possible gas leak forced the evacuation of two schools. news chopper 2 is live over the scene, an hour ago someone reported smelling gas near the schools. both schools are on williams street. school officials moved all students and staff to a nearby field as you can see in this video. alameda county firefighters and pg&e crews arrived to investigate but just in the past 10 minutes the students were allowed back inside the schools. we just got off the phone with a pg the pg&e spokeswoman who said they are working on it. now for the first time the video showing her bruised arm has been released. he has seen the video, when was it released david and what

prompted the release to happen? >> reporter: tori, we obtained the video at 9:00 a.m. from the city attorney's office here at city hall, released after a number over public records requests made by the media, including ktvu. the contents have been known for months. the district attorney's office released a transcript and still pictures that shows the sheriff's wife tearfully displaying a bruce he caused on december 31st. she says it is not the first time this has happened and she says she is making the video for use at a possible child custody fight. their attorneys have fought to prevent its use in his case and his current misconduct hearing. they have argued it is misleading and violates her rights to privacy, the courts have disagreed, here is an excerpt from the video.

to continue deliberating on the others. he is accused of using money from donors to hide his mistressing 2008. the defense is seeking a mistrial on those counts. the judge is said to be weighing the options. turning now to the current presidential race, mitt romney's visit to the bay area took an unexpected turn this morning after last night's successful fundraiser the gop presidential candidate decided to stop by the former offices of solyndra, lorain blanco joins us to explain how this all went down. good afternoon. >> reporter: good afternoon, well, just like at many other campaign stops romney told the press the president does not know how to create jobs or sometime stimulate the economy. he got off the bus and deemed it a failure. a surprise stop at solyndra for mitt romney, he says it serves

vanished march 16th after leaving home to catch a bus to school. the sheriff says the search will resume on monday. a former -- we actually have new information this noontime about that deadly attempted jewelry store robbery in san ramon. police say four men stormed into golden treasures jewelry store on san ramon valley boulevard yesterday looking to rob it. police now say at least one of the men was armed with a gun and attacked a customer who was inside the store. that is when things got really intense. an employee or the store owner pulled a gun and shot one of the suspects. >> he was visibly upset, everybody in the store was upset, there was a man in there threatening everybody with a firearm and it was pretty stressful in there. >> the suspect staggered away and died at the hospital.

police identified him as 18- year-old cebram byrue, they got away in a car. a former teacher is facing charges of child porn. he was arrested yesterday afternoon. it followed an investigation after police received a report he had child porn. he lost his job once the district learned of the investigation. right now police do not think he committed any lewd or inappropriate acts with students. the preliminary hearing has resumed in the brian stowe case to determine if two suspects in the giants fan beating should be tried for the crime. ktvu's claudine wong is following the story and let's us know if any critical information has come out today in the courtroom in los angeles, claudine. >> reporter: this morning in court a los angeles police detective on the stand talking about investigating the case and the beating of brian stowe. this is video we want to show you we just got into our newsroom of the prosecutor

asking the detective about the case and other results that day, more than 800 tips came in as police were investigating. >> -- robbery homicide division investigate each and every one of those results? >> yes. >> did the robbery homicide division follow up on each and every one of the 868 tips and clues? >> yes. >> also in court today the d.a. compared pictures of louis sanchez and marvin norwood pointing out resemblances, they said they helped lead to their arrest. the prosecution established they were at dodger stadium that day. several witnesses testifying yesterday to bad behavior inside the park by the two. now we are getting temperature about their behavior in the parking lot. 1 witness testified today she saw them in the parking lot first harassing a group of teenaged boys then adult men. she did not witness the beating. that is the testimony we are

still waiting for. >> so some witness will have to come forward and say those are the two that were there and either one or both of them actually struck stowe. >> to date the defendant marvin himself may have provided some of the best testimony, in evidence submitted yesterday he told his mother over the phone while being recorded by police that he was there and he was involved. brian stowe's family said earlier this week he still doesn't remember it and in court today the prosecution also introduced a document making it clear the injuries he suffered last year are ones that will stay with him for a lifetime. >> brian stowe will require skilled long-term care and daily assistance for the remainder of his life. does counsel so stipulate? >> again all they are trying to do is establish there is enough to take this to trial. experts expect that to happen. keep in mind this is also a

southbound 280 to northbound highway 85 in cupertino is still closed this noontime. cal trans is repairing a guardrail damaged early this morning after a big rig overturned. it happened just before 3:30 a.m. the truck was carrying 80,000 pounds of dried cement. some of it spilled along with diesel fuel from the truck. the driver was not seriously injured. he says he believes the truck had a mechanical problem. >> i don't know. it happened you know. it -- mechanical you know. i don't -- it just -- i go every day -- every day here you know you know every day two times, three times a day you know. >> the highway patrol is estimating the ramp will re- open around 3:00. there were also traffic problems in oakland. a big rig crashed into the guardrails on northbound i ate 80 around high street this morning. several lanes were closed for hours. the driver told investigators he swerved to avoid a car.

the truck's fuel tank ruptured and spilled fill. they are pleading for help in finding his killer. he was on his way home. his wife says he was a hard working family men with three children who was never in any trouble. >> please, whoever did this, please, please, somebody if anybody know anything, if anybody heard anything, please just come forward and give this information out please. >> police say the person who shot kid might have been in a newer model audi, possibly an a- 4 with tinted windows. sunnyvale police have ooforted have a arrested a 25- year-old man on homicide charges. he was at the wheel when his car ran over jennifer flores.

she had been a passenger in the car. police say he went to india the next day but they negotiated with his attorney and he returned last night where detectives arrested him. during the past hours san francisco's mayor laid out his two year spending plan for the city at the board of supervisors meeting and it is expected to include money to high new workers. the mayor has set aside funds for six police academy classes with 50 recruits each and he wants two fire departments academies for a total of 84 new firefighters. the budget includes training for 30 new medical technicians. more on this at 5:00. the last remaining bay area contest contestant was eliminated this morning. he failed to spell a brand of strong soft milk cheese with a creamy center made in small rec

forecast. temperatures peaking. here is a live look outside the golden gate way in the distance with mostly sunny conditions but patchy fog near parts of the shoreline. this has been clearing out there as you can see a lingering patch on the san mateo coastline south of pillar point around pescadero. as far as headline forecasts today we do have this, more sunshine and i mentioned. cool things off coast side for friday but still hot numbers inland. the weekend everybody cools off especially as we could head into sunday for the second half of the weekend. here is a look at some of the current numbers updated and already at this 12:00 hour 80s toward fairfield and livermore, 66 there and san jose 77. high pressure has been in command of our weather and strengthens for today. with this high in place that is sinking air and that is warming air and as a result temperatures today up to a good 4 to 8 degrees from yesterday. so of course, we had the micro

climates with clearing skies for the beaches, temperatures 60s, the other extreme inland warming back up with temperatures around 90 to 93. here is our forecast model though, some changes as early as tonight. the fog regrouping coast side. this could be locally dense, around the shoreline, near parts of the bay tomorrow morning then into the afternoon hours the temperatures range from the low 60s for the beaches, lots of 80s inland. the warmest locations inland could be right around the 90 degree mark but everybody does cool off a bit tomorrow then we will really cool things off over the weekend. forecast highs this afternoon around 3:00 or 4:00 maxing out in the 60s for half moon bay. san jose 85 and fremont 83. here is your five-day-forecast with your weekend always in view, coast side for friday, everybody goes cooler for saturday but especially by sunday, sunday will be the coolest day of the weekend and
