is at the moment. lorraine? >> reporter: we have been out here since 6:30 a.m. monitoring the process on the water main break in fisherman's wharf. a good dozen businesses here on mason and beach are operating without water. it is out on that side of the street where they are doing the construction right now. also on the zero to 100 block of jefferson. it is a full fledged construction zone as can you see out here right now. >> the water crews are working to repair the water main, it is 6 feet in the ground. we will take a closer look. it took awhile to find the leak. it is deeper than anticipated. it is water and sediment all over the roadway. the busted main had any hope of brushing teeth or showers for residents. for awhile. beach street lived up to its name. >> we don't know what happened.

we saw all the men and sand and gross stuff and had to walk over it. >> it looks like a beach. >> reporter: after the water main is fixed, another crew has to fix the holes and they will flush the main. the water main is from the early 1900s. age is a main contributing factor in the rupture. >> usually it is in situations like this. and the pipe is over a hundred years old. if there is heavy construction on the streets. obviously it was not an earthquake and if the street takes a pounding with bus traffic and accelerate the degradation of the pipeline. >> they are hoping to finish sometime between two and three and back out here live. mason between beach and jefferson is close to traffic. you can see they have the water main and new one, ready to go out there. ready to be replaced. >> businesses are open and you can go ahead and walk in and out of mason street.

you just can't drive your car. >> reporting live in fisherman's wharf. >> this is channel 2 news. >> thank you, lorraine. a pedestrian was taken to san francisco general hospital after he was hit by a muni street car. it happened on market near seventh street. a spokesperson said if a f market street car some how collided with the man. he was trapped underneath the train before firefighters could extricate him. >> the cable car hit the guy and ran over. didn't stop or nothing. kept moving. >> it didn't stop at all. >> there is no word yet on the man's condition but officials on the scene say the injuries were not life threatening. >> san jose police may make an arrest today outside a karaoke bar. this is in a strip mall near burke street. it was a case of too much

alcohol and guns. 25-year-old victim was involved in an argument that escalated. investigators are questioning witnesses and say they have strong leads into identifying the shooter. >> sh is not necessarily a case of who done it, we have strong leads and i am told that the detectives are hoping they will pan out. by the end of today we will have an idea of whether we will have an arrest. >> there is no word yet on what the argument was about. however, police are also investigating whether the shooting can be gang related. the san joaquin police department is investigating a deadly shooting outside at 2:00 a.m. after the bar named the nightclub closed. group of 60 people were standing in the parking lot when an argument and fight broke out. investigators say several shots rank out. three people were hit. one died at the scene and deputies do not have any suspects. >> a story out of gill roy.

people are wondering if the suspect in the sierra lamar disappearance might be tied to reports of a man trying to lure children into his car. the gill roy patch website first pointed out the resemblance between garcia torres and the sketch police released last summer in a child annoyance case. they said they have a suspect in last year's case and will not see if it is garcia torres. in the meantime, the search will continue for sierra lamar and he is due back in court after charges he abducted and murdered the 15-year-old. president obama is once again calling on members of congress to pass the remaining parts of the job bill that will put americans back to work. >> they made a statement and answered questions in the briefing room. this is a week after a release after bleak jobs report indicating recovery in the u.s. has slowed. president obama has said

congress is using election year politics and not passing legislation that would put people back to work. rebuilding roads, bridges and schools. >> if congress decides despite all that, they will not do anything about it because it as election year. they should explain to the american people why. >> the president also said the private sector is doing find. most of the weaknesses in the economy have to do with state and local governments where leaders are not getting the kind of help they have in the past from the federal government. >> presumptive republican candidate mitt romney disagree was president obama's economic view. he said the comment about the private sector quote doing fine "shows what it means to be detached and out of touch. the world's stop smart phone makers are headed back to court as apple tries to block
