traffic problems in san francisco, two big events tonight. have you critical mass which is going on right now and the giants take on the padres at the park coming up in about an hour. >> reporter: we have a look now at some of the options -- get around. >> reporter: even though the bridge is going to be open during the closure your best bet may be to avoid the area all together. this is one way to do that. it's taking the long way around that could take less time from going across the golden gate. this little red spot, that's the closure. what you want to do starting from san francisco is take 80. the bay bridge across to the east bay. on 80, head up and go to richmond. catch 580 and jump across the richmond san rafael bridge and that takes new to the marin this is the long way but it could get you there quicker than the golden gate. another option is the ferry.

the golden gate transit district is doubling its ferry service this weekend. however, we have learned reserve vacations for the ferry are already sold out. baseball fans can take the ferry to the ferry biling then take mun reaction down to the park. the big message from the project notwithstanding -- here is now stay away. if you can't stay away leave a lot of extra prime to get to where you need to go. >> be patient. >> thank you. here now is a different look at the doyle drive construction through time l aps e. you can see crews use crane -- major construction started in december 2009. the whole project is expected to be done in 2015.

is facing charges of assault after police say he was caught with a hammer last night near the most recent victim. police also consider him to be a suspect in the killing of that tourist that happened on tuesday night. >> a man could face charges for engages police in a long standoff tonight after a fatal stabbing. police responded to a call early this morning on cleveland avenue. they say they found a 51-year- old plan with stab wounds out said a home. a man -- refused to come out and a standoff started. he finally came out nine hours later and could face charges of obstructing the investigation. the city of oakland is suing two more members of the occupy move helicopter for vandalising properties. they allegedly spray painted on property at the convention center during the demonstrations in january. oakland wants $400 from each protester for clean up as well

as funnive damages. the city torn said -- some took advantage of the occupy demonstrations to destructive. > >> police describe a kidnapping suspect as possibly latino in his early 20s, weighing around 180 pounds, he has bushy hair and a thin mustache. a 16-year-old girl was walking on the 5700 block of mission street when she was grabbed. she said she was able to fight off the would be kidnapper who ran away. >> police are warning taxi drivers after a cabby was robbed and kidnapped in antioch. investigators see you the driver picked up three men at the pittsburgh bay point bart station and drove them to antioch. he was then robbed ordered in to the car's drunk. the three drove the cab to oakland and let the victim go. the cab driver was not hurt. nobody mass been arrested.

them the power to stop them if they aren't justified. >> to qualify november the ballot it needs 200,000 mower signatures by may 15th. lobbyists have blocked the form in the state legislature. >> looks like california voters split on the governor's proposed plan to raise taxes to help pay for public education in california. a new policy poll finds it's 65% are in favor of raising the state income tax for people making more than $250,000 a year which is part of the plan. 34% oppose the idea. by contrast 52% are against the second part of the plan that calls for raising the state sales tax while 64% favor it. wall net creek's two libraries may see their hours cut once money from a parcel tax runs out. this is video -- right before it reopened in 2010. the money that helps the 21

. its been a violent week in oakland with three people killed so far including a 17- year-old boy last night. we talked to the victim's brother who didn't share his identity and a neighbor in a fatal shooting. >> killing me right now. i haven't even cried yet. >> there was fighting, like landed on my truck. i heard the shots, heard -- i got down and ran in the house. . >> reporter: neighbors identified the young victim as cody. he was shot on the 1100 block of 34th. . >> they were investigating. there were 103 homicides in

2011. . >> an issue has been issued to potentially restart executions, a judge stopped them in 2006. he ordered prison officials to improve their lethel injection procedure that included using three different drug ares, the governor now wants officials to explore eye single drug for them. pg&e said it has paid more than $26 million in fees and taxes to two east bay counties, they paid more than 14 million to alameda county and more than 12 million to contra costa. the money is from 2011 franchise fees and property taxes. they pay franchise fees to tyes . >> with the transformation

university employees have authorized a strike. today was the last day of voting. if approved 24,000 staff on 23 campuses could walk off the job. the vote at a very tough time for the csu system. it's lost almost a billion dollars since 2008. in sacramento the california student aid commission held a hearing if they will use californians for people getting online degrees there. are 200 programs on the internet. the commission said its looking at whether the appropriate standards are in place at those online schools to make sure student students get age quality education. >> it's friday. looks like a beautiful weekend. want to check in now with bill martin who is tracking the forecast. >> reporter: it'll be a nice weekend. temperatures increase. you will notice more of the increase, especially on sun. the warmest day. no fog to speak of now. maybe a little returning on
