to the fighting in syria. iran has given the syrian government technology to track distents. jam vell phones which rebels use to organize demonstrations. in just a few hours president obama will announce an executive order imposing sanctions. he will also create grants for companies that create systems warning people in other countries about deadly government crack downs. time is 4:46. three different congressional committees are investigating the secret service prostitution scandal. so far the case involves 12 agents and 11 military personnel. about a half a dozen employees have lost their jobs. lawmakers predict that number will grow. a top white house advisor says president obama will hold those

accountable. >> the secret service does heroic work. i always felt that way. this is disturbing. we have to get to the bottom of it. >> the 12th secret service agent is being imply skated in a separate incident. he is being investigated for misconduct at the hilton hotel which is where president obama later stayed during his columbian summit. this week a crew from the tv show americas most wanted will be in morgan hill to film the segment on the disappearance of sierra lamar. they searched near the reservoir for any clues. the iron souls motorcycle club row down to help. >> some of them are firemen, police officers, former firemen, former police officers. they have kids also. so they are really empathetic to what happened. >> 15-year-old sierra disappeared on march 16th on her way to school.

her father says he is grateful for the national exposure that will come from america's most wanted. 4:47. the fbi border patrol and u.s. marshals have joined the search for a missing six-year-old girl in tucson, arizona. isabel was last seen in her bed by her parents at 11:00 friday night. they called 911 in the morning after discovering that she was missing. a family friend says police found that a window screen in isabel's bedroom had been knocked out. authorities say they are treating the case as a possible abduction. the search will resume today for a six-year-old new york boy who disappeared more than than 30 years ago etan past went missing in 1879.

when he disappeared the basement was being used by a handyman that man has not been named z a suspect. the mother of a pastor is dead after being shot outside her son's church in colorado. that happened yesterday afternoon outside of denver just as services were ending. police say there was an argument between two people in the parking lot of the church. it's not known if the woman was targeted or if she was caught in the cross fire. >> she was like a mother to a lot of people at the church. you can always talk to mom. >> off duty police officer ran outside the church and shot and killed the suspected gunman. an investigation into the shooting continues. in election coverage this morning five states will go to the polls tomorrow for the first presidential primaries without a major challenger for

myth rom -- for mitt romney. florida senator marco rubio will join romney on the campaign trail in pennsylvania today but he is consistently shot down rumors he will be the vp pick. indiana governor is also brushing aside allegations. >> i think i would send mr. romney a list of people that could suit better. >> newt gingrich and ron paul are still in the race but gingrich has only won two primaries. paul has won none. both also badly trail romney in the race for the 1,144 delegates needed. president obama is expected to clinch -- the president is expected to hit the magic number of 2,778 delegates. he has won each state that voted on a democratic nominee.

the criminal trial of former presidential candidate john edwards begins today. he's accused of using more than $900,000 in illegal campaign contributions to cover up an affair with a mistress that got pregnant during his 2008 campaign. jurors will hear arguments this morning. the trial is expected to last six weeks. today american airlines workers will be demonstrating outside of sfo and several other major airports across the country. they are protesting the claims the only way it can emerge from bankruptcy is by having the union contracts thrown out. they also want to i limit 14,000 jobs. time is 4:51. he lost everything in the japanese tsunami. but now a teenager is getting a prized possession back after it was found more than 3,000 miles

we come back to the ktvu channel 2 morning news. time now 4:53. the coast guard had to rescue several people from a boat that ran aground yesterday. the marine patrol received a call at 9:30 yesterday morning that a boat had run aground in the delta in pittsburgh. when the coast guard arrived one person had a minor injury. this is amazing story. japanese teenager that lost his home in last years daily tsunami is -- deadly tsunami is about to be reunited with one

things returning. and they have. there is low fog and clouds and drizzle. now there is a couple things going on. there is one system to the west. there will be another one dropping down to the north on wednesday. i did look real bullish to me. the system is right there. right there. it's when they align themselves north to south that's a bad sign. but it is increasing the fog and giving us drizzle. southeast wind gusting to 37. the e track hold on the hair spray there. when vacaville get azotous wind at nine. 55 seems popular in there. concord, oakland, san jose was now they are 56. redwood city is 54. and these will be mainly low 70s. a couple little thunderstorms fired up over the sierra. have to keep an eye on moisture coming out of the south. that system is giving us more
