that, police were called to another shooting, there they found another man in the car on the street suffering from gunshot wounds, the condition is not known. >> they will be changing it and police released their block plan in the 100 blocks of the city where most of the violents -- violence has happened. there will be fewer police in the area focused on west oakland and people in the north oakland hills had complained the reduction led to an uptake in crime. they may be justified and according to the weekly crime report, robberies are up 32% this time from last year and residential burglaries are up 6% and car burglaries are up

safety of our customers, team members and shareholders. mitt romney is expected to sweep all five primaries, coming up at 6:15, the one state where newt gingrich says he has a chance of winning and what he says his campaign will do if he doesn't. alameda county board of supervisors is talking about whether or not to accept that do lock -- nadia lockyer's resignation. today's meeting gets underway at 9:30 a.m. in oakland. suspended sheriff ross mirkarimi said he is optimistic he will get to keep his job. the ethic's commission held a meeting on whether or not

and off those metering lights no problems on the bridge or san mateo dumbarton, they are moving to interstate 880 and northbound 880 traffic looks good driving to the coliseum and beyond that into downtown oakland. still have a problem in sonoma county near 8th, it is a big- rig that got into ahead on collision with a pickup truck and they are having some trouble, they have issued a sig alert if you can avoid the area, 88th street will be closed in both directions until they get that big-rig out of there. >> not a lot of cloud cover coming, you can see thunderstorm activity continues to come and pop up especially over the sierra nevada. measurable amounts in santa rosa, they are found in ben low man, there is a lost moisture

. los angeles police chase of a woman climbing into a moving car and police dogs helping in the arrest. she jumped into a white mini- van after a burglary and police say it looked like she had a gun and with that chase still happening, she climbed into the window of a van. when the van stopped, the woman surrendered and franklin would not come out but they sent in the dog and then the suspect came out. police say franklin is a serial

bank robber and was out on parole. florida city commission has rejected the resignation of the police chief. they gave him a vote of no confidence involving the shooting of trayvon martin. >> newt gingrich might be able to eek out a win. >> pam, newt gingrich has made more than a dozen campaign stops in delaware and even though his campaign is more than $4 million in-debt, he is impossiblely behind in delegates and has won some key endorsements and he is hoping

internet video called invisible children. one of the children featured who is now a young man will testify at the hearing this morning. also on capitol hill, the senate judicial committee will vote on the immigration law. it requires anybody arrested stopped or detained who they suspect of being an illegal immigrant now today's senate committee comes one day on hearing whether states can adopt their own immigration laws or if the federal government has exclusive jurisdiction in the matter. police and volunteers will return to a landfill to resume the search for a missing six- year-old girl. she was last seen when she went to bed at her home in tucson.

detective say her window was open and the screen was missing. the girl's mother was at working at the time. police have been interviewing sex offenders in the area. they have started notifying parents in the morning and in the evening if students do not show up to class. this happened after the missing sierra lemar, she disappeared on the way to her morgan hill school. the school system will now call parents and notify them of any inn excused absences in addition to the regular 6:00 a.m. notification. the officer was a loan conducting a follow-up investigation near dover avenue. investigators say there was a violent struggle between the officer and the 51-year-old suspect.

during the struggle, the officer shot the suspect and he was pronounced dead at the hospital. police say that officer is a 16 year police veteran. he has been placed now on administrative leave. in a few weeks, 90,000 californians will lose their benefits and this is because they no longer qualify for benefits known as fed ed. this is for long-term unemployed and they no longer are eligible because the unemployment rate is not high enough. now workers say they will keep wearing stickers with the letters wt f and when they go back to working today. workers who refuse to take off the stickers were sent home. the stickers are part of a

union activity that is protected by law. at&t officials would not comment on camera but they did send an e-mail and they say they are not appropriate dress for those who working in public view. sal has an update on that big-rig crash. >> that's right, in sonoma county, let's go to news chopper 2, there is a badly damaged vehicle after ahead on collision in sonoma county, you can see this is highway 121 near 8th and we have been telling you about this news chopper 2 is looking at the damage over this bridge. all the lanes are closed and it looks like a really violent collision and we are surprised to hear although there were injuries according to first reports they were not considered life-threatening in this pickup truck and another car involved in this head on crash in sonoma county.

>> i love when there is good news. thank you for joining us on ktvu channel 2 morning news, it is already tuesday april 24th, i am dave clark. >> and i am pam cook, now 6:31. scaling back anticrime plans, this comes as officers investigate two overnight shootings. here is more on the plan, allie? >> reporter: well oakland police may be changing their crime prevention strategy. first i want to tell you about the shootings and the first one happened on hawley street just after 10:00 last night. when officers arrived, they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. they are expected to survive their injuries but one man saw and heard all the commotion.

>> it sounded a lot like a gunfight. the earlier shooting just after 10:00, the condition of sherm mall and burr is not known at this time. they have used the 100 block's plan and the idea behind it, mostly east and west oakland. while that was going on, oakland hills had complained it took police resources away from their neighborhoods leading to an uptake in crime. san francisco police maybe leading away from the 100 blocks crime and they will be replacing fewer officers and returning many to their original beats and patrols in the other parts of the city. according to the weekly crime

report, city crime and robberies and homicides are up, residential burglaries up 6% and homicides are also up in oakland from a year ago up 19%. we have contacted oakland police spokespersons trying to get more information about this apparent crime prevention change, we will hare back and get that information back to you. allie rasmus, ktvu channel 2 morning news. 30 miles across the pacific, the yacht that was involved in that deadly crash on the fairmont islands is now back on land. she will show us the incredible video of this very difficult operation, tara? >> yes, it was quite half rowing. you can see behind me the helicopter that was used to raise that boat in the air. it was a delicate on rags where

. time now 6:44 here is a quick look at some of the stories, we are right outside the wells fargo in san francisco, our cameras are panning outside the building and look, there are protesters camped outside wells fargo of headquarters this morning. late this morning, organizers will try to shut down the wells fargo shareholders meeting and they are calling in executives to pay their fair share of taxes and police are out there, protesters are outside wells fargo in downtown san francisco and ktvu channel 2 morning news' cameras are out there live and we will keep you posted on what is going on. police are investigating whether two overnight shootings are connected. minutes later police rushed to another shooting less than two miles away. they found a man sitting in his

car and all three of those victims are expected to survive. five states hold presidential primaries today, connecticut delaware, new york pennsylvania and rhode island. mitt romney is expected to sweep all five states. newt gingrich says if he doesn't do well, he is going to reassess his campaign for the white house. a physical sight, a teenage girl walking along and suddenly the ground gave way, this happened in china. take a look this cab driver witnessed her fall found her lying at the bottom of an 18- foot well. he jumped into the pit to see if she was okay. both had to be pulled out by firefighters and the girl's family tracked down the cab driver to thank him. city council will discuss

the latest efforts to sooth the psychological wounds left by the san bruno pipeline disaster. they say it should be torn out of the neighborhood and many pushed for the removal after the explosion and fire that killed eight people. but up until recently, pg&e plans to plug that with concrete so it would never carry natural gas again. wesley howard shermantine has drawn a new map where he claims more human remains are located. he sent the map to bounty hunter leonard pad diller. he claims loren joseph herzog may have killed dozens of people and leonard offered to pay wesley howard shermantine

to give him information leading to where those victims are. >> i want to make sure in my own mind that it is not a situation regarding somebody and he's feed willing it back to me as one of loren joseph herzog's victims. >> investigators dug up a well and identified three more victims. only on two, researchers are looking for answers why female firefighters in san francisco have a much higher rate with breast cancer. they are more likely to get breast cancer and that story alerted them to the problems. researchers say for 150,000 dollars they could start a pilot study that could lead to some answers and they are looking for grants right now. this is out of this world.

reports of a burglary and they found young people spraying graffiti on some buildings and they arrested him hand seized the spray paint. the owner was cited by public health inspectsers for public health violations. today owners are expected to explain how they will make changes and when they will be complete. the american idol contestant will be honored by the city. the 17-year-old is a high school student who was voted off american idol earlier this month. there are still six contestants left and by tomorrow night they will be singing songs by one of pam's favorite groups, queen. now make sure you tune in
