work its way up. a lot of cloud cover over us. our system is leaning more toward the south bay and east bay. live storm tracker two shows the system on 101. we'll talk about temperatures coming up in five minutes. now to sal. >> we are looking at interstate 880 here in oakland. usually the way this commute goes it looks good until 8:00 then everyone gets crowded here. this commute gets going much earlier. about 6:15 or so. we have a complete update in a few moments. we are following developing news a body has been found in bo toga bay. lorraine blanco is there on the scene with the recovery efforts and information. >> reporter: the sonoma county sheriffs department is out here right now securing the area.

they are about 1,000 yards from us up on a cliff. the ocean is on the other side of that cliff. when the sun comes up, crews will be back here to bring the body out of the water. investigators don't have a lot of information to share with us. they do know it's a mans body lodged in rocks. a couple of people discovered the body while they were out taking in the scenery here. several departments responded. this is a pretty rocky area and very dark that is the reason authorities did not remove the body last nigh. instead of moving it authorities secured it. we are out here live. allysine this morning oakland -- also new this morning oakland police are investigating two shootings.

officer believe he was shot actually about a block away then ran and collapsed in the street. while police were investigating that scene they were called to a shooting on 40th street. man was found lying in the street there and was taken to the hospital in serious condition. no arrests have been made in either shooting. time is 6:02. this morning classes will resume at james logan high school after a student was shot and that campus was locked down. alex savidge has been out there. he has more details about what happened yesterday including a description of the alleged shooter. good morning, alex. >> reporter: good morning, to you dave. first off the district said there will be counselors available for students as they return to school. after one of their classmates was wounded in that shooting that happened just off this road. this morning police are only putting out a vague description

of that gunman. they it was a -- the gunfire broke out just after noon yesterday. after being shot that wounded student ran back toward campus. logan high and nearby elementary school put on lock down for several hours. some worried parents came by to pick up their kids. students that were in the middle of a testing day describes some anxious moments right after the shooting. >> we walked right out of lunch and they told us everyone was running and screaming if. they told us to come into the nearest classroom. >> reporter: we checked in early this morning with union city police they have not made any connection so far. at last check that young man that was shot was in serious but stable condition. police have not released husband identity and have not talked about a possible motive

for yesterdays shooting just off the campus here. we are live this morning in union city alex savidge. happening right now a demonstration right in front of the u.s. supreme court by people that oppose arizona's controversial immigration law. we just lost the picture there. the group will be holding a press conference featuring residence of arizona sharing firsthand stories about the impact of that law on families and communities. the u.s. supreme court will hear arguments on arizona's immigration law today. the arizona law requires people to question the immigration status. for people that are stop for other i havelations. coming up why one of the supreme court justices won't be hearing this case. >> 6:05. >> today the senate is expected

to pass a proposal to throw the u.s. postal service a last minute lifeline. it would make it tougher to close down thousands of post offices and end mail on saturday. lawmakers did not vote yesterday on a key plan calling for two-year ban on closing 3700 post services. more cows will be test positive. that tow was at a ran dam willing -- agricultural officials say the cow was never a threat to humans. however, the news has prompt -- up we will bring you a live bart on the ever the taken.

groups speaking outside the court this morning. the justices are considering whether arizona and other states can enact their own immigration laws. lower courts have put key parts of arizona's law on hold like the provision that requires local police check the immigration status of everyone they stop. democrats on capital hill held a hearing about it yesterday. saying immigration enforcement is a federal issue. the awe there are of arizona's law testified the feds are failing. >> the invasion of illegal aliens we face today. convicted felons, drug cartel, even terrorists pose one of the greatest threats to our nation. >> reporter: just kagan is not taking part in the case. because she worked on it while she was in the justice department. we'll have live coverage on what the groups are saying. for now we are live in washington, d.c. alison burns ktvu channel 2 news.

our time now 6:14. another plane had to make an emergency landing and now you can hear the pilot telling air traffic control about a bird strike. >> i declare an emergency. >> jet blue flight 571 made an emergency landing at suburban new york airport. look at the windshield. there is the bird on the windshield. the 54 passengers on board they were moved to another plane which landed safely at palm beach international airport later that night. >> okay. i'm very thankful everything turned out well. >> relieved i'm finally home. didn't think i was going to get here. >> luckily none of the passengers on board were hurt. north korea making threatening words for the u.s. this morning. he says his country is armed with powerful mobile weapons

capable of striking the use. that office says north carolina has weapons that defeat the united states in quote a single blow. we now know the name of the man who was shot and killed by fairfield police. 51-year-old robert mcmallein was shot during a violent struggle with an officer on monday night. it happened at his home as police were following up on an investigation. he was suspected of following an elementary schoolgirl home and taking pictures of her. police were at his house monday night. payday lend evers could find it a -- out of low income neighborhoods. next week santa clara county is voted to put in a place. a

temporary -- still want lou coo's company to build its new studio there. lucas pulled the plug on the project there. last week supervisors promised to clear any regulatory hurdles so lucas film would have a change of heart. but the company says no, it still plans to build elsewhere. the perjury trial of roger clemens continues today in houston. he faces six criminal counts. including abstraction of congress. prosecution is trying to use clemens' own words against him. prosecutors played a tape.

you'll make a lot of people happy. the latest economic news not making people happy. durable good orders sank 4.2 in march. orers for transportation equipment fell 12.5 burst. the biggest decline since november of 2010. boeing reports a sharp rise in first quarter earnings. the aircraft builder said it had better than expected sales. that boosted boeings profits by 58% to $923 million for the quarter. boeing shares up more than 2% after the company raised its annual profit forecast. that should help out the dow this morning. 6:21. going way it on a ledge -- way out on a ledge to check in on baby falcon. now we know if it's a boy or girl. >> she was one of my soldiers. i taught her how to be a helicopter mechanic. >> they have been in love ever

traffic is moving along relatively well. once on the bridge it looks good into the city. take a look at this tow truck was the object of an unusual police case. it began saturday afternoon. at the scene of an accident police say the chase did not endangerer other drivers because the tow truck obeyed traffic laws. the pursuit ended after an hour when the driver finally stopped the truck and surrenders to police. more fallout from the alleged dirty dui cases. another civil lawsuit has been filed against private investigator christopher butler. now butler allegedly orchestrated drunk driving arrests of at least five men who were going through divorces. he's also accused of selling stolen drug evidence along with

for us right. they do know it's a mans body. several responded to the call. we're about 50 miles northwest of petaluma. pretty rocky area and dark at night. that's why authorities did not remove the body last night. it might have been too difficult or dangerous. instead of moving the body authority secured it. as soon as they can get to the body safely they will figure out the mans bo deand how it got here. reporting live in bodega bay lorraine blanco. san francisco police are investigating a shooting a man was seriously injured after being shot near plymouth avenue and fairlawn street. the victim is 47 years old. we do not know the mans name or

condition. no arrests have been made. 6:32. oikos university reopened for the first time sense that deadly shooting rampage where seven people were killed. coming up at 6:45 we will take you inside the classroom where the shooting occurred. we'll also tell you what one teacher said what it's like being on cam us. u.s. agricultural -- tested positive. tara moriarty joins us from berkeley with questions that are still unanswered. >> reporter: investigators are trying to figure out how this particular cow got infected. usually it's through the feed but that has been ruled out. u.s. officials say you should have no concern when you go to the grocery store to pick up that gallon of milk. that is because mad cow disease cannot be transmitted through milk. some dairy cows are slaughtered

for pet food. others are turned into human consumption. this diseased cow was never on its way to the slaughter house so there was no risk. nonetheless a large retailer in south korea says it will suspend product. one say as lot has changed since 20 years ago. >> there is a lot of cows in california these things will pop up. but there is enough things place this won't happen. >> reporter: 40,000 cows are tested for mad cow but that is out of millions of millions of cows and it's not enough. this cow was found at a rendering plant and ran damly selected for testing after it died. thus is the first case. there was -- this is the first

680 looks good. if you are driving to hayward 880 southward looks good. let's go to steve. thank you. a lot of cloud cover. more sot war the south and east as our system finally moving. mostly cloudy skies. michael in san francisco said muggy conditions last night and today. it's all coming up from the south. this is the first of two systems. today's system. it's already been producing light rain toward the santa clara valley. down toward the central coast. you can see where the line is. it's pushing a i way heading off toward the valley and points east. some of the rainfall projections santa cruz mountains. livermore south for that first system. then we will focus our system to the north. that will also cool us down. we will go from a tropical feel to more normal conditions. slightly below average temps. all of this mess is being pushed to the east because of

welcome back. here's a quick look at some of the top stories. there is a new development into a story we first told you about. a man that was shot in oakland overnight has now died. this happened on 40th street

about 3:30 this morning. police found the shooting victim on the street. so far no arrests have been made. we're also tracking developing news of a man's body found in bodega bay. sheriffs deputies are guarding the area near bodega head. they are hoping recover the body sometime soon. a dead dairy cow found in the central valley tested positive for mad cow disease. that cody not enter the -- that cow did not enter the food supply. retailers suspended the sales of all u.s. beefs. a james logan high school student is recovering after being shot near campus. alex savidge is there at the scene where classes will resume this morning but police are still searching for the shooter. >> reporter: police still looking for that shooter later

this morning. counselors will be on hand for students as they return to classes at james logan high school. one of the classmates wounded in this shooting that happened just up the road right off of campus. this morning police put autoa vague description of gunman. a man with short brown hair and a beard possibly leaving the scene with a construction vest and driving a white work type pickup truck with blue writing on the side and a rack of some kind. the gunfire broke out just about noon yesterday. logan high school and nearby elementary school both put on lock down for several hours while police investigated. some worried parents came here to the school to pick up their kids. some told us they are frustrated by this violence so close to cam us. >> tragic. there is not enough intervention being done in this area. >> logan high school is generally a very peaceful

school. there is a police officer stationed there full time. >> reporter: at last check the young man that was shot was in serious but stable condition. police have not put out his identity or said how old he is. they have not talked about a possible motive for yesterdays shooting. live this morning in union city alex savidge. we are getting our first look inside oikos university in oakland to where a gunman killed seven people on campus. >> this is where the tragedy happened. >> the school has repaired the shooting damage but the nursing classroom where most of the victims were kill remains empty. one teacher says he can't believe it happened. >> the whole situation seemed so surreal and not like we were a part of it.

classes resume but some of the nursing students -- juan go is in sentence one -- brian chong described that tragic day in this four-page letter to sailinganarchy.com. the wave that crashed into that 38 feet yacht was the biggest he had ever seen. he said when it hit he and one other crew member how managed to stay on board. when they tried to pull others to safety another wave hit and chong was thrown into the water. those 15 minutes in the water
