he deliberately jumped. he surfaced and was able to make it to shore. the man was picked up by a helicopter. and a 13-year-old boy was trapped on the ledge above a 270-foot water fall. on saturday the boy was hiking with his father when he decided to test out the water. that is when he slipped before gaping his footing and climbing on to allege. he was there on that ledge and it took two dozen rescuers and several attempts. rescuers camped out that night with him before they picked him up the next morning. family and friends gathered at alameda high school at the funeral for thomas fogty.
