>> hear how the team pulled off the latest crazy rescue. a creature from the lagoon nails some food, but is one enough for this assassin? >> oh, no. he's still hungry. boom, pulls another one out. and a man who can laugh without smiling. we investigate the creepy, i mean, rare talent. time for our first video and the story behind it. stephen has both. >> there's been what i think is a cool tradition at the university of texas in austin. at the end of the semester students get together for the foam sword friday. they've been doing this since 2007. they go to this particular street, intersection, armed with foam swords. when the light turns red -- medieval battle in the streets. >> with foam swords!

modern-day "braveheart". >> but this morn-day tradition got scary real quick. here's why. >> no! whoa! >> oh, no way! that's 18-year-old freshman nick ingman. nick runs out and, boom, he gets launched a few feet. but keep watching the video. in seconds nick is back up on his feet and, look, walks over calmly to the sidewalk. witnesses say nick was laughing after this. here's what happened. the bus driver actually ran the red light. the driver did get a ticket for running the red light and has been put on administrative leave. as for nick, he was taken to the hospital, released in just a few hours with no major injuries. people on facebook are talking a lot about foam sword friday this year. nick even posted -- sorry the event got halted because of me, fellow longhorns.

and on nick's personal facebook page he definitely has a good attitude about this whole thing. thanks about all the well wishes. headed back to campus on a bus. as you can probably imagine, the university president has come forward and said this is going to be the last year for foam sword friday. >> oh, that sucks! >> why isn't it the last year for buses on the street, you know? i mean, come on! >> whoa! >> for a video that has gone viral in just a week, it was posted by a group called stop hum. they're a youth group, and their goal is to fight traffic code violations and uncivilized behavior on roads. now, evidently in russia it's a huge problem that people are just parking everywhere, double parking, triple parking. so this youth group, they go and place these stickers on people's cars, and the sticker roughly translates to, i don't care, i park wherever i want. >> is this going to be effective? do you think the next time this

guy feels like parking whenever he wants he's going to think about being stickered? >> this campaign just got more effective because of what's about to happen in this video. the woman you see here? this is the wife of a political figure in russia, and these guys confront her about her parking job, and she's not having any of it. according to reports, this is what she's saying to them. erase what you have there now, meaning what's on the camera. god forbid it will appear on youtube. i'll get you, your legs will be torn off, you will be crawling on your hands. >> what? >> but notice she's on the phone here. she's calling for backup. up comes the porsche and out jumps her had son and some of his friends. and it gets violent. ♪ >> oh, man. >> wow! >> no one ended up filing charges over this incident, but the video ended up getting

posted. it got so much attention because there's a political figure's wife and son involved in it that now the police have opened a criminal case, an investigation, because of this video. >> this is all about parking spots, which is crazy. if you've ever worked in the restaurant business, this video is going to scare you. this happened in south hampton, uk. on this video you're watch willing, this woman is leaving the restaurant and watch what happens when she goes out the door. you see her running? and there are four masked men chasing her. then they knock her to the ground. >> oh, wow! is she a waitress? she has a lot of tips on her or something. >> they got more than tips from her. they got away with $26,000 from this restaurant. three of the suspects ended up going upstairs and threatening the assistant manager, 28 years old, at knifepoint, and they kicked and punched him to get the money. >> geez! >> you know, you're done with

your shift, thinking you're done for the day, and this happens. >> i don't know how many times i closed up my old bar at 2:00 a.m. with the other female manager, we're locking the doors with tons of money. this could happen to anybody. >> they made a couple of arrests. one guy was released, but one guy was let out on bond. they released this video, hoping that something triggers somebody's mind and they get more information on this case to lead to more arrests. >> talk about some cowards. i mean, to -- four guys to attack one girl alone? hope these thugs end up in jail for a long time. >> i do, too. it seems everything is bigger in russia, even their potholes. this video is popping up all over the web. this taxi driver lost a wheel in a pothole. it seems he tried to drive around the pothole and his taxi kind of just got stuck in this hole. this camera crew shows up to ask

him about the hole, he's, like, look, the ground just starts to fall away. >> whoa! >> now he fell in. >> oh, my -- >> it's not just a pothole. >> it's a swimming pool. >> that's a pond! >> yes. this poor guy takes a header right into this sinkhole. >> he really did a good job of showing them how deep it was. >> it is not his day. >> can you please show me that again. i just want with to sto see it >> oh, my -- he takes like a full step towards the car. >> it doesn't look like his feet ever touch ground underneath. he claws for the edge. some of the concrete pulls away, and he gets out. >> unbelievable. wow! >> must have been some had sort of water main break or something underneath the ground that caused this hole to open up and erode away. >> poor guy, the least graceful fall ever.

what do you do if there are ducks stuck in the drain? >> call the fire department. >> you get smart, the small animal rescue team. >> oh! >> these guys are based in los

angeles, california, and, as the name implies, they're a team that rescue small animals. in this case, four ducks were caught in a drainage box in lincoln park in los angeles. but what happened was, these ducks got into the drain pretty easi easily, but they couldn't get back up on the lip and get out of the drain. so smart to the rescue. the rescue you're seeing is armando nav. he used the net to get some of the ducks -- one of the ducks got out on his own. he just kind of appears into the shot. but he grabs the other ducks with nets and is able to just kind of pluck them right out of the top. smart has been rescuing lots of small animals. in fact, in this video you can see the entire year of 2011 in review, all of the animal rescues that they were a part of. to find out a little bit more about what these guys do, we have two smart team members, we have armando navaret and ernesto

via skype. first let's talk about that duck rescue. nav, that was you. >> after getting fecal matter all over me and smelling pretty bad. i was happy to get three of the ducks out. then one got out on their own. they kind of waddled away, said, thanks, see you later. >> what's the strangest animal you've had to rescue? >> we had a monitor stuck in a drainage pipe. >> now, you reese endly uploaded a video about a goose who had an arrow through it? tell us about that rescue. >> ernesto was the triggerman. we pulled up to the goose, perfect shot, now the goose is at the california wildlife center. they're going to treat it and put it back into the wild where it belongs. >> how do you return people's pets and animals to them when

they're in danger? >> they're so emotionally. it's such a great danger to be able to get these pets back to their owners and just to see how happy they are. it just makes us feel really great, like we're doing a great thing for these people. the 300 club is a very elite group of people who have endured pretty severe weather in a very short period of time. to the south pole, the guy on the right is carlos, he is from spain. [ speaking spanish ] for about ten minutes, they sit in a sauna that is about 200 degrees fahrenheit. once temperature drops to, in this case, negative 100 degrees fahrenheit, he hits the snow. >> so they're ranging 300 degrees. >> exactly. >> thus the name 300 club. >> they run to the celebratory

pool, which is the south pole marker. once he gets there, he's saying, here i am, enjoying one of the most spectacular views that one could ever experience.
