a bench, a few feet from a walking pass. the trees, water and wildlife makes stow lake a popular destination but friday morning a woman spotted a child harassing a goose and scolded him and then a man, possibly the dad stepped in. >> at that point an adult male pushed her, causing her to fall and she hit her head. investigators say the man helped her up and they went their separate ways but later the woman felt ill and went to the hospital. doctors said she asufferred head -- she suffered head trauma and it was life threatening. >> outrages. depends what the kid was doing. >> i would probably do the same

attacked a man. the man has not been identified. he drove himself to a hospital where he was treated for non- life threatening injuries. authorities have identified a teen who was killed this morning in a hit and run. the crash happened after midnight. authorities say 17-year-old jahzeel forsen was driving a truck when another driver swerved into his lane and they collided. witnesses say the suspect, michael harmon, checked on the victim before taking off. >> he came down and was looking in there and -- we were there for about 3-5 minutes and then when i turned around he left. >> michael harmon turned himself in late this morning. he will likely face charges.

evacuations in san jose were called off about 3:00 p.m. this afternoon after a suspicious substance they found out was only soap. was t was blocking a storm -- it was blocking a storm drain and businesses were evacuated. a study uncurved hundreds of problem spots for pg&e. ktvu's consumer editor tom vacar explains why the company isn't too alarmed. >> reporter: as water pressure testing of the gas mains moves forward comes word of a study. the study says there is 500 potential trouble spots on 239 different pipelines. >> a trouble spot is a place where they can't verify and guarantee that the integrity of the pipe, that indicates it could be subject to failure at

issues. >> reporter: i am consumer editor tom vacar, ktvu channel 2 news. more details now, the report on the pg&e pipelines comes one day after they announced a new safety plan, it includes a new training facility. pg&e says they are hiring 1400 new employees to support its focus on safety. and the company says it will merge its gas, description and dispatch centers. three members of the san francisco board of supervisors revealed new details to build a new hospital attica head toeral hill and rebuild st. luke's. >> they would be allowed to close st. luke's by 2020. >> these are troubling and

difficult process. >> reporter: at the end of a lung day, william lynch seemed calm and ready for the decision. william lynch said reverend jerold linder raped him in 1995. the prosecutor reminded jurors to focus on the may 2010 assault. she says he acted as a vigilante. reverend jerold linder did not testify invoking the fifth amendment. >> william lynch admitting what he did, getting on the stand hurt him legally but i think it is something he felt he needed to do. >> reporter: defense attorneys encourage them to find william lynch not guilty. he said he hopes jurors don't focus on just the attack on

he is set to return to court august 23. robert ruark was turned into by fellow clergyman who suspected him of abuse. >> reporter: the girlfriend of thomas kinkade won a court battle today over his estate. amy pinto-walsh came out of court today smiling. the judge denied a case by thomas thomas kinkade's wife to send it into private arbitration. thomas kinkade died earlier this year. a big announcement today, the government is opening a new patent office in silicon valley. they celebrated the opening. california submits one quarter of all patent applications and half are from silicon valley. >> having an office in silicon valley will allow the examiners to become part of the valley

ktvu channel 2 news. hunting activists gathered to protest a bill that would ban the use of hunting dogs. they demonstrated outside as a committee inside passed the legislation. supporters argue the practice of using dogs to chase animals is inhumane. opponents say it ensures the hunter doesn't kill the wrong type of animal. pushing legislation that would allow a child to have more than two legal parents. >> you are going to divide the child up among 6 people? how many people will get a piece? >> merely authorizing a judge to use his best judgment in times when it is required to protect the best interest of the child. >> he says the law will only
