i'm ken pritchett. >> i'm heather holmes. pride was on parade in san francisco today as thousands gathered on the sidewalks downtown for one of the largest gay pride parades in the world. christian was at the event. he joins us now live from civic center plaza the scene of another big pride celebration. >> reporter: a big pride celebration. take a look. the crowds out. the party under are underway. there is something for everybody. there is cheerleading, music, the theme this year is global equality. pride parade 2012 got rolling the dykes on bikes, more than a hundred groups marched. colorful parade celebrating the rainbow flag. >> pleasure to be here to share the joy. >> reporter: visitors travel from near and far just to watch the parade and show their own pride. >> actually in houston this weekend is our pride. i heard this is the biggest

demonstrated in protest against what it called making the pride parade commercial. protesters gatheredda lone the parade route and at one point were holding anti corporate signs. they say the protest was not meant to attack the parade itself. they say they are concerned its being coopted. >> it's more than corporations, sponsored parades, it's about coming together in the spirit of unity, forming a community and making change that impacts our community in a very positive way. >> reporter: they say they want to bring the parade back to its starts of lib rating oppressed people from all walks of life. for more log onto the website. we posted a slide show with some photographs taken at today's parade. another major bay area event as the sonoma racetrack hosted it's biggest event the year. the nascar sprint series.

we were there about both the slow moving traffic and the lightning fast cars on the track. >> reporter: the race ended a couple hours ago and it didn't disappoint. fans witnessed a unexpected win by a driver but getting here was a challenge for some. a huge back up on highway 37 this morning had cars inching along in see you license. fans went from slow to -- lightning quick speeds. it brings out about 100,000 people over the weekend. the nascar sprint cup series comes to sonoma once a year, they come to northern california once a year and all the fans come back to see them. it's the big of the names in the business. >> reporter: it's 110 laps. it's nonstop heart pounding action that draws in the fans. >> excited with the raw horse power of the engines, the sound, the talent, the risk,

that santa clara county will keep $30 million at the 49ers loaned to the project after redevelopment funds were canceled. they say they would rather spend it on schools rather than perks like television. along with the team the city leaders are angry that the funds are being diverted a lawsuit is expected. a man is facing multiple charges after police arrested him on suspicious of three hit and run accidents all while driving under the influence. the 31-year-old justin mendoza was arrested after hitting three cars, flipping his own car. officers saw someone running the rolled vehicle and with the help of dogs found him hiding in a nearby creek bed. >> diners at a restaurant had their meals interrupted when a car came crashing in to the restaurant. the car went right through the front window as you can see. the strings restaurant in brentwood was opened. a woman was screaming and

crying glass broke all over the floor, otherwise it seems nobody was hurt. the restaurant is closed tonight. the family of two people killed by a teen driver as they rode their bike have started a online petition asking for the teen driver to be prosecutorred. the 41-year-old and his 9-year- old daughter died after they were hit by a car driven by a 17-year-old. the county da is handling the case and has yet to file charges. the petition from the family asks for justice and that the young driver be held responsible. >> we have plenty of sun across much of the bay area but it was a cool, especially this morning, let's get a check in with mark with things warmed up a little bit. >> it was a very nice weekend with temperatures maxing out in the 60s to the 70s and lots of sun out there, some patchy cloud cover this morning but giving way to lots of clear skies, take a look at maps right now. you can see on the live storm tracker 2, most of the high

clouds way up to the north as you can pick out. fog free conditions, but you may have noticed a bit of a chop in the waters if you are by the coast and around the bay. winds picking up out of the west, 16 miles an hour gusting to around 21. today little warmer than yesterday. a look at some of the current numbers, you can see they range from the lower 60s san francisco, san jose, right now reporting mostly sunny skies and a temperature of 70 degrees. this low pressure stalling out over the past few days and capping our temperatures. the source of the initial cooldown. a few days ago it'll been the move into tuesday and a temperature change. get ready again. first thing tomorrow morning chilly numbers out toward santa rosa, san francisco at 50 degrees. san jose 52, partly cloudy skies, cool conditions out there but the changes as i said by tuesday and wednesday coming

up when the neighborhoods will be back and warming back up into the 80s. the forecast in a few. >> a one man was seriously injured following an overnight police chase. it happened after 3:00 this morning. sheriff's deputies say they were chasing two men in what they believed was a stolen car when the suspect crashed into a freeway retaining wall. officers arrested one of them at the scene. investigate ears say the second manipled off the overpass trying to get away. he fell 30 feet and is in critical condition. police in oakland are looking for a gunman who hope opened fire in east oakland wounding three. that shooting happened around 10:25 on the street at 80th avenue and alder street. police say two of the shooting victims in their 20s. the third a man in his 60s. all three are expected to survive. police have released no suspect information or information about a possible motive.

build a memorial to the victims of last year's crash. a modified world war ii mustang crashed in to the crowd last september killing 11 people and hurting dozens more. there is no specific design yet for the memorial. the association is talking to the families to consider what would be an appropriate way to honor the victims. >> the case of a missing san francisco man is prompting new concerns about social networking. experts are warning users to be careful. >> reporter: san francisco police are searching for a 22- year-old. family say the san francisco man has been missing since tuesday when he left to meet a stranger he contacted on a social media phone app. >> the app space is like the wild wild west right now. there are no rules. in a world where there are no rules and no sheriff and it's the wild wild west problems happen. >> reporter: police haven't said what phone app he was using but scouts suspended its

rules of safety and respect and i think ultimately we need to put restrictions on app makers and some of the social networking sites in terms of privacy much. >> reporter: if you have information about the man's where abouts contact police. in san francisco, ktvu chan ill 2news. >> a man will soon face trial on charges he extorted thousands from high profile people. the 37-year-old is charged on two felony counts. he allegedly extorted from a real estate agent and a financial advicer saying they could be killed if they didn't pay him. police are urging other victim its to come forward. he is due in court next week when he is expected to receive a trial date. >> the chairman of the house oversight committee said that members will be sending a letter to the white house explaning yacht committee thinks invoking executive privilege in the fast and furious scandal is wrong. they are investigating the botched arms deal and wants to

see paperwork. a representative expects the full house will vote to hold the attorney general in contempt >> if the president and attorney general would produce the documents they know they could produce to us that aren't by my means going to be covered by executive privilege this could be delayed or even eliminated. >> you know over a year ago the chairman accused holder of authorizing these it tactics, and nothing could be further froth truth truth. >> congress is set to vote next week. a white house spokesman said the charge is political. >> the court is expected to hand down its ruling on the president's affordable care act as early as tomorrow. some expect justices to strike down at least part if not the entire law. supporters say it provides benefits to everybody from seniors to children.

more than three million young adults under the age of 26 are covered under their parent's health care plan because of the law. critics of the legislation oppose it whereby everybody must buy health insurance or face a fine starting in 2014. a new poll out today shows most americans oppose the president's health care reform. though they support most of its provisions . the survey indicates 55% of people are against the act while 44% favor it. it's a different picture when you break own individual provisions. 82% support banning insurance companies from denying coverage to people with preexisting conditions, 61% like the provision letting children stay on their parent's insurance until age 26. >> and the court will rule on arizona's immigration law. the 2010 law orders police to find the status of those they stop and suspect of being in the united states illegally. the law also makes it illegal

for illegal immigrants to seek work. it's thought the criminal penalties will be truck down but the questions will be ruled constitutional. >> it's a bad fire season in the rocky mountain states where three major wildfires have destroyed homes and forced evacuations, 200 square miles have burned in colorado and utah. >> reporter: this hasn't been a great fire season for the state of colorado. if you live there you may feel like are you under assault by the flames. let's look at the waldo canyon fire. it broke out at noon on saturday near a popular hiking area. it continues to spread today to about three square miles, there is an evacuation order in the area for about 11,000 people as the flames have come with in a quarter mile of structures. the high park fire just west of fort collins continues to be a problem. last week it was 60% contained.

now it's dropped back to 45% containment. hot temperatures and gusty winds are feeding the flames and prompting the possibility of more homes lost and more evacuations. nearly a thousand as of the last couple of days. >> after two weeks of that fire getting established it's still trying to kuhna live. the resistance to control.persistence is unusual for conditions that we normally see. >> reporter: and some good news in utah where the evacuation orders have been lifted in a fire that was said to have started after a target shooting incident. the dump fire as it was called is now 40% contained. at the height of it roughly 1100 people had to be evacuated after 6,000 acres have been burned. it's the 20th time this year target shooting had sparked a fire in that state. the forecast is calling for more hot and dry temperatures toe. the national weather service suggests temperatures in colorado to be around 100

senate results of egypt's election were announced today several days after voters went to the polls. muslim brotherhood candidate has become the first islamist to lead the most populous arab nation. >> reporter: fireworks overhead, hundreds of thousands joyous as a member of the muslim brotherhood was he did claireed the president elect of egypt. the 61-year-old engineer will now run the mother of the arab world. egyptians voted in the runoff last weekend, he beat out a former general, the last president's prime minister. results were very close. not a mandate. only 800,000 separating the winner from defeat.

charges against a man police believe put a football player into a coma. we caught up with the victim while he was in san francisco for rehabilitation. this is a story you will only see here. >> reporter: this is the first time mark has been on the same field where he nearly lost his life one year ago. >> can you remember? >> no. i can remember the ball was here and we were all trying to get the ball out. >> reporter: he recalls the moments leading up to his alleged assault on june 25th during a game of football. >> he just -- hit -- everywhere i turned he was always there. >> reporter: this is video. a game that's a cross between soccer and australian rules football. the ball was at the other end of the field when he was hit by a player on the other team. witnesses say patrick power was

standing over him while he laid on the ground saying you won't get up from that. nobody actually saw the attack or at least they aren't talking. >> frustrating. >> reporter: he slipped into a coma for a month. us entire family flew up from ireland to be with him. it took months for him to learn how to walk and talk again. meantime the athletic association suspended power for 96 weeks, he was arrested last september on suspicious of battery but he was later released and no charges have been filed since the da said the case is still pending and he has two more years to decide if he will prosecute. the da released a statement to us saying we encourage anyone with information to please come forward and contact the san francisco police department. meanwhile he struggles with his speech and has been forced to give up his dream job.

just kept going. 13 people were on the bus which was on its way to ventura. nobody was hurt. >> a woman has been arrested for allegedly setting a vallejo homeless camp on fire. the camp was behind businesses. police sate homeless woman was angry with other people in the camp and burned their shelters yesterday afternoon. nobody was hurt. officers arrested the woman on suspicious of arson and attempted murder. we could seen learn what sparked that huge area earlier this month that shut down bart service. a team of federal arson vehiclors started their investigation last week at the scene of the fire. they are expected to announce tomorrow whether the fire was arson or an accident. the flames forced bart to stop train service across the bay for 12 hours creating a scene of chaos. >> report that the maker of blackberry is considering splitting its business in two.

separating its hand set making business prosecute its messaging network operation. the report first appeared in the sunday times which cited unnamed sources. now according to the times the company is considering splitting off the hand set division or selling it. the article named potential buyers for the division that include amazon and facebook. jp morgan chase will drop overdraft fees, they will end their 34-dollar overdraft charges for debit card purchases of five dollars or less. the decision is part of a class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claim that they were charging excessive fees. there could be another community battle if wal-mart brings back plans to expand its store. the nation's largest retailer is considering the project which would include a 32,000 square foot grocery store. it was scrapped after residents field suit sight traffic and

than anywhere else. since 1990 they have risen about 2-inches, in philadelphia more than 3.5 inches. sciencists say 90 years now they could be more than four feet higher on the east coast. >> national hurricane center officials have issued a tropical storm warning the mississippi, alabama border eastward to the river in florida. the storm is spinning in the gulf of mexico and forecasters say they are not exactly sure what she will do. maximum winds are about 60 miles an hour. that's keeping folks in texas on their toes. >> it may have no effect on us or in it does it'll be slight. it's a good wake up call to remind us it's hurricane season and we need to be prepared. >> storm surge is already affecting high tides and as much as 20 inches of rain is expected to fall in some areas. for more on debbi and our bay area weather we go to mark.

>> yeah. it's amazing what the change in the forecast track. i was work last night prepping the maps and the track had the system moving in to texas. the latest track a completely different story. we will take a look at the maps, as you can see the satellite of what is debbi and look at this moving in to florida. florida panhandle. this will be a slow mover. rainfall -- the most dangerous part of the system. could be on the order of ten to 15 inches. watching the track, could be changing in the next few days. lots of sun. a very nice, first weekend of summer. we have been talking about the cool weather pattern but temperatures have started to warm up over the past -- we had 40s and 50s out there. here is a look at some of the heights from the this afternoon. 60s. warmest locations in 70 a. san jose topped out 71 and morgan

hill 74. forecast headlines we have mostly clear skies,a bit of a chop with that on shore breeze. still a chilly morning but still sun in the monday forecast and the extended. we will bring back the fog for the coast. back up in to the mid-- possibly the upper 80a. the weather system has been capping the temperatures over the past few days, this was responsible for the big cooldown on thursday. it hasn't moved much but it'll be on the move as we head into monday. as a result mild temperatures, not changing to much from today. 60s all the way to the 70s. here is the change over. tuesday and into wednesday as that area of low pressure moves out of town. high pressure returns but this sets up that inversion, that traps the fog sot marine layer could return coast side as we go to tuesday and wednesday. away from this temperatures inland back up to around 84 to 85 degrees. here is the forecast model

showing you not much in the way of cloud cover. we could have a few patches of clouds first thing tomorrow morning but still more sun in the afternoon forecast and the range, links up with that green contour. the 60's. warmest location on track to reach the 70's. about the same as today. could be a little warmer. santa rosa 73 degrees. fairfield in the mid-70s. oakland around the rim of the bay in the upper 60's and head effort hills, you will find 70's toward livermore and brentwood. santa clara 72 and san francisco patchy cloud cover tomorrow morning. the forecast high 66. >> here is a look ahead. the five day forecast and temperatures do warm up a little bit away from the coast. coset 80s returning inland but the beaches cool off as the fog comes back with the weekend always in view. little bit of a cooldown for saturday and a warm up for sunday using that word a little bit. that phrase. it's a nice forecast for this time of year.
