>> reporter: the harris high school campus is cleaner but as you can see, paint still remains on the ground. this could keep students from participating in program. >> i totally saw it as a harmless prank. >> we didn't think it was going -- i thought it was just an innocent prank. >> reporter: about 10 students have already been suspended. dozens more could be punished. many of them may not be able to

participate in graduation ceremonies. >> it is okay to enjoy time in high school but it is not okay to do anything that will deface the school campus. >> reporter: more than 20 seniors were on campus scrubbing up the paint. they hope this shows that they feel remorse. reporting live in brentwood, matt keller. it appears two people who were shot in downtown oakland right now are in stable condition and expected to survive. the shooting happen at 9:30. initial report show the woman was shot in the leg. police say they have not made any arrests or released any

suspect information. vallejo police have yet to make an arrest. one person was killed, three others injured. investigators say the shooting happened shortly at 11:15, a gunman opened fire at a group gathered for a bar-b-que in crest ranch park. >> this is what we know. they were at the park and a black male in a dark vehicle that's who was described as a shooting opened fire and shot all four people. >> reporter: in all four victims made it to area hospitals on their own. a 56-year-old man died of his wounds. a 17-year-old boy is in critical condition. a 67-year-old woman was upgraded to critical condition today. a separate man was shot in the arm. police say they're not the type of people who you would expect to be in a shooting.

>> every shooting is bad, but this one involves a 57 yield man shot, a 67-year-old woman. >> reporter: first a first series of shots, pause then more shots. police and neighbors say that kind of violence is unusual for crest park. >> i'm surprised because i told you nothing happened. i've lived here for a year and it's the first time. >> reporter: vallejo police are still looking for witnesses and they're asking anyone with information to come forward. a sheriff deputy in santa cruz county says it's up to the district attorney to decide whether any charges should be filed against pablo sandoval. sandoval played in stockton for the minor league san jose

giants, he's rehabbing for an injury. the deputy said a sex crimes detective met with sandoval and that he was cooperative. a woman accuses him of rape saying she was too drunk to consent. sandoval's attorney says it was consensual. according to the u.s. geological survey, the epicenter was east-southeast of san jose. the last quake was in 1964. a man rescues his 92-year- old grandmother. the fire broke out on prince and deacon street. berkeley says when he realized the house was on fire, he ran to the sec floor of the house

where his grandmother was sleeping. he then picked her up and took her outside. the lights are finally up in a brisbane neighbor where a downed power line may have sparked a fire. the fire happened near bay shore boulevard. the fire burned at least 10 acres and knocked out power to 50 neighbors. it was one of several small fires that broke out near solano county. the fire forced officials close the southbound lanes of 680 for about five hours. firefighters managed to keep the manage to a minimum with less than an acre burned in all three of those fires. firefighters in san rafael were also busy responding to

small fires. there were eight fires after midnight. in addition to the grass and brush that burned, fishes say some personal belongings and homeless encampments were also lost. no one was injured. crews were challenged because of the fire. tomorrow mark it is first day of ferry service. it's the first new service in decade. debra villalon is live with why transportation officials say there's a need to link the east point and the bay. >> reporter: you're looking at a brand new $25 million terminal that starts taking passengers tomorrow. ktvu was there the last time a

pictures. less than a decade later, the airline has cut it oakland service. when united flight 726 sunday afternoon from oakland to denver disappeared from the boards here it marked the end of an era. >> we've been flying here for over 80 years but it's time for us to expand our san francisco operations and really focus on airports that deliver the most convenience and service to our customers. >> boeing air transport, a predecessor to united airlines began service in oakland. cara liu, ktvu. passengers who booked tickets in advance have been rerouted through san francisco. oakland based employees were offered other jobs and that most will go to san francisco or san jose airport. san francisco airport is still experiencing some flight delays tonight. one of the primary runways used for landing has been closed

down. almost 60% of arrivals are late. the work is expected to be done by tomorrow. a suspected dui driver crashed into a utility pole in san leandro. the chp says a woman drove into the pole at east 14th street at 163rd avenue knocking it down about 10 feet and completely off its foundation. no one was hurt. pg & e crews arrived at the scene to start work on replacing that pole. the utility reports that there are no outages tonight. a new concert brought out thousands of people to enjoy music and support a man and his cause. as ktvu's ken pritchett reports, the evident was not for the man but to share his unusual story. his fingers are nimble, what also seems clear is that chris durbey soon won't be able to

a warning tonight for bay area dog owners, a serious illness called kennel cough is spreading. laurane blanco talked about the precautions owners should take. >> meeting and socializing. two of your best friend's thing could hurt him. >> a lot of sneezing, nasal discharge, that classic honking gagging cough. >> good girl, sweetheart. >> reporter: at the animal health clinic, vets have seen close to 20 cases in just the last week. a few cases developed into pneumonia which can be life
