tenderloin district. officers were called to ellis street shortly after 1:00. police tell us a victim was cut but they don't know if the weapon used in the attack was a knife. the victim was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. a bicyclist was killed overnight in a head on crash with an suv in sonoma county. the suv hit the bicyclist just before midnight on old river road in holly dale. that is just northwest of santa rosa. the chp says the bicyclist described as a man in his 30s put himself in a dangerous situation. >> the cyclist was riding during darkness with no lighting device. apparently riding in the opposing lane against traffic. >> the suv hit him head on. he was dead when officers arrived. the driver is cooperating with investigators and was not arrested but the crash does remain under investigation. two separate shootings in

oakland last night injured three people including two juveniles. the first happened on 63rd street shortly after 9:00. friends of one victim drove him to the hospital. the 15-year-old was shot in the leg and they do not belief he was -- believe he was the intended target. a second victim was shot in the stomach and transported by ambulance to the hospital. we don't know their current conditions or what led up to this attack. so far no word of any arrest. 4:32. oakland police say another juvenile was shot and injured in a separate shooting. that happened on 93rd avenue at about 9:45 last night. an ambulance rushed the victim to the hospital. we do not know his condition. police say there are no suspects. an altered photo of murdered vallejo police officer jim capoot may have cost a state worker his job. according to the times hearld

steve johanson was fired after he forwarded an offensive photo on the work computer. it shows trayvon martin's face photo shopped on to capoot's face. he forwarded the e-mail to get advice on how to response. san francisco's ethics commission will meet on june 19th to begin deciding if ross mirkarimi will get his job back. the panel will take a close look at the video that set off the scandal. >> this happened yesterday. 2011. and this is the second time it's happening. and i said ross we need help. >> the city attorney released the 45 second tape yesterday. it shows mirkarimi's wife there

of taxpayer money. >> romney's appearance comes on the heels of an attack ad accusing president obama of wasting money. a spokeswoman issued a statement saying in fact both republican and democratic administrations advanced solyndra's application. meantime an exclusive new ktvu field poll on the presidential race in california shows president obama leading mitt romney 48% to 32%. the survey also finds 17% of voters are still undecided. that is more than in previous surveys. time now 4:35. california's elected leaders are taking pay cuts. they have ordered the redictions. coming up in ten minutes the size of the salary cuts and when they will take effect. sierra lamar's friends are planning another rally for her tonight. the hope and faith rally will be held at fremont washington high. some 400 people attended a

candle light vigil at the school shortly after she vanished in march. they are not giving up hope she is alive. still the santa clara county's dive team will resume its search on monday. the man accused of killing sierra went fishing there around the time she vanished. that man antolin garcia torres made his court appearance yesterday. they charged him with one count of murder. it was a significant change and gamble for prosecutors. >> the da office has gone all in on the murder case. there is no second count of kidnapping. that sends the signal they believe is a a strong case for murder. >> garcia-torres did not enter a plea. the next hearing is scheduled for july 10th. in a few hours testimony

will resume in the bryan stow beating case. a judge in los angeles is holding a preliminary hearing to see if there is enough evidence to try the two suspects. they are accused in the attack outside dodgers stadium on opening day last year. witnesses are providing graphic testimony of the vicious beating. >> i heard bryan hit the pavement. it sounded like a thud like someone's head was smashing against the pavement on the parking lot. >> prosecutors are also releasing details about bryan stow's current condition. he suffered permanent brain damage that attack and unable to walk and talk. the 43-year-old stow is the father of two children. our channel 2 website has more information on the bryan stow beating case. just go to ktvu.com and click on the bryan stow tab.

there is helpful news about the man that survived a week without water after crashing his car. he was found koa mottoes in the woods. although he is still in the hospital and cannot speak, his sister tells the mercury news he is more alert. he was able to communicate by blinking to yes and no questions. right now it's 4:37. we want to check in with sal for a look at the early morning commute. hi sal. >> hello, pam. traffic is moving well around the bay area. right now we will start with the east shore freeway and look at a little road work eastbound that they have been doing every night overnight. sometimes it spills over into the 4:30 hour. usually by 5:00 it's gone. we're waiting for that to happen. also the morning commute looks good if you are driving on westbound bay bridge. the traffic moves along pretty well here. if you are driving in san jose

northbound 280 traffic looks good. now let's go to steve. >> all right, sal, thank you. we have fog on the coast. cool and clear inland. temperatures will come down a little bit. wide variety. anywhere from 60-100-degrees if you are well inland. current temperatures 50s and 60s. 62 livermore. mid 50s around. not much of a sea breeze yet. most locations stay calm. there is a slight component of it. high pressure of it large and in charge. system coming in here doesn't look like much. this time of year it doesn't take much. this will work over the next two or three days. that will not only give the fog a little boost but lift it as we go into the weekend for a cooling trend. today fog and sun. cool, mild to warm or hot. coastal fog is back in a big way. a very colorful map here. we go from 50s and 60s to that would be 100 out there.

so 90s and 100s if you are out toward the valley. 90s on some of the temps. 60s and 70s. temperatures will start their trend down on the coast and around the bay today. and inland temps on saturday. big drop on the temps saturday. and monday and tuesday much, much cooler. >> all right, thank you. 4:39 is the time. back to our developing story in san jose. emergency crews are on the scene of two suspicious early morning fires on the campus of evergreen high school. ktvu tara moriarty joins us from the scene. >> reporter: we are here the evergreen valley high school. when you pull up on the scene you notice there is a dumpster truck and it's completely charred. behind it there is a section of the library where there was another fire. a second one. joining me live is captain reginal williams. he's here to tell us about what happened. you got the call around 2:36

this morning. >> that is correct. the fir dispatch -- the fire dispatch center received a car reporting a fire. >> reporter: it appears the damage is sort of minimal. >> yeah. we will call it minimal to moderate damage. >> reporter: it looks odd the fire was set along the lie briar. it's stucco but it's a completely different color. is that because of the heat? >> that is correct. there was an intense amount of heat along the side of the building. the fire crews had to force entry through this gate. it did not enter the interior of the library. >> reporter: any leads to how this started? >> right now we are calling it suspicious. we have been notified by official there is are surveillance cameras around and a fire investigator will look at those tapes. >> reporter: all right. thank you for joining us. we appreciate it. just so you know this was a

indonesia's west province. a new report says president obama launched cyber attacks at iran. they were aimed at computers that -- under the code name olympic gain. he ordered to accelerate the cyber attacks. it went undetected until 2010 when parts of the operation became public. former presidential candidate john edwards' is walking free from his corruption trial. no official word yet from the justice department on a retrial. but a source familiar with the case says another prosecution probably will not happen. the jury found edwards' not guilty on one charge while deadlocking on five ore counts. >> i want to find the person that should be held accountable

money. a state panel is reducing their salaries by 5%. it says because of california's expected $16 billion budget deficit everyone including those at the top must make sacrifices. governor brown will make $160,000 about $9,000 less. legislators will make $90,000. the pay cuts don't go into effect until december. a controversial piece of political art goes on display at the san francisco museum of art. it's of george gas tone yeah who was assassinated. the large scale work was created for the opening of the most cone any center but it was quickly pulled. it was created by sculpture robert. a man that flew to india after killing a woman in

sunnyvale is set to be arraigned today. police arrested 25-year-old pawanjit singh. he's accused of shoving 28-year- old jennifer flores out of an suv. witnesses say he deliberately drove over her and flew to india the next day. police worked with federal agents and singh's attorney to convince him to return to the united states. there is photo of the jewelry store robbery suspect killed in san ramon. this is a picture of 18-year- old kabrum. he was shot by someone in the store after he and three others tried to rob it. one of the four suspects was armed with the gun but a store worker was also armed and he fired. police say they are still searching for the three other suspects. only on 2 later this month

all debate summit hospital plans to close a special unit that provides long-time care to many parents. family of those patients are angry about the move. barbara mims daughter has be there for eight years. she was recently told her daughter and other patients will have to go to nursing homes. one option is the nursing home to be headed up by the medical director of the current facility. >> when you have the same medical director from one facility to the next, it insures the transition will be safer. and less complex. >> i don't want her to go there. she deserves better. >> people in the health care industry say it's not the only hospital moving away from this long-term care. city of san jose is taking a new tactic to clean up a homeless camp. workers hauled away trash. they also removed what they believed were some personal

items. those items will be photographed, logged, and stored in a warehouse for up to 90 days so the owners can retrieve them. tomorrow san francisco firefighters will mark the first anniversary of two colleagues killed on duty. vincent perez and firefighter paramedic anthony valerio died while fighting a house fire. 4:51 is the time. surprise for kids at a bakersfield elementary. their new classmate caught wondering in a playground surveillance video. and can you spell winner. we will introduce you the spelling bee champion and the word that won her the title.

g-u-e-t-a-p-e-n-s. >> personally i have never heard that word before but a san diego eighth grader has won the national spelling bee. the san jose 13-year-old made it all the way to the sixth round last night. congratulations to them. wells fargo coming to the aid of a ransacked north bay school. thieves took 30 computers over memorial day weekend. the computers valued at $30,000. wells fargo will contribute $15,000 to a replacement fund in an effort to kick start the fundraising. you see kids on a school playground all the time but not cubs. take a look at this a young bear caught on surveillance video running through an elementary school.

an outdoors ceremony had to be put on hold. it made its way to an apartment complex where animal control officers caught him and took him back out to the wild. he just wanted to play a little bit. >> yeah he was just running around. i don't know how you feel about that. we have nothing exciting in our compute, pam. >> that is good. >> just the way we like it. traffic is moving along nicely around the bay area on this friday. as we get deeper into june. today is june 1st. we will see lighter traffic at some point in the summer as fewer people are going to school. this is a look at 80 westbound traffic moves along very nicely. no major problems. it doesn't get that light. it's gone to the day where is you can roll tumble weeds. let's go to the toll plaza. no this is san francisco. the bay area has become a lot more crowded. you still see traffic jams unfortunately. some are just not as severe. the next thing we have is the san mateo and the dumbarton bridge the traffic is moving along nicely.

4:55 hello steve. >> it's moving along. >> yeah it is. >> all right good morning. put on your old memory caps here. mike that puts meticulous records in san francisco and reminded me one year ago today it was raining. one year ago today june 1st it was raining. i forgot about that. and we actually had a very wet month last year. and guess what, on monday we could get more rain in here. i know, it's crazy. today will be anywhere from 60- 100 degrees depending on your proximity to the coast or inland locations. no rip roaring sea breeze or screaming message yet. nothing will stop temperatures from warming up. the ridge access is moving. you can see it's more align over nevada than us. it's very shallow but it's there. it's definitely filling in on
