it's a hundred mile bike ride from oakland to sacramento, but that's where all these cyclists are headled. the message they plan to deliver to lawmakers. occupy the farm protestors are still on university land in albany. what cal is offering this morning to try convince them to leave. and two people are killed and one person injured in separate shootings in san francisco overnight. this morning the search is on for the shooters.

good morning. welcome to mornings on 2. it's saturday, may 12th. cool on the coast, war. inland. let's check in with rosemary and take a look at what it looks like right now. >> good morning to you! it's that time of year when we have two stories to tell. we've got fog along the coastline, even patchy dense fog reported in some areas this morning. meanwhile, a ridge of high pressure will continue to warm our inland areas. today, coastal fog expected to linger. cool to mild weather at the coast. around the bay and inland, sunshine, mild to warm, maybe even hot. we'll talk about what you can expect for today and for mother's day, coming up. happening now, more than a hundred people are setting out for a long bike ride today. they're trying to raise money for their cash-strapped schools. and allie rasmus is live in oakland with more on the message they're taking to sacramento. >> reporter: we're into oakland

tech high school. people are getting bikes ready, some of them getting a last- mundt snack and cup of coffee before they hit the road. they're taking part in a hundred-mile bike ride to sacramento. there are 170 cyclists taking part in the ride for a reason. they raised $50,000 to be part of this, and ma money will go to north oakland schools. the dole and of this event, ride for a reason, is to raise money and awareness about the state of funding for public education. >> draw attention to the fact that california funds its schools at 25% below the national average, which is totally unacceptable. and we thought if we could do something that was physically challenging, to show our commitment to this cause, that would be a good thing. >> cyclists are heading out in groups, and the first group to start the hundred-mile bike ride left about an hour ago. a father and son team is ride to go sacramento on a tandem bike. >> how will you feel when you're done? >> probably going to be tired.

definitely. and probably going to feel really good. >> along with the hundred mile ride, there are also two shorter versions of the ride. so some people who may have a little less experience but still want to be part of this event will take -- will load up their bikes here and some folks will be taking buses to vacaville and dixon. but everyone involved should be on their way to sacramento by 8:00 this morning. allie rasmus, ktvu channel 2 news. the clock is ticking down for occupy protestors who have taken over a plot of land owned by uc berkeley. the group occupy the pharmasset up camp three weeks ago at a 10- acre research field in albany. cal officials have given protestors a deadline of 10:00 this morning to move out. uc says it's offering to drop all criminal and civil actions while giving the group a chance to discuss the future use of

the land. in an unrelated demonstration on campus, 12 people were cited for trespassing. a group of people including some students held a sitdown demonstration last night in the administration offices. protestors demanded more student diversity. those protestors who are not students were ordered to stay away for the next week. a bomb scare rattled nerves in san francisco overnight. police were called after someone record a suspicious package on spear street. police say a suitcase was left near the embarcadero under the bay bridge, and about 11:40 last night some officers shut down streets and called in the bomb squad to inspect the suitcase. it was empty and that area was reopened at 2:30 this morning. the body of a man discovered at a bus stop in santa rosa at 8 last night. passersby found the victim on todd road. a grocery store worker said the

man was in the market and looked intoxicated. investigators are still looking into the cause of his death on. two men died in a woman was injured in two separate shootings in san francisco. they happened in the city's ingleside and western districts. at 9:30, police responded where a man and woman were shot. paramedics and police worked on one of victims there. 54-year-old man died at that scene. the 27-year-old woman who was shot in the leg is expected to survive. witnesses say the gunman got into a car and sped off. two hours just before that, police say a 24-year-old man was shot on plymouth and broad streets. initial reports indicate the victim was chased by two men who shot a multiple times. there is no word of any arrests in either of these two cases. the city of oakland is cracking down on prostitution and the crimes that come with it. as part of a coverage hencive strategy, police have increased patrols on a stretch of

international boulevard. they have also installed about half of 20 new security cameras and are encouraging residents to keep an eye out. the d.a. is also getting involved by working to shut down two hotels it says allow illegal sex trade on their property. >> this is something that is vitally important, especially to this community. and this community is really engaged and is doing everything they can to do their part, which is what we asked the community to do. so we have to do our part. >> yesterday members of the community, police officers 3 mayor quan held a rally and march, saying they're all committed to the new effort to keep the streets and their children safe. in an hour the search resumes for missing morgan hill teenager sierra lamar. and at the same time, santa clara county sheriff's deputies are clearing up confusion over evidence they have collected. earlier this week the sheriff's office said they identified a red jetta connected to her disappearance and released this picture of a similar car to the media. but yesterday, we learned they already had the red car with

the black hood in custody. >> we had it before monday, and when we realized the public was looking for the car instead of telling us when they'd seen the car in the past, we had to put out clarification that we actually had the car but looking for information about the car and the driver. >> the sheriff's office says it has about 80 different pieces of evidence showing the car near lamar's home. they are also examining hundreds of pieces of evidence that have been collected in the field. just before mother's day, her mother released a letter on what being a mother means to her. the end of the letter says -- >> 15-year-old sierra has been missing since march 16th. post al workers are teaming up with bay area food banks today to collect food for the annual stamp out hunger food drive. if you want to take parted,

stronger economy right now. >> mr. obama outlined that to do list in the weekly address. points include stop giving tax breaks to companies shipping jobs overseas, help homeowners refinance mortgages at lower rates, tax breaks for small businesses that hire more workers, extend tax credits for clean energy companies, and create a job corps for veterans returning from iraq and afghanistan. last night the president flew from reno back to washington. he spent yesterday in nevada, one of the most economically depressed areas of the country. president obama sat down with a couple who benefitted from a home loan financing program. when he took office, one in every 76 homes was in foreclosure. this spring, neville proved to one in ever 301 homes. the state still has the second worst foreclosure rate in the nation. the president's campaign war chest is filling up fast. he raised $15 million thursday night at the los angeles home of george clooney.

gay rights supporters are now adding to those campaign coffers. president obama's campaign raised a million and a half dollars in the first 90 minutes following his announcement he supports same-sex marriages. he is also scheduled to fund- raiser at the historic fox theater in redwood city next wednesday and tickets for that reportedly start at a thousand dollars apiece. mitt romney and fellow republicans say they will selectively use the president's position on gay marriage against him. they are expected to raise that issue in states that voted to ban same-sex marriage. the message will still focus on the economy and job creation. conservatives add while president obama has flip- flopped on that issue, romney has never wavered in his position on same-sex marriage. thousands of activists marched today in australia in support of same-sex marriage. rallies were held in several major cities, including sydney. organizers called today marriage equality national day

of action. although polls show australians favor gay marriage, the country's prime minister opposes it. bills in parliament legalizing same-sex marriages are not expected to pass. we're now hearing from the southern california woman who appeared on this week's cover of "time" magazine, breast- feeding her 3-year-old son. >> my hope for doing this is to create the dialogue and perhaps take the stigma way from attachment parenting, that is clearly mothers are feeling stressed from all of the attacks they're getting from it. >> jamie lin appeared on several news shows yesterday, including the cnn segment. she said she understands the controversy but wasn't aware she was going to be on the cover until the day before. she said she was breast-fed until the age of 6, and hopes the picture will create an open dialogue. it's being called a sick and ridiculous way to make money. someone sold trayvon martin shooting targets. the gun range targets bear the

likeness of the 17-year-old, a hoodie with a bag of kittles and can of ice tea. in online ad for the targets taken down yesterday, the sellers said they support zimmerman and believe he shot a thug. zimmerman's attorney called the targets disgusting. >> it's this type of hatred, because that's what that is -- that is hate mongering, that is going to make it more difficult to try this case. >> he also said he worries about how trayvon martin's parents will react. martin's mother is calling for the prevention of gun violence in a timely youtube video. >> i'm sabrina fulton. this will be my first mother's day without my son trayvon. i know it will be hard, but my faith, family and friends will pull me through. >> she's asking people to call on their state's governors to reexamine laws similar to stand

your ground law. the man accused of murdering singer jennifer hudson's mother, brother and nephew has been found guilty. yesterday they released a statement thanking prosecutors and the jury. the verdict was reached after three days of deliberation. it came after the jury said they were deadlocked 9-3, and the judge urged this. to continue until they reached a unanimous decision. >> three of us who just needed to see the picture a little clearer, there were still some holes, some gaps, that needed to be filled in. >> 31-year-old william balfour, the ex-husband of hudson's sister, was found guilty of three counts every murder and four other counts that included home invasion. since the state of illinois does not have a death penalty, he will be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. an estimated 20,000 people attended a public memorial service for former nfl star junior seau.

he committed suicide in his southern california home this month. many of the fans at the memorial in san diego were seau's number 55 jersey. he played parts of 20 seasons in the nfl, 13 of those were with the chargers. family and friends and former teammates spoke about the impact he had on their lives. >> don't be sad today, be happy, because junior lives through us. >> everybody here, everybody that he touched, he lives through us! >> the chargers president also spoke at that memorial. he said number 55 will never be worn by another chargers player. clear weather is finally allowing helicopters to land on an indonesian mountainside where a plane crashed earlier this week. search teams have been struggling to retrieve the bodies because of the steep and rugged terrain. 45 people were killed when a jetliner crashed on wednesday. the russian made plane was on a demonstration flight for

potential buyers. crews are still looking for the black box recorder. a man from oakley was the only american killed on that flight. 55-year-old peter adler worked as a consultant for an indonesian airline. his wife told ktvu news that they had been together since they were 16 years old. >> he loved his children. a great deal. he would always come home with presents and -- for them and he just loved them and to pieces. >> adler leaves behind two children, his son turns 18 today. adler's family is now working with the state department to have his body recovered and flown back to the states. police in southern california are trying to figure out how five bombs ended up near an intersection. pipe bombs started showing up on tuesday in palm springs. a man found what he believes was a pipe bomb and his son brought it to police.

officers detonated it safely. then on thursday the same man found another pipe bomb, and called police again. when officers arrived they found two more. then someone else called police to report a fifth device in his driveway. >> i noticed something in my yard and i looked out there, 3 there was a bomb in my yard. >> police called in a bomb unit to blow up the device, afterwards police searched the area for more pipe bombs. but they found nothing. caught on camera! >> i was freaking out! it was so -- >> ktvu crews watched this rescue from above, and from onshore after tourists on a paddleboat got into trouble on the bay. >> some of us greeted by sunshine this morning, others socked in by fog. what you can expect for your neighborhood, coming up.

some tourists had to be rescued when their boat was swept out past the golden gate. >> we got -- past the bridge

are on the road to sacramento. we went this morning as ride for a reason began in oakland. the riders who range in age from 10 to 75 are doing this to raise money for schools and lobby for improved educational funding. so far, 50,000 dollars has been raised all of which will go back to north oakland schools. >> this is fundamental to our teacher. so that's why we're riding, and what we're doing and trying to have a good time and raise money, because we have to. >> about 170 people are participating. some have already begun the 100- mile journey. others are going to bus to vacaville and dixon, where they will begin. everyone should be on their bikes by 8 this morning. this ride comes two days before governor brown is expected to unveil has revised budget proposal. the governor says he needed far more than the $4.2 billion in spending cuts that he asked for in january. and he says this is going to mean deeper cuts to public schools, colleges, and other state services if his call for

a tax hike fails. a first round of vote something over and so far san francisco teachers are moving to strike. yesterday the teachers union announced the strike authorization was approved by a 97% margin. it came after the teachers rejected a plan by the district that called for 9 furlough days and increase in class sizes. the superintendent says this is just the reality of the state budget. >> we're just as frustrated as they are. i mean we don't create the budget. the budget is handed down by the state of california. this is a california state issue, and the state dumped it on the local school districts. >> there's only three weeks left in the school year, and teachers still need to schedule a second strike vote. if it happens over the summer, the strike could happen then during the next academic year. in two hours the first of two graduation ceremonies will begin at sonoma state university and protestors plan on attending both. show you a picture of this man and his wife, the former ceo of

citigroup, who retired to wine country just before the banking collapse. today he and his wife are expected to receive honorary degrees and protestors are calling that an outrage. however, graduates and their families say they just hope the fair money doesn't get ruined. >> this is their time, and it just shouldn't be part of -- part of the ceremony. >> we're going to stand with our becomes to the man. that's -- all we're doing. it will be silent. there will be no yelling. heckling, anything disruptive. >> protestors say wall street giants like him are the reason they're seeing higher debts and lack of job prospects. the ceremonies will begin at 9 and at 3. former supervisor nadia lockyer has obtained a restraining order against her former boyfriend. the bay area news group reports the order will stay in effect at least until a court hearing on may 24th. lockyer claims steven chikhani recently called or texted her

or her husband more than 10 times over 24 hours. she also claims he threatened to send someone to rape and kill her. chikhani, according to the news group, says lockyer's drug addiction has clouded her judgment. ktvu has learned how san francisco mayor ed lemay prove suspended sheriff ross mirkarimi violated ethics laws. late yesterday the city submitted a supplemental filing in the misconduct case against mirkarimi. documents revealed the city wants the cell phone records of his former campaign merlin the haines. she is suspected of speaking to mirkarimi's wife on the day lopez talked to a neighbor about her husband's alleged abuse. the filing accuse haines of then calling that neighbor ivory madison to dissuade her from cooperating with police. later this morning, president obama is going to honor america's best police officers with top cops awards.

representing california are l.a.p.d. officers who took down this gunman last december. officer kevin cotter was off- duty at the time. detective craig mar questions was on his break, both in the area rushed in without any backup and shot and killed the man. this afternoon, the unity tour ends in washington, d.c. the bike ride honors police officers killed in the line of duty. the ride also raises money and awareness for the national law enforcement officers memorial. 60 officers and survivors from the bay area are participating in that ride. family and friends of oscar grant are angry no one notified them that the bart officer who shot and killed grant is trying to clear his name and return to law enforcement. >> to allow someone back on the force like that would be a disgrace to our community, to our society, and it would be a slap in the face to me and my family. >> in a news conference outside the alameda county courthouse,

grant's family says it was caught off guard about the appeal filed by johannes mehserle. ktvu had the only camera of him going to court wednesday, seeking to overturn his involuntary manslaughter conviction. the appeals court has 90 days to decide. if mehserle loses, his attorney says they will go to the california or even the u.s. supreme court. a ceremony will be held at noon today to display a mural remembering oscar grant. the revolution cafe in west oakland is hosting the event and will now house the mural. it was created two years ago and consists of different colored ribbons depicting grant's face. a march is scheduled this afternoon for a teenager shot and killed by oakland police. >> my baby -- [not understandable] >> family and friends of 18- year-old alan blueford also turned out yesterday for a rally at police headquarters. he was shot three times last sunday. relatives question officers' accounts that he was armed and pointed a gun at them.

among those in support of the family is entertainer hammer. >> allen was a good kid and a great kid. none of us profess perfection, but execution -- execution, that is about as barbaric as you can get. >> at 3 p.m. today, blueford supporters will march from where he was shot to the mall police substation. meanwhile, the police chief issued a statement saying he is certain based on evidence and witness statements that the high school senior was armed. oakland police are investigating another homicide after a man was killed in the afternoon. his car came to a stop next to the 106th offramp of highway 580 yesterday. police say it appears someone opened fire at least 13 bullets were fired with 10 hitting the victim. he was pronounced dead at the hospital. the victim's name has not been released.

and no suspects have opinion identified. 500 people attended a memorial for a teenager killed just weeks from graduation. family and friends accompanied 18-year-old osana futi as casket last night. he was killed in a house party in free month. an 18-year-old man was charged with his murder. amid fears of retaliation, futi's uncle says he forgives his nephew's killer. >> learn to forgive. that's what -- going [not understandable] >> osana futi was the defensive player of year in his high school football league. his body will be flown to samoa next week for burial on his native island. his family will receive his cap and gown and de diploma next

month. the city of oakland is asking for help in identifying the people responsible for the vandalism that took place during last week's mayday protests. protestors clashed on numerous occasions with police breaking windows and lighting fires, including torching a police cruiser. the city is asking for people to hand over any video or photos that they have showing vandalism. it can be submitted by e-mail or sent to the neighborhood law court at city hall. the new report shows the occupy movement is hurting the very people it is supposed to protect. the city of los angeles says occupy l.a. has cost taxpayers at least $4.7 million. expenses include monitoring and evicting protestors from city hall, and repairing damage to man messages at nearby park. the tour of california begins in the bay area tomorrow. stage one in santa rosa beginning at 10:50 a.m. stage two starts in san francisco on monday and will go through daly city, pacifica and half moon bay before finish engine santa cruz county.

california teenagers are eating less at school. about 158 fewer calories a day than children in other states. according to a study in the archives of the pediatric and adolescent medicine. the study that's that's because state laws set limits on snacks in school and ban soda and sports drinks from high schools. experts say not consuming that extra 158 calories a day can keep a teenager from gaining 15 pounds over the course of a year. a name in american sports card design has died. carroll shelby helped create the shelby co bra. he spoke with tom vacar in 1995 at sears pointway, the 30th anniversary of the shelby cobra, winning the grand world touring championship. he put on on emphasis on power and high performance and he died last night in dallas. shelby was 89 years old. london now has a new

occupy the farm protest where they're not leaving. >> reporter: adopt look like they're leaving any time soon. protestors with occupy the farm camped out overnight. you can see it a number of their tents and tables here. people are just starting to get up. earlier this week the university locked the gates to the research field called the gill track. and behind that guilty you can see university police standing guard. but some protestors are still inside the fenced off area, off to the right here. you can see many have their tents set much on the field. number of people standing around there and then a makeshift ramp that people are use to go get over 3 hop the fence so they can get from the outside into this roped off field. the group took over the land three weeks ago. they believe part of this field, part of the gill track, should be converted into a community farm. the university says it's also onboard that idea. they want to make this idea an urban farm and having a meeting at 10:00 this morning with university officials, community

members and city leaders to discuss how to do that. the university says if the protestors want to be part of that planning process, they need to clear out their tents and equipment. the dean of the college natural resources which manages the land came out to the field yesterday to tell the protestors about that meeting. protestors have until 10 a.m. to respond to the university's proposal. and university officials say they will also drop the lawsuits and trespassing charges against the protestors. again, if they leave and i 10:00 this morning. protestors say they're skeptical of the university as proposal. one of the organizers told me their biggest concern is that the university will go back on its word. to far, back out here live, we haven't seen any movement to take down any tents or anything. university officials say if the protestors don't leave, they will consider other options to force the protestors out. allie rasmus, ktvu 2 news in an unrelated demonstration on the berkeley

campus, 12 people were cited for trespassing. our cram raw not allowed in as a group of students and non- students held a demonstration last night in the admission offices. protestors demanded more student diversity. those who don't attend uc berkeley were around today stay away for the next to weekup a bomb scare rattled nerves in san francisco overnight. police were called after someone reported a suspicious package on spear street. police say a suitcase had been left near the embarcadero at 11:40 last night. officers shut down nearby streets and called the bomb squad to inspect that suitcase. it turned out to be em and the area was reopened to traffic at 2:30 this morning. two shootings in san francisco have left two men dead and one woman injured. they happened within two and a half hours of each other in the ingleside and western edition neighborhoods. police were called to turk and laguna streets. a 54-year-old man died there. a 27-year-old woman was shot in

the leg and is expected to survive. witnesses say the gunman got no a car and sped off. two hours before that, police say a 24-year-old man was shot on preliminaryth and broad streets. initial reports indicate the victim was chased bitwo men who shot him multiple times. there is no word of any arrests in either of the two cases. new efforts are underway to stop prostitution. and the crimes that come with it in one part of oakland. as part of a comprehensive strategy, police have increased patrols on a stretch of international boulevard. they have also installed about half of 20 new security cameras and are encouraging residents to keep an eye out. the d.a.'s office is also involved and is attempting to shut down two hotels it says allow illegal sex trade on their property. >> this is something that is vitally important, especially to this community. and this community is engage and is dog everything they can to do their part. so we have to do our part. >> yesterday members of the community, police officers and

mayor quan held a rally. they're all committed to the new effort to keep the streets and their children safe. investigators are trying to figure what killed a man. a body was discovered in santa rosa at 8 last night. passers by found the victim on todd road. a store worker says the man was in the market earlier and looked intoxicated. right now volunteers are gathering in morgan hill to continue the search for missing teenager sierra lamar. at the same time, santa clara she was disare clearing up confusion over a car they say is connected to the case. earlier this week, the sheriff's office said they were looking for a red volkswagen jetta and released this picture of a similar car to the media. but yesterday we learned they already had the red car with the black hood in custody. >> we had it before monday. and when we realized the public was looking for the car instead of telling us when they'd seen

occupy protestors continue to camp out on uc berkeley land this morning, as they face a 10

a.m. deadline by university officials. welcome back to mornings on 2. i'm protestors have been occupying the land for three weeks. allie rasmus has more. >> reporter: the situation could be changing today. about an hour and a half from now, university officials, al beanie city leaders and community members will have a discussion and a meeting on how to turn part of this occupy field into a long-term urban farm. the university told the protestors that if they break down their camp they can also be part of that discussion. and that's what the group here is deciding right now. let's take away that tape for now. show you that there is a discussion going on here right now. the protestors are trying to figure out whether or not they want to accept the university's proposal to take down their camp so they can be part of the planning process for long-term urban farm. protest organizationers told me

that they've been -- having this discuss since last night and still haven't reached a decision on what they want to do. again, university says if the protestors take down their camp, tents and equipment inside the research field, they can have a seat at the table to help them plan an urban farm. we just spoke to to organizers and they say discussion again is going on since last night. it's going right now. the group here is still talking about it. they haven't decided yet what they're going to do. they say they have concerns about the 10 a.m. meeting the university is hosting. the location is kept a secret. and some of the protestors bottom line say they still dent trust of the university. >> concerned about the transparency of the meeting itself. some folks are concerned about the legal standing, some are being sued so if they went to the meeting they would be implicated, although the university said they would drop charges. we've stein them say that before and not follow through.

>> and earlier this week, the university locked the gates to the gill track. the research field they were occupying. there are some police officers standing guard behind that gate. however, some of the protestors have stayed inside the fenced off area. they've still have their camp there. and again, this morning they're trying to figure out and decide as a group whether they'll accept the university's proposal to leave by 10 a.m. and be part of the prang process. otherwise the university says if that deadline comes and goes, they will seek other options to force protestors out. allie rasmus, ktvu channel 2 news. the city of oakland is asking for help in identifying the people responsible for the vandalism that took place during last week's mayday protests. they broke windows and lit foyers, including torching a police cruiser. the city is asking for people to hand over any video or photos they have which shows

vandalism. those can be submitted by e- mail or sent to the neighborhood law corps at city hall. the new report or there's a new report that shows the occupy movement is hurting the people it's supposed to protect. and support. the city of los angeles says occupy l.a. has cost teenagers $4.7 and that includes monitoring and evicting protestors and repairing damage to monuments at a nearby park. oakland police are investigating another homicide after a man was killed in the middle of the afternoon. his car came to a stop next to the 106 street offramp the 580 yesterday. police say it appears someone on the sidewalk opened fire, at least 13 bullets were fired with 10 hitting the victim. he was pronounced dead at the hospital. the victim's name has not been released and no suspects have been identified. a march is scheduled for this afternoon for a teenager shot and killed by oakland police.

family and friends of yen-year- old alan blueford also turned out yesterday future a rally at police headquarters. he was shot three times last sunday and relatives are questioning officers' accounts that he was armed and pointed a gun at them. his parents havelied the support of people including mc hammer. his mother says her son wouldn't hurt anyone. >> the biggest smile, had had the most infectious eyes, who could melt my heart and -- my heart is broken! it's broken! this is the most -- [not understandable] >> at 3 p.m. today supporters will march from where he was shot to the east police substation. the police chief did issue a statement. family and friends of oscar grant are angry, no one notified them that the bart officer who shot and killed grant is trying to clear his name and return to law enforcement.

and estuary, where the skies are clearing. mostly sunny skies over the bay today. this weekend china is homing a disaster drill to mark the anniversary of a deadly earthquake including explosions and emergency workers rushing to burning buildings and learning to pull out survivors. in 2008, a magnitude 7.9 quake hit central china, killing about 85,000 people and leaving five million others homeless. the chinese government found poor construction and lax regulations contributed to that disaster. three teenagers arrested for allegedly burning down part of that are oregon high school. the 15-year-old boys are accused of setting this fire at wood burn high yesterday. 1400 students and teachers had to evacuate. no one was hurt, and classes are going to be held somewhere else next week. the boys will face arson and reckless charges. fire danger up this weekend and cal-fire is getting ready.

along the coast 60s, with partly to mostly cloudy skies. right inside the bay. very comfortable, 70s to low 80s once again. but the further inland you go, the hotter you'll being a few degrees warmer than yesterday. the clock is ticking down for occupy protestors who took over a research farm area belonging to uc berkeley. the school ordered deadline is now less than an hour away. and ktvu allie rasmus is live where occupiers are meeting to decide their next move. >> reporter: that meeting just wrapped up a short time ago. and university told the protesters they wanted to make a deal. the deadline to accept the deal is an hour from now at 10:00. and here was the proposal basically at the university offered them. they said if the protestors broke down their camp and left this research field, then the university would give them a seat at the table to discuss creating a long-term urban farm

on this research trek called the gill trek. this is where occupy the farm has been for the last three weeks. and protestors say their grow is to create a public community farm here. so it seems like both sides would be in agreement, but there were some issues about how to resolve the situation. so you had this meeting about whether to accept the university's proposal, which is -- what did you decide at that meeting? >> that the meeting what we decided is we are going to and we've always said the encampment was not permanent, and we are take the encampment off the land. we're sawing we don't need the encampment but also we don't need the uc and we're not going to participate in the process the uc laid out. so we're not attending the meeting either. the seats will remain empty. and the reason is that the uc is not been a good steward to this land. uc controlling and supervisors for the land for decades meant

it's been sex offenders off and not a single member of the public and community has been able to set foot on the land. >> the meeting at 10:00 with the university of officials, community members, that meeting the topic of which is supposed to be discuss how to create a long-term urban farm here and a the that meeting university said they would let protestors come if they break down the camp but you're saying you're going to break down the camp? we're breaking down the camp and having our own meeting some our meetings are open and democratic and the public is welcome to attend and the uc has been invited and haven't come to the lasts four meetings that we've held. they haven't had a representative , the public has not expressed concerns the uc expressing about the farm. >> but there won't be -- a confrontation here [audio not understandable] >> we don't want there to be a

confrontation. we're going to be maintaining a presence outside, and we're in no way say that we are giving up access to the plan so we want -- [audio not understandable] to water the crops, to plant here. we just don't need to camp here to do that anymore. >> thank you very much. it sounds hike protestors will take down their camp but they'll continue their efforts to create a long-term urban farm and don't want to work with the university. we'll see what happens in the days ahead. allie rasmus, ktvu channel 2 news. in another demonstration on the uc berkeley campus, people were cited for trespassing. we were not allowed in as a group of people including some students helped a sitdown demonstration last night. those were in the admission

offices at spirale hall. protestors demanded more student diversity, and those not student were order today stay away for the next to week. a bomb square rattled nerves in san francisco overnight. police were called after someone reported a suspicious package on spear street. police say the package turned out to be a suitcase that had been left neat the embarcadero under the bay bridge at 11:40 last night. officers shut down nearby streets and called out the bomb squad to inspected the suitcase. turned out to be empty and the area was reopened to traffic at 2:30 this morning. two shootings in san francisco have left two men dead and one woman injured. it was 9:30 last night when police were called to turk and laguna streets, a 54-year-old man died at that scene. a 27-year-old woman was shot in the leg. she is expected to survive. witnesses say the gunman got into a car and sped off. two hours before that, police

say a 24-year-old man was shot. two men shot him multiple times. there's no word of arrests in either of those cases. a city of oakland is cracking down on prostitution and the crimes that come with it. as part of a comprehension of strategy, police have increased patrols on a stretch of international boulevard. they have also installed about half of 20 new security cameras and are encouraging residents to keep an eye out. the d.a.'s office is also getting involved by working the shutdown two hotels it says allow illegal sex trade on their property. >> this is something that is vitally important, especially this community. and this community is really engaged and is doing everything they can to do their part, which is what we ask the community to to do. so we center to do our part. >> yesterday members of the community, police officers and mayor quan held a rally and march in the area. they say they are all committed to the new effort to keep the streets and their children safe. sheriff's investigators are trying to figure out what

killed a man whose body was found in a bus stop in santa rosa last night. passersby found the victim on todd road, not far from the tower mart. a grown volunteers are searching for missing morgan hill teenager sierra had mar. at the same time santa clara county sheriff's deputies are clearing up confusion over evidence they have collected. earlier this week, the sheriff's office said it had identified a red volkswagen jetta connected to herrities appearance and released this picture of a similar car to the media. but yesterday we learned they already had the red car with the black hood in custody. >> had it before monday, and when we realized the public was looking for the car instead of telling us when they had seen the car in the past we had to put out a clarification we did have the car but looking for information about the car and the driver. >> the sheriff's office says it has about 80 different pieces of video evidence showing the car near lamar's home.

we are also hearing from lamar's mother, who released a letter she wrote to her two daughters for mother's day. the end of the letter says -- 15-year-old sierra has been missing since march 16th. right now the first of two graduation ceremonies at sonoma state is getting underway. both of those ceremonies are expected to be attended by protestors. this is a picture of stanford weil and his wife. weil is the former ceo of citigroup who retired to wine country just before the bankings collapse. today they're expected to receiver honorary degrees protestors calling that an outrage because they say wall street giants such as weil are the reason they're facing higher debt and lack of job prospects. good morning to you!

someone sold trayvon martin shooting targets. they show a hoodie and also a bag of kittles and can of ice tea, items he had when he was shot and killed by george zimmerman in sanford, florida. in ads for the targets, which were taken down yesterday, the seller says she support zimmerman and believe he shot a thumbing zimmerman's attorney calls the targets disgusting. >> it's this time of hatred, that is hatemonger, that is going to make it more difficult to try this case. >> he also says he is worried about how trayvon martin's parents are going to react. in the race for the white house, president obama will spend this weekend in washington, but there's not much time to relax before he returns to the campaign trail. he spent yesterday in nevada, one of the most economically depressed areas of the country. president obama sat down with a reno couple who benefitted from a home loan financing program. when he took office, one in
