the question is what will facebook investors do after its initial opening. on friday mark zuckerberg rang the nasdaq opening bell remotely. but there were delays in trading right out of the gate. now nasdaq's chief executives are saying he's embarrassed by 20 minute trading delays on friday saying processing facebook massive trade volume added two milliseconds to the time it took to come out with an opening price. in that blink of an eye cancellation ordered kept interrupting the orders. now all of that left average investors with no more in their pocket. 1,000 facebook employees became instantly wealthy. >> first time i have been with an ipo. company. >> reporter: how rich are you today? >> i'm not going to comment on that. founder mark zuckerberg earned a little more than millions. he's a billionaire now after friday's ipo and capped it off on saturday with a little ceremony. he married his long-time girlfriend. reporting live in menlo park noelle walker. a five-year-old boy is dead after being hit by a car in richmond. that happened at about 4:15 saturday afternoon in the parchester village neighborhood. they believe the boy ran into the street and hit by a mini van. he died hours later at the hot preponderate. the driver of the mini van stopped and not suspected of any wrong doing. a new report is raising concerns about pipeline safety. the chronicle reports pg&e exceeded the designated maximum pressure on the pipelines more than 120 times since the disaster in san bruno two years ago. it's causing concern among many safety experts including the

new head of pg&e gas division. the utility promises a full investigation. >> we know we have a lot of work to do to rebuild the trust of our customers and that is exactly what we are doing. going through our records, identifying these problems and taking aggressive action. >> the chronicles information came from an internal e-mail written by the gas division chief three weeks ago. 4:32. the highway patrol is looking for witnesses of an attack on highway 101. that happened yesterday at about 8:00 a.m. following a crash in belmont. the chp says a 19-year-old driver was awe tack disturb -- was attacked by a group of motorcyclist when he hit one of them. authorities say the driver was punched in the head and threatened with a knife. the driver and two motorcyclists were treated for minor injuries. no arrests have been made. two motorcyclists are dead after two separate crashes. in fremont a 54-year-old man

was killed yesterday. police say a driver pulled out of a driveway on fremont boulevard around 6:00 last night. the motorcyclist was unable to stop and hit the car. he was pronounced dead at the hospital. in san mateo county a motorcyclist was killed on pescadero road. the highway patrol says the motorcyclist collided with a car. another one was killed on that same stretch of road on saturday. san francisco police are still looking for the driver who hit and critically injured a well known homeless man. coming up in 11 minutes how neighbors are coming together to help the man and his family. chicago bracing for more demonstrations today. the last day of the nato summit. at one point yesterday police used batons to keep protestors from advancing toward the convention center. they arrested 45 people and four officers suffered injuries

including an officer that was stabbed in the leg. many downtown businesses told their employees to stay home today. inside the nato summit today afghanistan tops the agenda. leaders from 60 countries will outline plans for turning over the responsibility of combat operations to afghan forces by 2014. president obama will try to get commitments from other countries to share in the cost of building up afghan forces which is $4 billion a year. >> the world is behind the strategy that we played out. now it's our task to implement it, effectively. >> chicago is the first city in the u.s. outside of washington, d.c. to host a nato summit it's a chance for president obama to show off his hometown. here in the bay area activists also protested against the nato summit. the afghan war and other issues. code pink took over the university avenue foot bridge above interstate 80.

signs said stop militarizing our earth and disban nato. they tore down some of the signs yesterday afternoon and they will make a complaint. they sent an officer to check if the signs were a traffic hazard. 4:35 is the time. oakland police are involved in the investigation of a warehouse fire that revealed a large marijuana grow operation. the fire in the building on broadway near 30th street started just after 4:00 saturday morning. when fire crews arrived flames were shooting 30 feet into the air. after getting the fire under control firefighters found 200 marijuana plants, lamps, and a filtering system. no injuries reported. in san francisco fire investigators are still looking into what sparked a house fire that sent three people to the hospital. a neighbor shot this video saturday night on lucy street in the bay view district. witnesses say that fire started

during a party. three people were sent to the hospital for burns and smoke inhalation. people here in the bay area are among the millions around the world that enjoyed a rare street last night. the moon nearly blotted out the sun to create a dramatic ring of fire. we are using time lapse photography to show you the eclipse from start to finish. it passed in front of the sun to have a golden ring. >> it's unusual for the events to be around the bay area. the next one won't be until 2023. >> hundreds of stargazers attending a viewing party in the east bay hills. they cheered with excitement as the moon crossed the sun and the blazing halo of light began to form. now we want to show you another look. look at this the eclipse. these amazing pictures were taken from an observatory in reno. you can see the full ring of

car near their hotel when the attackers pulled up in another car and opened fire with machine guns. overnight in a separate incident 38 soldiers were killed in a suicide attack. military officials say the bomber was a soldier that was taking part in a military parade rehearsal. three climbers are dead and two others are missing after scaling mount everest over the weekend. the climbers were descending on saturday they are believed to have died from exhaustion and altitude. in northern italy thousands of people spent the night in their cars or at tent camps in the aftermath of a deadly earthquake. dozens of aftershocks rattled the area and it's raining in the area this morning. at least six people were killed in sunday's magnitude 6.0 quake. many homes were left weakened.

historic buildings were damaged or destroyed. in mississippi a correction officer is dead following a prison riot. smoke was visible from outside the correctional facility yesterday where inmates tried to take it over. dozens of hostages were being held. a prison guard reportedly died from head injuries. five other workers and three inmates were hurt but nonprisoners escape. authorities did take back control last night and they are investigating what sparked the violence. the prison houses adult men who are in the united states illegally. time now is 4:46. san francisco police continue to search for the driver who hit a homeless man and drove off. 62-year-old selester rowe is in critical condition. he was hit while crossing the street saturday night. rowe's family that flew into alabama said they had no idea he was homeless. he has a degree in engineering

after relearned ravi had spied on him. the naacp will hold a press conference to talk about the same sex marriage. they voted saturday to call it equal right. but not everyone agrees with the change of heart that president obama says led him to support sex marriage. on thursday a dozen pastors in memphis opposed what is called the hijacking of the civil rights movement. after leaving the nato summit today president obama will go to southwest missouri to give the commencement address to the graduating class of joplin high school. the school was destroyed in a powerful tornado one year ago. 161 people were killed there and joplin high school was one of the hundreds of buildings that were destroyed. joplin high school students have been attending classes at a mall. >> we get support from each

other and our teachers and it helps us grow stronger and stronger. >> the tornado destroyed five schools in joplin. the district hopes to rebuild all of them in time for the 2014-2015 school year. a state lawmaker from southern california is due in the courtroom today. roger hernandez is facing drunk driving charges following his arrest in concord last march. police say he refused to take a breathalyzer test after they spotted his state car we've -- weaving on the road. but blood test taken later said his blood alcohol was above the legal limit. 4:49. today is the last day to register to vote in the june 5th presidential is. you can find them on the

secretary state website. contra costa county school district is moving closer to regaining control from the state. on wednesday the school board will vote on a resolution to move forward with the state loan payoff. the district says the state superintendent also indicated conditions have been met to release a state opponented trustee who has been tracking district spending. the district has been paying off the loan for 20 years. the final payment is expected in august 2015. today san mateo congresswoman jackie spear is holding a town hall meeting focused on veterans. veterans have to wait near lay year for their disability claims to be processed add the regional center in oak lands. that office handles the paper work from bakersfield all the way to oregon border. today's meeting starts at 1:00 this afternoon and va staff will be there to help vets with their claims.

welcome back to the ktvu channel 2 morning news. time now 4:53. singer donna summer will be laid top rest today in a private funeral service in nashville, tennessee. the 63-year-old died last week after battling lung cancer. she was diagnosissed last year but only her immediate family knew she was sick. summer earned the title of queen of disco after releasing a string of dance hits in the 9170 -- 1970s. hundreds of immigrants are

expected to march through the street of sacramento. this is is the 16th annual immigrant day. bus loads of people will arrive in the state capitol this morning and they want to draw issues that effect them and plan to meet with state lawmakers throughout the day. the historic u.s.s. iowa will be in the bay area longer. a storm brewing off the california coast prompted officials to delay the journey. the trip will be rescheduled when the weather clears. possibly later this week. it is going to los angeles to become a floating museum. 96% of all california drivers wear seat belts but if you are not of that group, this would be a great time to start. police have issued three million tickets during similar campaigns during the last five years. that is the equivalent of one ticket every other second. the minimum fine for an adult not buckling up is $142 and the

minimum for a child violating the law is $445. which sal typically is the adult probably not enforcing the proper safety restraints for the child. >> no, it's interesting how i remember when it was like you didn't put your seat belt on now i don't feel right unless it's on. >> yeah i started from day one. my parents said if you're going to drive you need to wear your seat belt. >> good morning, everybody let's take a look at the commute now if you are driving to the east bay or north bay. there might be a little fog on the golden gate bridge. also this mornings commute looks good at the bay bridge toll plaza. very small delay. no problems no metering lights getting on the bridge. if you are driving from livermore to castro valley so far so good. southbound 880 traffic looks fine and we're looking at the santa clara valley off to a nice start there as well.

let's go to steve. >> thank you, sir. a very sunny weekend. fog continues to come in and increase as the system moves to the north. it's the first day of what looks like a strong cooling trend which will take us to thursday and friday and then a rebound on the temps. system will spin in a few high clouds to the north. multiple layers. it's really the breeze that is the key here. it's already beginning to pick up west wind or southwest wind. it's the sea breeze direction. everything is in place for that westerly breeze. the key is the low will sit up here for the entire week. high pressure will build out here. that will give us more of a north west direction. fog, sun partly sunny. partly cloudy. coastal clouds. that wind picks up. a lot of 70s here or very low 80s. 50s and 60s and 70s. low to mid 80s. it might take another day before inland areas cool down.

temperature loss continue their slide. really strong low for this time of year will drop in probably around sacramento i don't think there is any rain with it. if you are going to the mountains it will be noticeably cooler up there. it does look better for sunday and monday. >> thank you, steve. the tour of california is in the books and robert is the winner. the tour's final stage was in l.a. yesterday. peter won the stage. he did win five of the tours eight stages but the individual time trial did him in. it's quite a time for gesink who broke his leg. the new reports that indicate the warriors may be heading to san francisco. >> and it's round two for facebook on the stock market. the questions being raised about how the initial stock offering was handled.
