children missing from their north oakland home. ktvu's alex savage joins us live. another child there is being treated for critical injuries. good morning. >> reporter: yes, the search for those missing children, the four missing children was launched after police got reports or a three-year-old boy was brought here to children's hospital and one of the siblings of those missing children. here with life-threatening injuries and police suspect child abuse. his babysitter claimed he was unresponsive in a bathtub in a home on 6 third street in oakland. but according to report he was dry when the paramedics got there, the boy's babysitter and mother and father was arrested on suspicion of child abuse. the chronicle said they were brianna jackson and isaiah

williams. police can't find the other children. they believe relatives are hiding the kids. we want to show you the missing children, 4-year-old paradice ma han size. hanson johnson and i sea and elija johnson. the children are african- american. based on the condition of the 3- year-old boy at the children's hospital with critical injuries thought to be child abuse. police are concerned about the four siblings and the police want to find them as soon as possible. that's why they need the public's health, if you know where they are, please put a call into the police. 7:02. imagine being home alone when burglars break in.

a woman hid in her house on core dova road when the burglars ransacked it for jewelry. she called but the suspects got away with jewelry. this is a sketch about one of the suspects. the park service is looking for a permanent terminal in san francisco to operate fairies to alcatraz. pier 31 and a half is used right now but it is outgrown. a decision on where the new terminal will be located is expected in 2014. it appears that facebook and it's new neighbor, the and ber ton are friends again. the town has announced there's an agreement between the two sides but no one is revealing

details of what was worked out. a san francisco man arrested after police found dozens of home made fireworks in his house. police went to the home on 22nd street after receiving a tip. inside they found 63 explosive devices and a handgun. jerry lopez was arrested. a convicted felon, charged with possession of explosives, fireworks and a firearm, police sent us a photo of some of the home made fireworks, overall they were the equivalent of 12- and-a-half sticks of dynamite. danville's parade will get under way in a few hours. some folks are already staking out the best possible seat. lorraine. >> reporter: mike, yes, the parade starts here in just about two hours. but a few people have already trickled in with coffees in hand. you can see they have marked off their spots here with lawn chairs. now, this is a look at last

reporting live in danville, ktvu channel 2 news. i have been in that parade and it gets territorial, you got to watch your spot. it should be fun and night weather. let's check and see what is happening on the roads. i imagine things are quiet. pretty quiet when i drove in. >> yes, and one of the things we don't want you to do is drive too fast because there's a lot of police presence for the 4th. unfortunately it can be a very dangerous holiday to drive around, designated driver and obey all of the laws and you should be okay. this is a look at the bay bridge plaza. you can see the traffic is moving along well and traffic northbound 101 is looking good, traffic is light at the airport. not a big flying day, a look at 101 in san jose it is looking good and southbound north of kirkner report of a bag in one of the lanes but we don't have a lot going on other than that.

mostly sunny, there is some fog, a little couple patches here around southern morin county and the coastline down to monterey. thunderstorms just blowing up right there in southern california and also near las vegas and believe it or not for the fire in colorado they have now have flash flood watches out due to thunderstorms. this moisture should stay south and you may see buildup over the hills. for us patchy fog and the winds torned northerly and it was gone. tahoe forecast looking good. 30s and 40s and 70s to low 80s for many. cooler for friday and all good to go. i thought santa rosa might get to 49 but they are checking in at 53. cool and warming up. san jose 56 and santa cruz, there's still a little component of a west, southwest wind. keeping an eye on that and see figure it falls apart.

there's a system from the north that will impact us tomorrow. i think today the fog has not much of a chance but there's some morning fog but high pressure will take care of it, nice by the coast and a little cool for some. some of the santa cruz mountain areas, 60s, 70s and 80s. fog south of the city. it will be warm and although the forecast projections took inland temps down one or two degrees. case in point, fairfield was 90 going 88. 85 in walnut creek and antioch 80s. fremont 78 and brisbane at 70 and 60s for much of the coast

brushfire in los angeles county. it started at 9:00 in a rural area near palmdale and it spread as winds up to 30 miles per hour fanned the flames. the fire burned more than 200- acres, there are several ranches in the area but they were not threatened. the cause of the fire is under investigation. the largest wildfire in colorado is 80% contained as air tankers helped in the efforts to contain the fire. at least five, c 130 planes of dropping retar dent on the planes after being grounded following a fatal crash. the fire has destroyed more than 350 homes. the man that killed trayvon martin could be released from jail. the judge will rule on whether

or not zimmerman's bond should be lowered. it was claimed that zimmerman lied about his defenses. his attorney released a medical report that showed zimmerman suffered injuries with his encounter with martin. we are learning about millions of dollars in offshore holdings by republican presidential candidate mitt romney. according to the associated press for nearly 15 years, mitt romney financial portfolio has an offshore company that was not listed on his state or federal reports. the company is among several of romney's holdings that have not been fully disclosed. including one that posted earnings of $1.9 million. the omissions are permitted by state and federal rules on ethics filings. it is one of the big questions of the day. will the fog take a holiday on

7:22, mayor lee says the city will not use taxpayer money to fly ross mcgraham ross back to san francisco from venezuela. there could be videotape provided for the city's ethics meeting. she had demanded that city pay for the ticket which could cos as much as $2000. mayor lee has suspended her husband, the san francisco sheriff and charged him with official misconduct. we are learning more about the bomb threat that briefly interrupted the hearings last week. there was security detail showed him out of the city hall

nurses on a five day contract. the lock out affects campuses in berkeley and castro valley, and mills peninsula facilities. city college in san francisco could be on the brink of shutting down. today's chronicle reports that college has just 8 months to prove that it should stay in business or risk the loss of its accreditation. the state's stunning decision comes after an education panel cited the college for failing to fix longstanding problems in leadership and fiscal planning. city college of san francisco is california's largest college with 90,000 students. the 49ers have scored a legal victory in their fight to get back $30 million in stadium funds. yesterday a judge barred the school district in santa clara county from spending the money and signaled he may rule to give it all back to the team. last month the county voted to pull $30 million out of the stadium project saying it would

rather use that money to improve schools. the 49ers strongly objected saying voters had earmarked that money for the stadium. that favorite family in martinez have a new member. several have reported seeing a new beaver kick. it is about 6 weeks old and the fifth member of the hambrick family. beavers set up their dams near vista avenue about five years ago and they will be celebrated during the annual beaver fest on august 4th. its is 7:43, a warning for boaters. the coast guard has safety zones in san francisco bay for today. one zone will be located about one thousand feet off of pier 39. the other will be located near the san francisco municipal pier. the safety zones be in effect from 9:30 to 10:15 for the fireworks show. boaters that enter these zones could be fined $40,000.

from the water to the roads, law enforcement will be out in full force today to crack down on illegal independence day celebrations. >> ultimately what we want to dies make sure that nobody gets hurt or anything catch os fire. okay land police will have extra controls to target illegal fireworks and people that fire guns in the air. there is 250 couch calls every 4th of july. thousands turned out in richmond for an early 4th of july celebration. fireworks lit up the skies over the city's marina district earlier in the evening. there were performances by the oakland east bay symphony and the hilltop choir of richmond. >> this is our 3rd or 4th year coming to this event and we love it and we bike in richmond and we come here to hang out.

it is a fun city. the celebration was hosted by the city of richmond and private businesses. residents hope to be more events like this that promote richmond in a positive light. tonight's show in san francisco will draw thousands of people. pyrotechnique specialists gave us a sneak peek of their setup, more than 600 individual fireworks will be blasted from a barge in the bay. everyone is crossing their fingers that the fog does not spoil their view. it is a big show and they are beautiful and great and they have multiple effects and if you can't see it, it is just wasted. hundreds of people also hit the water to watch the fireworks show on boats that are red and white. 875 seats on its four boats. those are already sold out. many of the bay area

out of san jose by the way takes the stage and tries to defend his title and beat his record of eating 68 records and, of course, the women started with this last year. sonya thomas is trying to beat her record of 41 hot dogs down in ten minutes. it begs the question, how do they do it and shove the hot dogs down in ten minutes. some of the tricks came from one of the past winners. he did the following, i will have christina hold my mike and show you, they don't put ketchup or mustard or any relish, they take the hot dog and split it and kind of down it double and eat it this way but they also have to eat the bun so they take the bun and split it in half and then they take the cup of water and dip it in the water to mush it up so it slides down easier than if it wasn't wet. they do it one after the after after the other over a ten minute period. we will see if joey chestnut

female. the homicide rate in san francisco is going up. hundreds of people attended the funeral yesterday for one of the latest victims, 26-year-old kasai. he went to college in san francisco and with hopes of going back to ethiopia to encourage children play soccer. >> it is sad to see this. >> the gunman remains at large. the statistics show a disturbing trend, in the first six months of this year, there have been 39 homicides compared to 50 for all of last year. there were 50 homicides in 2010

and 45 in 2009. 7:47, final preparation under way for the annual parade and fire works show in valeto. it begins at broadway and tennessee streets. the firework show is set to begin at 9:00 on the valeto water front. they are still looking for donations to pay fort fireworks. since 2009 there will be a fire work show in red wood city thanks to some private donors, starting at 9:15 the fireworks will be launched. there will be a parade and festival starting at 9:00 this morning. most people in joy this holiday but it can be confusing and scary for animals that don't understand the noise and lights from fireworks. so animal activists are reminding owners not to take the pets to the fireworks show. leave the animals home and inside where they will feel

7:51. we have breaking news. alex savage has arrived on the scene of a serious crash in oakland. something al was warning us about even with light traffic. alex, what can you tell us. >> reporter: in speaking with the oakland chief from the fire department this is because of a police pursuit that happened a short time ago. it is an active scene. we are at 40th avenue and that's the car that police were going after that we do understand was stolen. police were trying to stop the car with two men inside when it crashed and sheered off a fire hydrant. i'm not sure if we can go to the right here. if you will look down here, down on the street just a ways, you can probably see that fire hydrant in its entirety sitting on the ground. it was sheered off after the

crash. two men inside of that car were injured. one of them we understand the injuries were serious. firefighters came here and treated the men. obviously they are facing charges in this case. police do believe that this car was stolen with those two men inside when it crashed here on 40th street in oakland. we are working to get more information on the two men inside of the car but both of them will be taken into custody and first being treated for their injuries after a pursuit and a crash here in oakland this morning. that's what we know this morning and we will work for more information throughout the morning. like in oakland, channel 2 news. thank you, alex. 7:53. the coast guard has a warning for boths looking for people that have had too much to drink. coast guard officers say that boating under the influence can result in fines and jail time just like driving under the influence. the coast guard will be looking for boats that don't have life

good morning and welcome back. it is the 4th of july and dave clark has the day off. we begin our 8:00 hour with breaking news. we reported just moments ago. >> there's a serious crash in oakland let's go to sal. >> reporter: this involved a stolen vehicle that police were chasing the vehicle here and the chase ended up at 40th and san leeanddro on one of the streets that is -- it two blocks away from the n i mitz freeways. there's the hydrant that was sheered off had the car came around the corner and sheered it off and lost control of the vehicle. hit the building and hit a stop sign there or some other type

of sign. it was a violent crash. what we know is that earlier this morning, oakland police were chasing the vehicle. they may have been chasing it because the car was listed as stolen. there was two people inside. one of them is critically injured and has been taken away to the hospital. our reporter alex savage is on the scene and just spoke to some officials there and we will have more information. the car is badly damaged. again it was listed as stolen. we don't know if there is another reason why the police were chasing this vehicle but right now a good area to avoid is sande anddro street near 40th. they are turning traffic around. we will let you know more later on in the newscast. at 8:00 let's go back to the desk. what is happening now, this morning police are looking for four children who are missing from their north oakland home and concern for their safety is growing. that's following the near drowning of a 3-year-old boy

living at that same home. police arrested the mother, stepfather and babysitter on child endangerment and child abuse charges. an investigator say family members will not reveal the whereabouts of the other children. imagine being home alone when burglars break in, that's what happened to a woman. the woman hid in her house on cordova road yesterday morning as two men ransacked it looking for jewelry. the woman was able to call 911. deputies say they arrived at the house within five minutes but the suspects already got away with an unknown amount of the jewelry. this is a sketch of one of the suspects, if you have any information about the crime, you are asked to call the santa clara county sheriff's office. a skateboarding accident that injured a 14-year-old under scores the need for children to wear helmets. he remains in the hospital with serious head trauma after he lost control and crashed on blossom hill road this month.

eastbound school. we are following breaking news out of oakland, a police pursuit has led to a serious crash. alex savage has the latest. alex. >> reporter: well, we understand that this was the high speed pursuit after stolen car that came to a crashing end here at this intersection in oakland at 40th and san leeanddro and that's where the car lost control and actually hit this building before

hitting a fire hydrant. you can see the saturn sedan here at the scene. we will show you video as firefighters moved into try to shut off the fire hydrant that had been sheered off. the driver of the car why are told by police suffered serious injuries in the passenger had minor injuries. an oakland police lieutenant says this started a couple of hours ago when officers spotted that stolen car and began to follow it. the driver then sped off and we are told this pursuit lasted for two miles. >> he heard speeds reported of at least 65 miles per hour. as it hit the high street intersection, there's somewhat of a rise in the roadway and it caused that vehicle to begin to lose control. the tail end started to spin out and he overcorrected with it and it struck the fire hydrant. three patrol cars were involved in this pursuit. they had reported this stolen

car. it was spotted by officers and they began to follow. in the end even after the accident involving the car, no oakland officers injured. a lieutenant tells me after the accident inside of the car as you can see is still on the scene, they did find electronics inside. investigators are trying to figure out if possibly any of those electronics could be stolen. but the investigation certainly continuing out here in oakland this morning. live in oakland, alex savage, ktvu, channel 2 news. a series of small earthquakes shook the area near pacificca. a 2.8 magnitude hit about 10:15 p.m. earlier there were three other quakes of similar magnitude just south of pacifica near monetaria. the fault runs through that part of the peninsula. new this morning scientists including a television celebrities are marking what could be the discovery of the

it could bring a more vivid perspective of the northern and southern lights. a man was arrested after firework were found in his house. police went to the home on 22nd street yesterday after receiving a tip inside they found 63 explosive devices and a handgun. they arrested 44-year-old jerry lopez, a convicted felon charged with possession of explosives, fireworks and a firearm. police sent us a photo of some of the home made fireworks. overall the firework were the equivalent of 12-and-a-half sticks of dynamite. 12 people are injured including two children after a firework explosion in new hampshire. a batch flew up on the deck of a home. the explosion filled the home with smoke, there were 30 people inside at the time. the owner of the home puts on a large fireworks display every independence day holiday.

the runner-up in mexico's election is demanding a recount. he says sunday's election was "playinged by irregularities" he has to wait until sunday to formally request a recount when the official results are due to be released. preliminary results show enriquee is leading with 38% of the vote to 32% of louar door. there is accusations of vote buying. the institutional revolutiony party governed mexican for 32 years and voted out because of widespread corruption. people have been rushing to grocery stores to redeem debit cards that they were say were given to them by the preparty in exchange for their support of pena alto. some of the people complain that cards were worth less than ten dollars when they were told that cards would be worth
