880. watch for debris in one of the lanes, 4:30 this is a look at northbound 101. that traffic is light. growth back to the desk. we begin with breaking news from san jose where police are on the scene at a deadly shooting at a bar. it happened within the last two hours. cara lieu just arrived on the scene. >> as soon as we got here we noticed just how many police cars with here. if you take a look we counted roughly a dozen polices cars and many more officers. police are telling us this is their 18th homicide investigation of the year. they got this call around 2:30 this morning. it was a 9-1-1 call that came in about a shooting at a karaeke bar on center road. when we got here we saw police had a man in handcuffs. we also saw a number of what looked like witnesses standing on the corner here around the

corner from where it looked like the shooting may have taken place. police also telling us the victim they believe is a 24- year-old man. he was pronounced dead here on the scene. at this point they don't know how this happened or why but the homicide unit is out here investigating. also about 15 minutes ago we saw crime scene technicians pull up so they will be here collecting evidence trying to piece this crime together. of course we will stay on scene here outside this karaeke bar outside this crime scene and let you know any updates as soon as we get them. ktvu channel 2 news. we have some amazing video of a high speed chase. take a look. you're seeing sparks flying from the wheels of a stolen pickup truck. it had gone over a police spike strip. the hour long chase began in pittsburgh last night and ended on interat a time 680 near

alamo. proceeds reached 100 miles an hour. the want got out of the truck and surrendered. we have new video of police activity in ant crock. at about 9:00 last night police and firefighters with at this home on york shire drive. now, we saw them taping off the area and knocking out part of the wall in the garage. a police officer on the scene told our photographer that there was a large marijuana grow operation happening at that home. gilroy police reportedly looking into whether the suspect in the sierra lamar case is linked to several unsolved child annoyance case in gilroy. this is a picture of garcia torrez next to a police sketch of a man who police say tried to lure children into his car on july 26 and on august 3rd. police tell the gilroy that recent information helped them identify a suspect but cannot release a name until channels are filed or an arrest is made. the cases involve three girls

and one boy ages 9 to 15. the district attorney is now reviewing those cases. now meantime, garcia torrez is getting a new attorney. he will now be represented by a lawyer from the alternate defenders office. his former attorney is leaving the case citing an unspecified conflict of interest. garcia torrez next court appearance has been postponed from july 10th to july 31st. concord police have recommended a vehicular mm- hmmnd mm-hmm charge against a 17-year-old driver. the teenager avoided our cameras outside his home yesterday. two months ago he lost control of his car on treat boulevard in concord, crashing into a family riding their bikes. fill mononuri and his 9-year- old daughter were killed. the nuri family attorney wants the driver charged as an adult. >> i hope they treat him as an adult because of what he did.

there's two lives that have been taken, a father and a daughter. >> the decision now rests with the district attorney's office. details of what was found in the two month investigation are not being revealed, but police say in order to recommend a vehicular manslaughter charge they have to find some degree of recklessness. it's 4:30 pennsylvania. it's been one month since a concord girl was injured in a hit and run. police say alina llama key was playing at 6th street in clayton road when she ran into the street street and was hit by a truck. the driver did not stop and has not been found. alima suffered a broken leg and her ankle and tendons were badly damaged. her father says her daughter has undergone eight surgeries. people in elusory doe are

mourning the loss of an elderly woman struck and killed by a bicyclist. what neighbors are saying about the intersection where the deadly crash happened. testimony should end today in the pretile hearing of two men charged with beating fans. on the stand yesterday was dorene sanchez, the sister of the defendant louie sanchez and the fiancee of the other defendant marvin norwood. now, she testified that her brother yelled at giants fans during the game that day and that tensions escalated afterwards in the parking lot. she said the two men disappeared, then came rushing back ordering her to quickly drive them away. >> no, no until i actually seen blood on marvin's hand when we were just about exiting the stadium. >> another witness testified

seeing stows head hitting the pavement. we do have complete coverage of the case online. you're going to find more video and testimony from inside the courtroom. that's at our web site ktvu.com. a well-known attorney is representing the family of a teenage boy shot and killed by south san francisco police. a few dozen friends and relatives of 15-year-old derrick gaines gathered at the gas station where he was gunned down tuesday night. they held signs and scrawled condolences on the railing around the gas station. the gaines family has hired lawyer john burris to help investigate the circumstances of the shooting. >> the question is was this a racial profiling stop. was there some fact that sported that. and of course after that what were the circumstances of justifying the shooting of him. >> police say the officer shot gaines in self-defense and that the teenager pulled a gun first. the number of recent police shootings around the bay area is raising questions about

excessive force. in oakland police shot a 22- year-old man on wednesday night after police say he reached for a weapon during a scuffle. there have also been police shootings in caster valley and valet hoe. this year in oakland there have been five police shootings so far. that compares to five in all of last year. >> are officers shooting first or are they trained to use it as a last resort. >> they are trained to use force depending on the threat level that they perceive. >> oakland's assistant plaintiff police chief says the city has an epidemic in terms of the amount of guns out on the street. police say they recovered 400 firearms this year alone. more students could be banned from tomorrow's graduation ceremony in brent wood because of last week's senior prank. graduation practice is scheduled for today, but school administrators met last night

30s and yesterday was 40s, low 50s, now it's mainly low to mid- 50s. a little bit of a sea breeze, nothing outrageous but from sfo out to travis and even napa aten 7 miles per hour. the system is on it way through so that will drop temperatures subtly today. tomorrow we'll rebound looks like a pretty rapid warmup as we go into sunday and monday but it will be a roller coaster. sunny mild to warm, a little breezy at times. we've been dealing with a lot of the wind factor lately as it really cranks up lately. another day where temperatures really not moving too much. 60 passive coo, 82 ant crock, 74 valet hoe. maybe some patchy fog sat but after that it's good to go with sunshine, with warm to hot conditions especially late sunday to monday. looks like a cool down starts on tuesday pam.

wheelchair. he lost both his legs to cancer in 1991. eight people involved in a rare four way kidney transplant have finally met. the kidney recipients needed donations to survive and all had spacious friends willing to donate, but the halves of each couple were not good matches so the donors offered their kidneys in exchange to a better match. that led to what is called a four way in one day made possible because of special software designed by another kidney recipient. >> doctors have options, and there are possibilities for a lot more people now. >> david jacobs software has helped a total of 44 kidney patients at california pacific so far. he said it's vital to get a match because the risk of dying while on dialysis can be as high as 20%. the city of pleasant hill

welcome back to the ktvu channel morning news time now 4:53. you have less than 15 hours to put in your bid to have lunch with warren buffett. he's holding his annual ebay auction, the current bid is more than $400,000, but that's nowhere near last year's winning bid of $2.6 million. drivers in south san francisco's neighborhood market will now have to slow down on some streets. the speed limit on stretches of howard full son, harris and bryant streets has been lowered, now 25 miles per hour. city officials say they want to improve safety in neighborhood. we want to go back over to sal and check in on any traffic problems. >> we are looking for stuff but there's not a lot going on which is nice. we don't want to find stuff when we look.

we just want to make sure it's not there. let's take a look, northbound 101 approaching the 80 split. that looks pretty good and no major problems this morning as we drive into downtown san francisco. we're looking also at getting to san francisco to the east bay and the traffic looks pretty good at the toll plaza. it's very light on the bridge as well. and if you are driving on the from vallejo to richmond, that's a good start. mostly clear friday morning, some fog is going down the coast and still a system up in the pacific northwest but between the two the high pressure says i really haven't been around too much, so we're not going to get really a strong high pressure system but it will tart to warm up on saturday as we get rid of that low to the north. it's warming up inland. this will take us into the weekend and then along the coast clearing 60s and also 70s so things have been looking better. one system yesterday just kind

of skirting right along the oregon border, a low still up in the pacific northwest and it's moving and after that high pressure will build in, 50s, low, mid -- not really upper but they're much -- it's been rather cool, westerly breeze, there's no component of an offshore breeze. good old fashioned high pressure. sunny today, warm still a little breezy at times, cool mild to warm actually very comfortable for some. temperatures though showing signs of warming up a little bit but nothing outrageous yet. we'll take that into the weekend. a little warmer than those 50s forecasted. the trend is right. 60s, 70s and low low low 80s, especially towards san holey that, danville, pleasant ton, 72 castro valley, some upper 70s toward low 80s, and also on the peninsula, 4áeud mid-70s with 60s on the coast.
