street. >> good afternoon, ken. >> reporter: they cleared the scene. had been active. and it started as a domestic violence call and ended up confronting a suspect in the safeway parking lot. they say officers attempted to use nonlethal force and that effort failed. >> i heard multiple bam bam bam. and it is all week long and i thought it was firecrackers. >> reporter: least lee collins heard the shots. as of this morning, the body of marshal tobin was still here as evidence was being collected. they responded to a call of a man beating his wife. the second 911 call said he was in a safeway parking lot. he exited his car armed with a handgun. tasers were ployed -- employed. and that's when the officers

opened fire, killing him. they were on scene and declined to speak. >> the neighbors were upset about another shooting in vallejo. >> i have been here in '89. and it is so violent. >> reporter: this is the fourth officer-involved shooting this year. there were three in the month of may. at the time vallejo police said there was a cluster of incidents and no prior incidents this year. as to this incident, there was an officer wounded in this. he was hit by flying debris assault of the shooting and -- as a result of the shooting and described his injuries as moderate. it was a long police chase and came to a dramatic end in oakland. coming up in 12 minutes, we will tell you why the car was being pursued. and what caused it to spin out

where victor murillo was. >> the friend got the call. the description matches murillo. >> he was wearing gray tennis shoes and navy blue jacket and a gray hat. >> reporter: family and friends had launched their own search effort last week. he was a prison guard and avid dodgers fan. he was with a friend at the concher's game june 25th. he last saw him standing at the end of piers 30 and 32. minutes later, he was gone. >> the family said he didn't know how to swim. >> we had hoped to find him alive. but, you know, our mission was to bring him home to the family dead or alive. i am happy maybe we can bring them some closure. >> his friend tells me right now. they don't have any plans for a funeral or memorial service.

there was a crash near san leandro street. and we were there shortly after the chase ended. >> reporter: it came to a crashing end in oakland when this sedan slammed into a building and sheared off a fire hydrant. water was gushing into the street as the firefighters treated the two men in the car which they say was stolen in the morning. he suffered injuries. and the peak had minor injuries. everything started at 7:00 in the morning. they spotted the stolen car and the followed it. the driver started going until he hit a bump in the road. >> it caused the vehicle to begin to lose control. the tail end started to spin out. he overcorrected with. apparent will you and the tail end struck the fire hydrant. >> they were pursuing this car for 2 miles before the crash. no officers were hurt here and

san leandro street was closed down as they gathered evidence. >> they tell me they did find electronics inside the car finding at least one computer. they are trying to figure out in the items might be stolen. alex savidge, channel 2 news. rat droppings and rotting floors that sprouted mushrooms. those are some conditions that the aclu say exist at a day care in richmond. they filed a lawsuit against the the contra costa school district. they serve at risk youth but the aclu said conditions are deplorable. and students lack regular access to science and math teachers. he they could be on the brink of shutting down. the are has eight months to prove it will stay in business or risk the loss of accreditation. it comes after an education

panel cited the college for failing to fix long term problems in leadership and fiscal planning. this is the largest college with 90,000 students. the the coast guard has a warning for boaters who plan to spend the fourth of july holiday on the bay and other waterways. they will be looking for people who have had too much to drink. coast guard officers said boating under the influence can result in fines and jail time. like driving a car under the influence. they will be looking for boats that don't have life jacket assist for everyone on board. tonight's fireworks show in san francisco is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of people and all are hoping for clear skies. >> pyro technique specialists gave ktvu a peek at their set up. they will be going off from the barge in the bay. >> they line up and everybody is crossing their fingers that

fog does not spoil the view. hundreds will also hit the water to watch the fireworks show on boats. they have 875 feet on the four boats. those are already sold out. in antioc, the show will go on -- antioch, the show will go on. a group of people got together and put up signs to ask their neighbors to donate fewer dollars for the fourth. they reached their goal and got other services donated from street sweeping to portable toilets. >> a warning for boaters, the coast guard is implementing safety zones for today. one zone will be located about 1,000 feet off pier 39. the other will be located near

the san francisco municipal pier off the aquatic park. it will be in effect if until 9:30 and 10:15 tonight. the boaters who enter the zones could be fined $40,000. if you are setting off your own fireworks. there are fines for setting off the wrong kind of fireworks in the wrong place. >> this is where you can use and buy fireworks legally. they must be ever safe. >> sparklers remain on the ground. the battalion chief described the kind that are illegal. >> fireworks that would be illegal he in california are obvious would be one step fly up in the sky. anything that explodes or moves around on the ground. safe and sane fireworks are allowed in several communities including hollister and east

is. it pulls off and then pacifica south fills in. all the way down to santa cruz. and dealing with lots of low clouds and fog. it is thick down there. the moisture coming up from arizona should stay to the south. we don't have to worry about that. and we worry about the low clouds coming in. fog is increasing a bit. most of the marin coast and there is more of a westerly breeze today. it is sunny later for most. the areas have to deal with the fog. some areas have been socked in all morning long. maybe a few high clouds. on the fourth, it is much better than the third. rather than thursday and friday. upper 70s. and near the 80s. very shallow and more a westerly breeze. it is warm to hot. and it doesn't matter. it is in the 90s and mid-80s for othersful we will take it out to antioch and
