now doing something they've never done before and that has some people concerned. coming to a munni station near you a security that will make decisions on who or what is suspicious. that's right a computer not a human being will analyze video by looking at a network of more than 400 cameras that will be mounted on stations and tunnels throughout the nummi system. >> behavior analytics are built into the cameras and that will help us determine what the trends are in the system. if someone is not where they should be or on a track way or in a tunnel it will be able to alert the system and alert the individuals on duty. >> reporter: the software is designed by labs in texas. i spoke to the ceo about the advantage of having a camera view individuals instead of a human. >> they monitor the camera for about a four hour shift before

they zone out or lose attention. a computer is able to watch them every second of every day 24/7. >> reporter: so how does a system decide what's suspicious. the cameras will detect unusual behavior. >> reporter: if i get off the train and walk toward the exit, but if i turn around and head the other way toward a tunnel then i may be stopped. >> i don't like it. it's government intrusion. >> the way of the future i guess. i don't like it but, not much i can do about it. >> if it's for preventing a robbery or like other crimes then i just, i'm fine. >> reporter: flow the software maker says the cameras cannot tell a difference between the race, identity or gender of a person. it only detects abnormal behavior. this $2 million system should be up and running according to nummi officials by this time next year. live in san francisco, sal castaneda, ktvu news. in concord police are recommending that a teenage driver involved in a crash that killed a father and his young

daughter face criminal charges. we first reported this new development on ktvu.com. the 17-year-old driver lost control of his cadillac escalade on april 7th striking suloman murray and the 9-year- old and 12-year-old daughters. nori and his 9-year-old daughter were killed. the contra costa county d.a. will decide if the teen will be charged as a juvenile and whether to file the charge as a felony or as a misdemeanor. new information now on the body of a woman that was found in a trash can in pleasanton. police tell ktvu they have received more phone calls since releasing this sketch of the woman yesterday afternoon. officers are now following up on leads but that's all that they are saying. the woman's decomposing body was found in the trash can on dublin county road on may 24th. the coroner has yet to determine exactly how she died.

some developing news right now in the north bay repair crews are on the scene of a water main break in sausalito at this hour. ktvu news was over the scene. part of the street which is a main thoroughfare is flooded. the marin municipal water district began to make repairs. no word on when water service might be repaired. it appears a small grass fire was sparked. it burned about 2 acres before richmond fire controlled it. the sister of one of the defendants who's actually engaged to marry the other, took the stand and ktvu's christien kafton was in the los

angeles courtroom when she described the events leading right up to and right after the violent confrontation,chris to the -- christien. >> reporter: now we're getting a clear picture of what the defendants were doing before and after the fight. this morning, dorene sanchez was called to the stand. she testified that her brother spent much of the game harassing fans. >> he was rude, loud. >> when you say rude, what do you mean by that. >> just pretty much saying boo giants. >> besides boo giants was he saying anything else? >> [ bleep ] the giants >> reporter: she says her brother disappeared into the crowd pursuing the men with

marvin norwood close blind. - - close behind. but says she was alarmed when the two returned with blood on them and they told her to get them out of area. >> not until i seen blood on marvin's hand when we were just about exiting the stadium. >> reporter: eventually police arrested sanchez and norwood. today they heard a conversation between norwood and sanchez speaking about being involved in a fight. >> reporter: also in court today prosecutors played a tape of the two suspects in jail talking to one another. we tried to listen to that tape but it was very muffled and hard to understand. the judge however would not release a transcript of it because he says it could sway potential jurors. now the judge rather could decide whether this case will

go to trial as early as tomorrow. we're live in los angeles, christien kafton, ktvu channel 2 news. and stay with us on ktvu.com, our complete coverage of the bryan stow case including more video and testimony from inside the courtroom. we posted it there on the website. three san jose teenagers are in custody in suspicion of burglarizing several homes. police say they arrested two 16- year-old boys and a 14-year-old as they tried to break into a home on sea cliff drive. the three were involved in at least two other home burglaries and one attempted burglary. the alameda county district attorney has now dropped most of the charges against those occupy the farm protesters. nine people were arrested at the gill tract in albany and booked for unlawful assembly and trespassing. a spokeswoman for the alameda county d.a said that charges against seven of those protesters have now been dismussed quote in the interest of justice.

the u.s. transportation secretary today awarded california more than $1 million to crack down on distracted drivers. details of the federal grant were announced today in sacramento. the money will go toward a new nationwide program called phone in one hand, ticket in the other. >> california will be receiving about $1.5 million in federal support for this project. now these funds will go toward increased law enforcement, more media, and good solid scientific evaluation. >> california and delaware are the first two states in the nation to receive the federal dollars. the u.s. transportation secretary ray lahood said the money is as an incentive to get states to get tough on the measure. and you can go to ktvu.com to learn on why you should wait to text. the antioch school board is not giving up on a bond measure to renovate one of its schools.

be in the tenderloin. i don't want to be out in hunters point. it's just the prices in the city are just very high. >> you're competing with folks that are in the tech industry and younger and are willing to pay more. >> reporter: san francisco mayor ed lee announced he's launching a campaign called homes for heros. >> i can't think of a more patriotic thing to do than to find a homeless veteran their home. >> reporter: he wants to house 50 veterans in the next 100 days. veterans who have vouchers but have trouble convincing landlords to rent to them. part of it is to educate landlords about vouchers. >> if you have a unit that's available please offer that up for use. these are great vouchers. it's money behind it. >> the veterans are going against everybody else. >> reporter: vets say they could improve their lives if they could only find a place to live. >> once i finish school and if

i have affordable housing, i can get a decent job. >> reporter: some veterans have been waiting years and the list keeps growing. reporting live in san francisco, rob roth, ktvu channel 2 news. workers at an east bay refinery have come to an agreement. the united steel workers say employees in martinez voted last night to accept the company's contract offer. this was the last tesoro contract to be ratified. workers in hawaii, utah, north dakota and washington all came to an agreement. the union represents about 450 workers at the tesoro plant in martinez. the new service is called

criminal justice says police are trained to use force depending on the threat level. he says it's not because they're reacting to a heightened sense of danger but because they are actually in threatening situations. last year 173 police officers lost their lives in the line of duty in the united states. 173. that's totally unacceptable. >> according to riv era officers shoot to kill and the fact that the oakland suspect survived last night's shooting was simply a matter of chance. reporting live in san francisco, patti lee, ktvu news. pg & e crews have repaired a gas line that ruptured last night when and alleged drunk driver crashed into a utility pole. this was the seen last night. the crash cause add power line to come down which then punctured a pg & e gas line

under ground. the accident cut power to about 1,200 people. >> we can show folks out there any number of pipes that have been mangled by third party contractors, even homeowners like you and i installing sprinklers in their yards. >> crews repaired the gas line by late this morning. an unusual and emotional reunion took place today at the medical center in san francisco. it was at that hospital where four kidney transplant recipients met their donors. the meeting follows a four way kidney swap that happened back in may. here's how it worked. a computer program allowed a friend or spouse who had volunteered to donate a kidney but was not an ideal match to donate their kidney to someone else. and then in return, their spouse or friend would get a kidney as well. >> it's very exciting to be part of something like this. and be able to help just like he said two people at once.

circling right here. here's where the fog is. and now they can take a live camera to that exact same spot and you're looking at the fog coming in on twin peaks and across daly city. you're going to see it early tomorrow when you get up. especially down along the coast. tomorrow is cooler just by virtue of that push of fog. there's a weather system north that i've been tracking. so you get a little push inland. that's where we are right now. overnight lows tonight not that different from that last couple of nights. just a little warmer. you see that fog, san rafael, redwood city, down toward the fremont area you're going to see a little bit of fog. i don't suspect you're going to see fog yet. as we head into tomorrow, the onset wind is going to keep us call out along the coast and

through the san bruno. this is actually a really good scenario for your weekend especially if you like outdoor activity. saturday and sunday, real nice. sunday the warmest day on the weekend with temperatures into the upper 90s, toward antioch. the forecast for fog along the coast you will see it just lingers there like i did today. tomorrow morning, a little bit of fog. and during the day things start to warm up. temperatures in the valley are going to be in the 80s but you see for us this cooler temperature pattern with drops five to 10 degrees than what they were today. just know that as we head toward saturday and sunday the numbers come back up. there's been subtle changes. sunday will be noticeably warmer. sunday is going to be the day you think it's kind of hot. and the five day forecast with just a good looking weather pattern. we have some nice heat coming for the weekend. i think inland cities on sunday
