nothing justice. >> reporter: grant's family and friends were furious today as they gathered onto courthouse steps. the former bart police officer went to court earlier this week to appeal his conviction. grant's family said they were not there because nobody told them it was happening. they say they attended his 2010 trial in los angeles every day and would have been there for the appeal had they known. they were also furious to learn that his attorneys say his client wants to go back into law enforcement in his conrick is overturned. >> to allow someone back on the force like that would be a disgrace to our community, to our society, and it would be a slap in the face to me and my family and the community. >> reporter: one family friend also had a blunt, clear message. >> we are not going nowhere. we will follow you wherever you go. we are make your life miserable

just like you made bobby's appeared a the community. >> reporter: at peals court has 90 days to make a decision but grant's friends and family say they don't trust the system. if the court rules against him he will appeal the conviction all the way to the united states supreme court if necessary. >> we looked in toe why the grant family wasn't told about the hearing and we found a mix up involving three agencies. at issue is a victim's forum in which the family requests to be told of any legal procedures in a case. thal media da's office said the family properly filed that form last year. the corrections department said they received the form and forwarded it onto the attorney general's office which is responsible for keeping the victim's family informed. the attorney general's office said they never got the form. now the at's office has promised to tell the grant family of any legal proceeding

officials say the tents and the camp inside this fence have to go by ten tomorrow morning. a tractor in the middle of the city, researchers prepare to sow4000kernals of corn, the same type of work that should be going on in another field in albany. >> apparently there is a lot of people in there. >> reporter: protesters with the group occupy the farm took over the track three weeks ago. they want the land to be a community farm. the land is owned by berkeley and by next week sciencists fled to plant for research. >> this is real, this is like the lab. >> reporter: he uses corn to study how genes work. >> what we study in corn can have applications for what happens during cancer. >> reporter: the dean came to the track to meet with protesters today. he told them about a meeting he host tomorrow with sciencists and officials to figure out how to create a long term farm here. university officials say

protesters can be part of that discussion to but they have to clear out first. the protesters skeptical. >> to leave this space and then feel like we have any baring power with the university. the fact that -- they are requesting that of us is i don't really honestly understand how they expect us to say we will leave and then negotiate with you. >> we put it in writing. we are serious about the urban agriculture effort and at this point they need to decide if they want to take that leap of faith. >> reporter: now you can see protesters have been coming in and out of this research field by hopping the fence. they have created a ramp there to make it easy for people to go back and forth. if the deadline comes and goes with no change university officials say they will consider other options to force them out. >> a homeless camp in the south bay is caution concern forested debts. they say squatters have a camp

along coyote creek. they say its taking water from a nearby faucet and has tapped in to power. some who live nearby link them to crime. >> call it in, 911 and they come out but there is nothing they can do. you can even tell on the window, all the glass on the road. our neighbor just next door had a brand new truck and they smashed out the window and all think took was cd's. >> reporter: the camp is at least partly on santa clara water district land. the district said the city has suspended it's clean up program while it reviews the process for removing camps. >> in mountain view police are looking in to three robberies that happened at the same apartment complex earlier this week. the theft was reported report -- in two of three the people who live in the apartments said they locked the doors, the only way in when they left in the morning but when they got home the door was unlocked and computers and other electronics

were missing. there were no details on the third barry. >> the bay area congresswoman trying to stop when she called a disheartening development. she said she is troubled by word from nasa it may ask for another review of the reuse of the former air fieldn. a letter she called on nasa to commit to finishing the restoration rather than starting another long review process. >> a study by the navy shows its use of explosives and sonar could hurt more sea life than first thought. the report shows more than 1600 dolphins or whales could be hurt or loose their hearing every year and more than 200 marine mammals could be killed. earlier study indicated only about a hundred animals would be hurt. sonar and explosive testing is supposed to start in two years, next month public hearings will be held in hawaii and in

there is no rain in the forecast. we are dry, for at least the next five to ten days and that means increase in the fire danger but fire season it starts, when it stops raining which is about now. as we get into june and july you start talking about the high fire danger. as we go through tonight the patchy fog stays at the coast. stinson beach. then as we go into the weekend mild at the coast because the fog will keep the temperatures nice and mild. warm inland to hot. especially saturday. saturday is the warmest day. cooler into monday but next week looks nice as well and dry. that's how that shakes out. forecast overnight lows, mid40s, nice sleeping weather actually because it's still cool. 50 antioch and fairfield. 50 in pacifica and 51 in san mateo. 53 mountain view. this is how it breaks out. here is golden gate park. o season beach, tomorrow out at the beach 67 degrees, here in

. a slow down in china industrial production is pushing down the price of oil. it fell nearly a dollar today in new york to close at just over $96 a barrel. analysts say oil prices have been headed down for two weeks stemming slow job growth in the united states and all that economic turmoil in europe. >> gas prices are climbing here in california, even though they are falling in many parts of the country. the reason may be a case of supply and demand. look at any freeway in the bay area. you will know that gas is high in our area and so is the price. aaa reports nationally the price has dropped 20-cents in

waters of the guadalupe reservoir looking for any signs of her. we are also learning more from the sheriff about the newest evidence, that red car that was found. we are in santa clara county with answers to questions we asked the sheriff about if investigators were trying to mislead the public. >> reporter: we are near the guadalupe reservoir and divers have just finished searching. as you said earlier today i sat down with the sheriff to talk about what they are and are not telling the public about the case. this week what appears to be a promising lead in the case was released to the plead y on monday sheriff a officials said they identified a red car associated with her disappearance. what they didn't say until today was that they already had the car in custody. >> we had it before monday and when we realized that the public was looking for the car
