saying and the new demands the the parents are making. >> reporter: good afternoon the parents wanted the superintendent to either reopen the school or resign. as you said, the official word came today from the school board that they need to evacuate this place. if you look over here, there are some tents here. people are still here. the school district wants people to know they're trespassing. they can leave peacefully or possibly be arrested. just before 9:00 a.m., a team of oakland unified school police officers armed with flyers came to tell parents, students and teachers that they needed to leave. >> we don't want them to be here. we're asking them officially to leave today. >> group has camped out since friday night. they want the district to reverse the decision to close the school and four others on the list. the district says they didn't want to shut down any schools but due to budget cuts it was necessary to reduce the number of campuses. one teacher who has been with the district for 25 years says she's been forced out. that's why she's taking part in

parents in east san jose are declaring a middle school crisis. they say schools in the franklin mckinley and alup rock districts are under performing and not safe for students. now they have joined the group people acting in community together or pact to ask officials for more options. they want the districts to open new alternative and charter schools. pact plans to meet with district officials tonight. more than 100 uc berkeley professors and instructors are rejecting both options to try to prevent drastic budget cuts to the university's library system. the head of the library surveyed faculty to see if they preferred closing 16 of the 24 campus libraries or closing just ten but with fewer librarians. 110 faculty members signed a petition asking the school for one more year to find other ways to keep cal's libraries open and strong. berkeley has already reduced its library spending by 12% and has lost 70 of its 400 library

professionals. the mount diablo school district is expected to approve union contracts and appoint administrators today. the deals would provide one- time 3% payment to reimburse employees for furlough days taken last year. board members are expected to appoint up to three elementary school principals, a vice principal and a school support administrator. no cabs at the oakland international airport today and tomorrow. coming up, we'll explain what has drivers so upset they called a strike. the immigration policy change announced by the president has raised a lot of questions in the bay area. it's also brought a warning for people to be careful about scams. we were just at a late morning press conference on the change. >> reporter: good afternoon. president barack obama issued that executive order on a friday. so far this is all immigration attorneys have to work with in

terms of getting more information about it. just a three-page memo from the department of homeland security. some nonprofit groups and immigration attorneys are taking a wait a and see approach when it comes to advising undocumented students that they work with when or if they should take advantage of this new policy. under the executive order, undocumented students under the age of 30 who were brought here by their parents as children can ask to stay in the u.s. they can fight deportation and even get a work permit. that permit would lost two years. one undocumented student we spoke with today said she and other students like her are feeling very uncertain about this. they don't know what will happen after that two-year work permit expires or what will happen to the executive order if president barack obama isn't re-elected. >> once our information in the data base, they'll have easy access to know who we are, where we live.

>> there is pretty force will language in the memorandum. there are not guidelines for how to apply and i think for practitioners who want to give proper advice to individuals about their cases, i don't think any of them will be encouraging anyone to do anything right now until we get further guidance. >> reporter: attorneys with the nonprofit san francisco legal education network held a press conference today to get the word out that so far there is no formal application issued by the department of homeland security to apply for that work permit and for this process. there won't be an application for at least another 60 days. they warned immigrants to watch out for fraud, people pretending to to be attorneys who can guarantee citizenship for a large fee. this immigration center at 938 valencia street in the mission willing host two free clinics on this nisht coming months in, july on saturday, july 14 and one on the 21st. we'll have all the information on ktvu.com.

back to you. >> thank you. once again, the immigration policy will apply to people who came to the u.s. under the age of 16. they must be 30 years old or younger now and have lived in the u.s. continuously for at least five years. they must be in school or a high school graduate or served in the military. they also cannot have a criminal history or be a threat to national security. we are just learning that a man who was shot on i-580 in oakland is now on life support. the shooting happened just before 11:00 p.m. last night on i-580 near fruitvale avenue. police who were in the area heard gunshots and found a car riddled with bullets in the eastbound lanes. witnesses say a passenger jumped out and says they got my brother. police say the driver was shot in the neck. >> another vehicle came alongside and fired several rounds at the victim vehicle. one of those rounds did strike

the driver. there was a passenger in the vehicle who was not injured but flagged down the police. >> the victim had been in critical condition but now police say he has been placed on life support. investigators are looking at video from nearby surveillance cameras to try to track down the suspects. a santa rosa man accused of kidnapping his three daughters is due in court today. an amber alert was issued thursday. police say 25-year-old jose rojo had gotten into a fight with his estranged wife who had filed for divorce. he allegedly smashed his car into the office where she works and then drove off with their daughters. the girls were found safe at a relative's house. he will be arraigned today on felony charges. an effort is underway in greece to form a government quickly following parmtdry elections which have temporarily calmed fears of an imminent financial disaster for

europe. greek voters narrowly supported the conservative new democracy party and its leader in elections yesterday. the party ran on a platform of supporting the bailout deal that greece agreed toarler this year including painful austerity measures. a vote against the party could have forced greece to leave the euro currency. president barack obama and other world leaders are in los cabos, mexico, where they're expected to press european leaders to resolve their debt crisis. the president is attending a two day g-20 summit with leaders from 20 industrialized and developing nations. he is calling on european leaders to recap tailize weak banks and to focus on economic growth, not just fiscal austerity. the white house says it does not expect much progress before the end of the month. presumptive republican nominee mitt romney took his six-state campaign bus tour to wisconsin today. he is predicting a victory in that state in november

this is a bad seen for travelers hoping to catch a cab at oakland international airport. taxi drives gathered this morning to staig a two-day strike at the airport. they say the airport management treats them unfairly and gives preferences to shuttles making it hard to make a living. they say they've tried to work things out but are frustrated. >> we've been dealing with them with the airport for so long, it never come to any conclusion to solve our problem. >> the drivers plan to drive through the airport and then over to the port of oakland offices. the oakland airport taxi strike is set for today and tomorrow. the federal government says it's expanding its investigation into the fire danger from a power window switch on some late model toyotas. the national highway traffic safety administration says it's adding 600,000 vehicles to its probe. it covers model years 2007, 2008 and 2009 and includes

presented its first witnesses in the child molestation trial of former penn state assistant football coach jerry sandusky. one man said he and other coaches were present when jerry sandusky brought young boys into the team showers. he says he never saw anything inappropriate and that it was common for coaches to shower with the team. however, earlier today one of the final prosecution witnesses said jerry sandusky forced her son to have sex with him. jerry sandusky is accused of sexually abusing ten boys over 15 years. an autopsy is being performed today to help find the cause of death for rodney king. for 47-year-old king, whose videotaped beating led to riots in los angeles 20 years ago, he died yesterday. his fiancee found him at the bottom of his swimming pool. investigators say reports that king had been in an argument prior to his death appear to be false. >> the information that i've received from the investigators and from the fiancee herself this morning, there was no evidence and there's no

indication from neighbors any other people that were inside of the residence that there was knack some type of commotion or argument. >> police say their initial investigation reveals no signs of foul ma play or obvious injuries on king's body. hundreds of jobs are now on the chopping block as a budget battle heats up in san mateo county. county leaders are meeting today to discuss ways to save money following the construction of a a new jail and other costly projects. the budget director is recommending cut morgue than 200 jobs, most of those jobs are at a residential care facility in burl game that is set to close next summer. san francisco mayor ed lee has reached labor agreements with 26 unions. about 18,000 san francisco government workers will get a combined pay raise of $41 million over the next two years. they'll get a 3% cost of living adjustment in two years. many labor groups have held rallies demanding races after
