to sell the land for private development. the university says it is used for agricultural research and the protesters are tress passing. the mayer and police chief said officers will be retrained in crowd control. ktvu's rita williams is live with how people are reacting to that idea. >> reporter: it didn't take long after the oakland police department announced the reforms today before the effort was criticized by some occupy protesters. >> i think it is clear they are protecting the rich and not the people and i think the law enforcement needs to think what they are doing. the police chief says the new training of all officers and the new tactics are there to protect everyone's rights. >> it is our duty to protect

motor home. a big rig pulled the line down. she said she staid in because of someone she saw on ktvu. >> i heard on channel 2 about a man and he got out of his vehicle and he moved the cable. >> she was referring to a man who was electrocuted friday night after he tried to move a fallen power line. today pg&e removed the wire and no one was hurt. officials say a man in a wheelchair was struck and killed by a train today at 11:30 a.m. this morning. reports suggest the man fell on to the tracks. he was then struck by a train suffering severe leg injuries. he died at a hospital. muni service was shut down for 2 hours.

we told you about the san francisco firefighters being diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year. now ktvu's john fowler is live in san francisco with the group of doctors who are taking action after seeing our report. >> reporter: we are at station 8 in san francisco. to date, nobody has any idea the effects of the contamination on firefighters. two months ago we told you about cancer among san francisco firefighters. today researchers beginning to look for answers. >> reporter: san francisco female firefighters in their 40s are 10 times more likely to get breast cancer. >> it is shocking to me. absolutely shocking that -- like i said, now i am scared. she has 5 kids, 41 and just
