of the william lynch trial on our website, www.ktvu.com, click on the priest assault tab. firefighters say a bus caught fire today but no one was hurt thanks to the quick actions of the bus driver. it happened after 2:00 p.m. this afternoon. the driver saw smoke coming from under the hood of the bus. >> pulled over. opened the hood and flames just started coming out. i rushed everyone off the bus, called 911. >> officials say they were impressed by how quickly the driver got the passengers off the bus. investigators say the bus was serviced and they think that may have triggered a failure. a huge traffic back up on the lower deck of the bay bridge because of a crash that lead to shots being fired and tonight we have new details on the suspect.

ktvu's cara liu is here now with what she learned from authorities. >> reporter: we have learned new things about the man blamed for a traffic night mare here on the bay bridge. he is a 29-year-old man on patrol. as you can see the traffic is moving again normally. but because of this guy thousands could not get out of the city for hours. >> reporter: the crash snarled traffic for hours, making a mess of the morning commute. the man dehind the wheel of the crashed -- behind thetually of the crashed car is antonio robertson. a mess of the morning commute for thousands on the bay bridge. >> i have to get to work. >> i am already late for work. >> reporter: [ inaudible question ] >> of course. i got patients.

into a bicyclist. it happened at 9:30 p.m. last night. police say the driver hit the bicyclist and dragged him more than 1then feet. he -- than 100 feet. car is a older dark colored sedan. one witness said it looked like the driver did it on purpose. we will hear more coming up in a live report on ktvu channel 2 news at 6:00. the chp said it dui crack down resulted in dozens of arrests. in the bay area, they made 80 arrests for the forth of july holiday. last year it lasted four days and resulted in 251 arrests. statewide 479 arrests this year. in 2011, 1500 arrests. officers note because the holiday was on a wednesday

there they have been fewer people who drank. police determined a suspicious package did not pose a threat after it prompted street closures. it was reported at 12:30 p.m. this afternoon. officers shut down streets, service was disrupted on money. police say -- muni. police say during the investigate people received orders to shelter in place. the sheriff's put off a recommendation to put off sexual harassment against pablo sandoval. a woman accused him of assaulting her. the sheriff's department was expected to make a recommendation to the district attorney this week but a spokeswoman said new

information delayed the report. police arrested five people. the five include kathy le, 41, george dac nguyen, 72, jennifer ngo, 63, charles nguyen, 25, and margaret ngo, 27. investigators say the victim suffered from disorders and the defendants beat them and allowed them to bathe only once a month. authorities removed 45 dogs from the home on two visits. the sanitation district is collect water samples from the creek following the sewage spill. a pump malfunction caused 200 gallons of raw sewage to spill into the creek. the problem has been fixed but they are continuing to test the creek water for contamination. the district paid $1.5 million for dozens of sewage releases over three years. in sacramento a boy was

shot and killed last night in a drive-by shooting. who the instended target may have been -- intended target may have been. the boy's father grieved where her son was shot and killed. this boy killed while riding home from a night of watching francisco f -- from watching fireworks. investigators say the suv that the father was driving was riddled with a dozen gun shots. the boy was struck multiple times. >> he was innocent. shot 5 bullets into my grandson. >> reporter: investigators still are not releasing details about suspects or a description of the shooter's car. investigators believe the boy's father was likely the target and they are investigating possibly gang ties.

motion censor cameras to try and locate the mountain lion that is believed to have attacked that man. judge set bail for george zimmerman at a million dollars. he killed trevon martin. last month the judge revoked bail after his wife lied about how much money they had. he is charged with second degree murder. police say citations for illegal fireworks were double what they were last year. safe and sane fireworks are legal in union city but not the kind that blow up or fly in the air. officers responded to 69 fireworks calls on the forth of july and sited 15 people. union city had three fireworks related fires but there were no fireworks related injuries. coming up next, police

fisherman in southern california have one big fish tale to tell. a 800-pound shark they caught. it took at least six men to lift that shark out of the water. it is most likely a short fin shark. they are known for aggressive behavior. the san francisco police joined the ranks of bike riders and motorcyclist when it comes to wearing a helmet. this is the first year in the last 138 years that helmets have been part of their uniform. the change was prompted by an injury of an officer who fell off his horse a few years with ago. >> it is a safety thing.
