the search is underway this morning for a hit-and-run driver who killed a teenager in a head-on collision in petaluma. how a witness describes this crash scene. the san jose trial for a man accused of beating a priest is now entering a critical phase. it was shut down for more than two years, but now this fire station, the fire trucks and the firefighters' gear is all ready to go in vallejo. we'll tell you how the department got the right sources to open up this -- resources to open this up again. it's monday, july 2nd. dave clark has the day off. the highway patrol is looking for a hit-and-run driver responsible for a fatal crash in sonoma county t happened shortly after midnight on a rural roadway in -- county. it happened shortly after midnight on a rural roadway. alex savidge has now learned the victim was a 16-year-old boy. alex this. >> reporter: well, good morning, the teen was killed here in downtown petaluma. the truck veered into the part of the teenager. the chp, looking for the driver driver, who, after the accident, just took off. this crash happened near the intersection of lakeville road an old lakeville road number one. the chp says the victim in this case was a 16-year-old boy from american canyon. his name is not being released it morning. a witness we talked to said the

driver who survived this accident actually stuck around for a short time. he walked up to talk to the driver, the teenager, who was conscious. >> went up there, there about three, five minutes. when i returned around, the guy had already left. >> reporter: the chp says the driver -- the driver likely suffered injuries. the truck, a 1969 ford pickup truck. the reason we know -- we know that the truck was left here at the scene. i understand in talking with the chp, they will be talking about who the registered owner is of the pickup truck as they right to find the driver who took off in this head-on collision that tilled -- that killed a teenager.

back to you. >> thank you. police are investigating investigating after a person was shot to death near a car in the oakland hills. police found the victim last night. police say the victim had been shot. officers have not released any other information. firefighters are in san jose is -- in san jose are searching for a suspect who started a high school fire at 6:45 last night. a side door was hit son -- was set on fire. and police in hayward are trying to figure out what caused a fire that severely damaged a home. firefighters confirmed last night, the home on bayview avenue near kelly street was a crime scene but did not say why. the fire was reported by neighbors who smelled smoke around 5:30. no one was inside the house and no one was hurt.

fire station 25 in vallejo is getting a second chance. allie rasmus is live there this morning where a reopening ceremony is foot for a few hours a way. >> reporter: this has all of the signs of a fully-functional firehouse. they have got the trucks set up here. now, vallejo fire department gets about 10,000 calls a year. up until about a week ago, they only had five of their eight fire stations open. now, fire station open 25 -- fire station 25 is now backed open. it's all thanks to a federal government. today they are celebrated, they -- celebrating. they will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony. this is something that neighbors are very happy about.
