welcome to mornings on two it's sunday july 15th. >> i'm mike mibach. another cool summer morning out there in pockets of the bay area. let's get over to rosemary and a quick peek of that sunday forecast. >> yes. our numbers similar to yesterday. our afternoon will be a tad warmer. we are waking up with the low clouds but not as wide spread. few degrees of warming expected for your afternoon. we're talking 3-6 degrees or so and then a downward trend. we are talking with those numbers once again as we head into the workweek. identify got those numbers for you coming up. we have new information about a man suspected of shooting at benicia police. it was a routine traffic stop that turned into a shootout. lorraine blanco is there with the information. >> reporter: benicia police have a $1 million arrest

warrant this morning for the 22- year-old suspect. he's believed to be a armed and dangerous. they say they are doing everything they can to find him. here's a look at what he looks like. robert flores polystore of american canyon. he shot a female officer just before 7:00 p.m. yesterday. she was making a routine traffic stop when she found out it was a stolen car. she fired back no one was hit police say folster fled on foot. late last night several police formed a large perimeter near highlands condominiums but they couldn't find the suspect. >> benicia is a quiet community. mostly residential bedroom community. this is something we are not used to experiencing here. it doesn't happen here but maybe every so many years. >> reporter: police say during

that search another suspect matching folster's description carjacked a separate vehicle inside that apartment complex. he tried to drive out but police arrested him. as for that original suspect police say if you see him keep your distance and call police. lorraine blanco ktvu channel 2 news. oakland police are investigating two separate shootings that injured two men. first happened around 12:30 this morning near foothill avenue and havens court boulevard. the victim was also involved in a car crash before or after that shooting. and about one hour later police were called to 'douse and 98th avenue. one man was transported to the hospital in serious condition. in union city a police canine chased down a man wanted in questioning in a murder. union city police pulled over a vehicle that was registered to a person wanted for questioning in a san francisco homicide.

officers say the man got out and tried to run away. that's when the police dog found him hiding. police have not revealed which homicide is connected to this case. traffic is back to nor mall on the bay bridge. want to give you a live look at the span. quiet sunday morning out there with no problems being reported. however, it was quite a different story last night. a truck spilled piles of asphalt on the upper deck of the bridge. highway patrol shut down three westbound lanes near the s- curve for three hours. even after the lanes reopened traffic remains backed up all the way into berkeley. berkeley city leaders want to make telegraph avenue a hot spot. business has been slow recently. a poll of uc berkeley students say they would shop on telegraph avenue more often if there were fewer panhandlers and fewer empty store fronts. they will consider recommendations for improvements in september. later today a group called

the lake view sit in will continue their fight to keep schools open in oakland. the group is upset over the closure of lake view and four other oakland schools. the parents and protest fors set up a camp outside lake view elementary school on late june. on july 3rd they raided the camp and arrested two people. they plan to hold an event across the street. they will plan the next step in their fight against the oakland school district. breast-feeding advocates plan to stage a sit in in napa. napa alternative moms group said the woman was asked to leave the building by a security guard because she was breast-feeding. state law allows breast-feeding in federal buildings. animal rights activists are furious over a legal loophole in california's ban on the sale of foie gras. >> what law am i breaking? i have to be breaking a law to be arrested.

>> last night u.s. park police arrested a protestor for disorderly conduct outside the social club in san francisco. a group of demonstrators picketed the restaurant as it continues to offer foie gras in the form of $20 sliders. they say it can still sell the delicacy because they are on federal land. >> they are trying to invade enforcement but it's not going to work. >> it's a guilty pleasure. it's something you have to add least try once. >> reporter: restaurant management declined an interview. the owner says bucking the man is a decision. protestors say they are promising more demonstrations. the state or u.s. attorney general could issue an opinion on the exemption. the annual rafters gone wild party got a little too wild when fights broke out. according to the sacramento beat dozens began hitting each

other with paddles. some of those people apparently threw rocks at fire and rescue boats. no one was seriously hurt. in just a couple hours opening ceremonies begin for this years aids walk in san francisco. this is video of last years walk and at 9:45 this morning oakland congresswoman barbara lee will kick off the event. lee has been a global leader since hiv and aids and has worked to establish a strategy for the event. a lot of people wondering how the weather is beginning to be for -- is going to be for that walk. >> just as gray out there this morning. we will be slightly better. our numbers will be up a few more degrees. outside your door your numbers are expected to warm anywhere from 3-6 degrees. not a big warmup but enough to feel it in many cases. giving you a live look from our roof cam this morning over the

>> the robbers fire continues to burn 50 miles southeast of sacramento. it has forced hundreds of people to leave their homes. national guard helicopters have been called in. >> reporter: this is day five of the robbers fire. according to cal fire this fire grew last night. there was increased fire activity in the area. firefighters are preparing to get pack on the fire lines to try to fire this fire. yesterday a home was lost in the brushy creek area. the fire has grown to nearly 2,000 acres and only at 20% containment. some 2 torque firefighters are on the fire lines fighting the fire or standing guard around homes making sure no more structures are lost. evacuees say it's the worst feeling in the world not to know if they will have a home to return to. >> it's like being on pins and

needles. you don't know what to do. you don't know where to go. you just don't know what to do. >> reporter: and so far evacuees are on edge as we just heard. nine firefighters have been injured on the fire lines. they say this is very dangerous as well as steep terrain but they are preparing for another aggressive fight. they don't think containment will come until wednesday. >> thank you. obviously a difficult situation for all the people that are still waiting to see that whether their homes will be saved. we saw a lot of activity behind you there. it looks like they are doing what they can. san francisco man is recovering after getting hit by a car and then beaten up. the attack happened early friday morning on the 3300 block of 18th street in the mission district. the victim was first struck by a silver sedan. after he crawled to the sidewalk people got out of the car and started to punch him.

the 35-year-old victim suffered a broken harm and leg. no word on any arrest. a muni protest is set for tomorrow. demonstrators include a group of women who say their sons were shot and killed by police. tomorrow marks the first anniversary of the death of kenneth harding. muni called police after he did not pay his fare. the dispute escalated into a shooting and police claim harding shot himself. duomore suspects have been arrested for -- two more suspects have been arrested for an attempted burglary in burlingame. when police arrived officers say the men ran from the home. two suspects were arrested that day and the other two were caught yesterday. police say the men had stolen property from other burglaries and driving a stolen car when they were arrested. tomorrow marks four months

his computer. he sold the porn to people he found on the internet. if he gave the password scooby doo he would slip a usb card into their fries. >> there were children involved in other sex acts with children and adults. >> investigate evers believe rosa down loaded the videos but did not film them himself. the family of joe paterno is responding to new attacks on the coaches reputation. the new york times reports the coach secretly negotiated a retirement package with pep state. the very same month he testified before a grand jury in the jerry sandusky sex abuse case. the $5.5 million deal included a $3 million bonus including perks.

a mural near the school has been altered in light of the scandal. an artist initially added a halo on top of his head but the artist has just removed that halo and put a blue ribbon on his coat. a mural featuring sandusky was removed months ago. soldier at fort bragg? north carolina that shot and killed his commander and then himself was one day away from being sentenced for assault. ricky elder was charged with purging a woman in the face while -- punching a woman in the face while on leave in 2010. a judge formerly dismissed a case against elder that died last month. a bus on a hindu pilgrimage scratches. it skidded off the highway and plunged into the river. the bus was so full there were passengers riding on the roof. they were headed from india to a temple west of kathmandu. it was carrying 75 people and 38 bodies have been recovered

so far. italian man paid a special attribute to his wife when the costa concordia wrecked. his wife was traveling with their daughter on the cruise. she insisted the girl leave on one of the first lifeboats but the mother is one of two passengers who's bodies have not been found. 32 people died when the ship sank off the coast of italy. reno sparks convention has voted to put $75,000 toward the reno air national championship races so organizers can afford their insurance. insurance premiums for the event jumped to $2 million after a crash last september killed a pilot and ten people on the ground. race officials say about $1 million has been raised so far. the premium must be paid before the september 1st dead line or the event will be canceled. the journey is over for two men that hope to make a tan

dumb lawn chair balloon flight from oregon to montana. the men took off yesterday morning from a gas station in oregon. take a look at their contraption. they were in lawn chairs that had 350 helium balloons attached. they had hoped to make it all the way to montana but seven hours into their flight thunderstorms forced them to make a hard landing. >> you can set kleenex on your lap and it doesn't fall. >> they say their contraption floated away after they got out of them. >> seven hours is a good effort. >> not too bad. quite a contraption. >> it is impressive. first sign of west nile virus has popped up in contra costa county 37. >> surfers down under are is

for a suspected gunman. authorities have surrounded the suspect 22-year-old robert flores folster to a residential neighborhood in vallejo. he was in a stolen honda crv. but refused to pull over when officers tried to stop him. he fired at a female officer. she was not hit and returned fire. he later abandoned the crv and has been on the loose ever since. we have lorraine blanco heading to vallejo right now. she'll have a live report coming up as soon as she gets to the city of vallejo. this morning investigators are looking into the cause of a small plane crash in novato. it happened just before 4:00 yesterday afternoon. authorities say a student pilot reported having engine trouble just before he skidded off the runway and into a nearby marsh. >> there were several pilots in the area that heard or witnessed the incident.

rushed over. lifted the rear of the aircraft up off the ground and that allowed the pilot to exit the aircraft. >> the student pilot only has minor injuries. a three-year-old girl is recovering after falling out of a second story apartment window in fremont. the accident happened yesterday morning at the water stone at fremont apartments on fremont boulevard. police say the girl was on a bed and leaned against the window screen that gave way causing her to fall to the concrete below. she was transported to the hospital and kept for observation. police say the girl had a few cuts and bruises but was not seriously hurt. the highway patrol says road rage may have caused a firey crash that killed a santa rosa man. the crash happened on hall road just west of irwin lane yesterday afternoon. investigators say a woman was chasing a motorcycle at high speed when she lost control and hit a lexus and then another car. that second car overturned and

caught fire killing a 55-year- old man. investigators say alcohol or drugs may have played a role in the crash. a 26-year-old petaluma woman is in jail after attempted carjacking. ashley barnes was approaching people yesterday in the parking lot of ray lee's super market. she walked up to two different people said she had a gun and demanded their cars. police abarnes was on probation out of sonoma county for possession of a loaded firearm. bail has been set at $15,000. san mateo county will soon have a new jail and not everyone is quite happy about it. small group of protestors demonstrated in redwood city yesterday at the site of the counties newly approved jail. the $155 million to build the jail and $40 million to run it annually should be used on education and community

resources. >> i think if they do this we are committing the resources we need to the children to the confinement of their parents. >> we want to put in greater programs we can do now because of the overcrowding and lack of space and see if we can do the wrap around service to help people rehabilitate and get out on their own. >> the jail has been in the works in seven years and scheduled to open in 2015. after nearly 24 years on the run a california fugitive is in in police custody. vincent walters was captured in mexico. he was found selling timeshares from a small booth at cancun international airport. walters is the u.s. marshals 15th most wanted fugitive. he was wanted for the 1988 kidnapping and murder of a woman in san diego. he's also facing drug and weapons charges. the egyptian government says it's trying to negotiate the release of three kidnapped victims. two are american citizens. they were riding on a bus from

egypt to israel when some tribesmen boarded the vehicle and took them hostage. one is boston pastor michael lewis. his congregation yesterday held a service praying for his safety. >> we ask that everybody pray for not only the safe return of our reverend michael lewis but safe return of everybody that is also with him. >> the kidnappers say they want a relative released from egyptian prison who is currently being held on drug charges. this morning secretary state hillary clinton is meeting with the head of egypt's army that will not allow the new civilian government to dominate the country. clinton is trying to defuse the situation. clinton met with the newly elected president yesterday. she told him the obama administration will do all it can to support egypt's transitions to democracy. >> the united states supports the full transition to civilian

presidents. a plan is controversial because campus foundations would still be allowed to boost president salaries up to 10%. trustees will also discuss several contingencies. starting january 1st, california drivers will be allowed to text behind the wheal but with restrictions. under a new law signed by governor jerry brown drivers will be able to send messages but only if they are using a hands free division device. this will be the first time californians will be able to text while driving since it was outlawed more than three years ago. and there is another change in traffic law that may be welcomed by many drivers. it will be legal now to park at broken parking meters with a posted time limit. that means you can't get automatically ticketed if you are at a broken meter. >> it has been pretty cool close to the coast but inland i

was going to say it has been a reprieve. usually it's about 100 degrees. not quite there yet rosemary. it's probably a welcome to those living out there. >> yeah who wouldn't take 80 degrees or so in the summertime. we will be a little warmer today. a subtle warmup expected across the area. we have a ridge of high pressure trying to nudge in a little bit. it will be quickly replaced as we head into a cooling trend. giving you a live look outside our doors and into oakland where we are waking up with guy skies. marine layer a little more compressed due to that ridge of high pressure. that means some of us dealing with a little bit of fog in areas like santa rosa some fog reported there along the coast visibility may even be down a little bit. for today a little bit warmer. we will clear once again back to the coastline. partly cloudy skies expected for the coast. we'll see more sunshine in the city for the afternoon. yesterdays system has ejected out of the area. again it will be replaced by a second system dropping out of

this is a qualifying race for the iron man world championships that will be held at lake las vegas in nevada. professional skater tony hawk is coming to a san jose skate park. they will be at lake cunningham park from 11:00 to 3:30 today. fans will be able to see hawk put on a show beginning at 2:00 p.m.. today's event is to celebrate a $10,000 grant being given to the park from coca-cola. before this the park was slated to close because of the budget cuts. it was blast off this morning for a russian spacecraft. the american connection though to this new adventure in space. >> and we have a live look for you right now from the san mateo bridge. traffic looking good although it is a little gray out there. mornings on 2 will be back right after the break.

good morning to you. a live look there from san rafael. partly to mostly cloudy skies. clearing away to blue skies for the afternoon. summer storm caught some drivers in washington state by surprise. it caused more than a foot of water to pool on i-90 near spokane yesterday. you can see drivers braved the waste deep waters going very slowly and causing traffic to back up for several hours. at this hour an american woman is heading to the international space station. >> liftoff. >> astronaut williams blasted off this morning in a sow use

rocket. she was joined by a japanese and russian oz. moe not. it's important to nasa and the u.s. because it features a joint operation with their old cold war foe russia. the coast guard says the ship slipped its anchor yesterday and began moving toward alaska aleutian islands. they were able to move it farther offshore. the coast guard said soft seabed and strong winds caused that ship to get free. a fire at a key supplier offtakes stone pipeline has caused $1.5 million in damage. it broke out at the welspun tubular plant. plant officials say they don't know how long it will take to replace broken equipment and

clean off the smoke damage to thousands of pipes. >> we have an estimate of $1.5 mall so far. but every day they are out of business i'm sure that will be a larger amount. >> it's contracted to provide hundreds of miles of pipeline for a portion of the controversial project. a proposed expansion of the keystone pipeline would carry heavy crude from alberto, canada to the gulf coast. this morning some republican lawmakers are calling on mitt romney to disclose more information about his finances. the calls from alabama governor robert bentley came after romney said he would only release his income tax returns for 2010 and 2011. romney should release all of his returns to prove he has nothing to hide and to prevent the issue from becoming a distraction during the campaign. >> we are here because this is the most important election in our lifetime and we need the

city of vallejo. lorraine blanco has just arrived on scene with pictures you won't see anywhere else. lorraine. >> reporter: that is right. i just got off the phone with benicia police. they do confirm they have robert folster in custody right now. police have surveillance in this area of the 800 block of humboldt here in vallejo with a tip he may frequent this area. he was spotted by an officer close to 7:00 a.m.. we don't have a lot of details about his arrest yet. let's take a look at that video we just shot. we were the only station here as they arrested the shooting suspect on the 800 block of humboldt. he is now being questioned at the benicia police department. the suspect folster is from american canyon. police say he shot at a female officer just before 7:00 p.m. yesterday. she was making a routine traffic stop when she was ran the plates and realized the suspect was in a stolen vehicle. when she tried to get him out of the car he drove off and

has reopened following a man hunt for a suspect in the shots fired call. the chp closed part of interstate 80 yesterday afternoon after receiving a call about a man firing a machine gun in a west sacramento warehouse. officers reopened the roadway after they were unable to locate the man. >> this morning investigators are look into the cause of a small plane crash in novato. it happened just before 4:00 yesterday afternoon. a student pilot reported having engine trouble just before he skidded off the runway and into a nearby marsh. >> there were several other pilots in the area that either heard or witnessed the incident. rushed over. lifted the rear of the aircraft up off the ground and that allowed the pilot to escape the aircraft. a three-year-old girl is recovering after falling out of a second story apartment window in fremont. the accident happened yesterday morning at the water stone at

people. said she had a gun and demanded their vehicles. both people refused and ran away to call police. police say barnes was on probation out of sonoma county for possession of a loaded firearm. bail has been set at $15,000. san mateo county will soon have a new jail. but not everyone is happy about it. a small group of protestors demonstrated in redwood city yesterday at the site of the county's newly approved jail. the $155 million to build the jail and $40 million to run it annually should be instead used on education and community resources. i think if they do on this we are committing the resources we need to educate our children to the confinement of their parents. >> we want to put in programs greater programs we can do now because of the major crowding and see if we can do the wrap around services to help people

>> reporter: we just moved here to the police department because this is where detectives right now are questioning the 22-year-old suspect. now, we have been on this all morning working the story and we were the only station there as police arrested the suspect in vallejo. take a look at that video. this is exclusive video of officers arresting 22-year-old robert flores fullster. he blew a kiss to the camera as we approached him. according to police investigators have surveillance in this area near the 800 block of humboldt and vallejo because of a tip. he was spotted by an officer close to 7:00 a.m. this morning. about 12 hours before, police say fullster shot at a female officer when she was making a routine traffic stop in vaneesha. she ran the plates and realized the suspect was in a stolen vehicle. when she tried to get him out of that car, he drove off, stopped at a nearby condo complex and shot at her vehicle. she fired back, no one was hit but fullster fled on food. police obtained a $1 million arrest warrant this morning for

robert fullster. after they question him here at the police department he will be transported to the solano county jail. we did just talk with the police department. we should be able to interview him for our next time we see you at about 9:45. lorraine blanco, ktvu channel 2 news. we are tracking overnight news in east palo alto where police are investigating the shooting that injured a 19-year- old man there. it happened just before 3:00 a.m. on azalea drive. the shooting victim was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg. anyone with information about this shooting is asked to contact the east palo alto police department. oakland police investigating two separate shootings that injured two men. the first happened around 12:30 this morning near the intersection of foothill avenue and havens court boulevard. police say the victim was also involved in a car crash just before or after the shooting. about an hour later, police were called to 98th avenue, one

man was shot there and transported to the hospital in serious condition. no arrests have been made in either shooting. and union city police k-9 chased down a man wanted for questioning in a homicide. it happened last night near a massage parlor on smith street. union city police pulled over a vehicle that was registered to a person wanted for questioning in a san francisco homicide. officers say he got out and tried to run away and that's when the police dog found him hiding out. police have not revealed which homicide he is connected to in this case. animal rights activists are furious over a legal loophole in california's ban on the sale of foie gras. >> what law am i breaking? i have to be breaking a law to be arrested. >> last night u.s. park police arrested a protest for disorderly conduct outside the presidio social club in san francisco. a group of demonstrators picketed the restaurant as it continues to offer fuquay in the form -- foie gras in the

the group is upset over the closures of schools. they began camping out at lakeview elementary school in mid-june. on july 1st police raided the camp and arrested two people. today the group is holding an event across the street from the school. they say they will plan the next step of their fight against the oakland school district. a sacramento area highway has reopened following a man hunt for a suspect in the shots fired call. the chp closed part of interstate 80 yesterday afternoon after receiving a call about a man firing a machine gun in a west sacramento warehouse. officers reopened the roadway after they were unable to locate the man. this morning the robbers fire has destroyed one house in prosser county and still threatening another 170. the fire burned more than 1900 acres in a heavily wooded area of the county about 15 miles northeast of sacramento. governor brown called in national guard helicopters to knock down the flames.

himself. a 3-year-old girl is recovering today after falling out of a second story apartment window in fremont. that accident happened yesterday morning at the waterstone at fremont apartments on fremont boulevard. police say the young girl was on a bed and leaned against a window screen that gave way causing her to fall to the concrete below. she was transported to the hospital and kept for observation. police say the girl had a few cuts and bruises but was not seriously hurt. this morning investigators are looking into the cause of a small plane crash in novato. it happened just before 4:00 yesterday afternoon near noss field. authorities say a student pilot reported having engine trouble before he skidded off the runway and into a nearby marsh. >> there were several other pilots in the area that either heard or witnessed the incident, rushed over, lifted the rear of the aircraft up off the ground and was -- that allowed the pilot to exit the aircraft. >> the student pilot has only

minor injuries. airport operations at gnoss field have returned to normal. the reno convention authority voted to put money towards the air races so organizers can afford their insurance premiums for the event jumped to $2 million after cash last september killed a pilot and 10 people on the ground. race officials say about a million dollars has been raised so far. the premium must be paid before september 1st. that deadline or the event will be cancelled. the journey is over for two men who hope to make a tandem lawn chair balloon flight from oregon to montana but their lawn chairs apparently are continuing the trip without them. the men took off yesterday morning from a gas station in bend, oregon. they were in lawn chairs that had 350 helium balloons attached. the men had hoped to make it all the way to montana but seven hours into their flight, thunderstorms forced them to make a hard landing. >> you can set a kleenex on

24-year-old ben lyndon was surfing when friends when he was attacked by what a witness described as a great white. >> i raced to grab the body and the shark came at me on the jet ski and tried to knock me off. >> bait lines now in the water near the attack site to catch the shark. beaches in the area remain closed. warning signs posted at pismo beech after someone spotted -- beach after someone spotted a shark. >> did you notice that sign? >> i did and saw it and thought god, sharks. >> a surfer saw a 12-foot shot about 150 yards offshore on thursday. the warning signs expected to stay up until later today unless another shark sighting. boaters being advised to watch out for blue whales. this is the time of year when the whales make their way through the area to feed through the bay.

the vaneesha police station. we were the only news crew in vallejo when robert flores holster was taken into custody about two hours ago. he blew a kiss into our camera. he's accused of driving a stolen car and shooting at a vaneesha police officer yesterday. there was a $1 million arrest warrant on fullster. coming up at 9:45, lorraine blanco will talk live with police about the man hunt and that arrest. the highway patrol says road rage may may have caused a fiery crash that killed a man, it happened on hall road west of irwin lane in santa rosa yesterday afternoon. investigators say a woman was chasing a motorcycle at a high rate of speed when she lost control and hit a lexus and then another car. that second car overturned and caught fire killing a 55-year- old man. investigators say alcohol or drugs may have played a role in that crash. a san francisco man is recovering after getting hit by a car and then beaten up. the attack happened early friday morning on the 3300

block of 18th street in the mission district. the victim was first struck by a silver sedan and after he crawled to the sidewalk, several people got out of that car and started to punch him. it's unclear what prompted the attack. the 35-year-old victim suffered a broken arm and leg. no word on any arrests. two new traffic laws were just signed into law and they may be a welcome change for some drivers. starting january 1st, state law will allow you to park at broken meters. that means you won't get an automatic ticket if you are at a broken meter. also starting january 1st, california drivers will be allowed to text behind the wheel but there are some restrictions. under a new law signed by governor jerry brown drivers will be able to send messages but only if they are using a hands-free device. this will be the first time californians will be able to text while driving since it was outlawed more than three years ago. compensation and funding cuts are expected to top the agenda when the california state university governing

day and the other two were caught yesterday. police say the men had stolen property from other burglaries and were driving a stolen car when they were arrested. a 26-year-old petaluma woman in jail this morning arrested for attempted carjacking. police say ashley barns was approaching people yesterday in the parking lot of raley supermarket. they say she walked up to two different people, said she had a gun and demanded their cars. both people refused and ran away to call police. police say barns was on probation out of sonoma county for possession of a loaded firearm. bail has been set at $15,000. after nearly 24 years on the run, 45-year-old vincent walters now in police custody. he was found working in mexico as a cancun international -- at the cancun international airport. walters is the u.s. marshal's 15th most wanted fugitive. wanted for the 1988 kidnapping and murder of a woman in san diego. he is also facing drug and weapons charges. tomorrow marks four months since sierra lamar vanished

month. officials say a fire at a key supplier for the keystone oil pipeline project has caused more than 1000000 1/2 dollars in damage. the fire broke out yesterday at the well spun tubular plant in little rock, arkansas. the fire contained to a single room deep within the plant but plant officials say they don't know how long it will take to replace broken equipment and clean off the smoke damage to thousands of pipes. >> we got an estimate of a million 1/2 so far but every day they are out of business i'm sure that's going to be a larger amount. >> wellsman tubular is contracted to provide hundreds of miles of pipeline for a portion of the controversial project. a proposed expansion of the keystone pipeline would carry heavy crude from alberta, canada to the gulf coast. a shell oil ship now reanchored after nearly running aground. it slipped its anchorage yesterday and began moving

ktvu channel 2 news -- ktvu channel 2 news. san mateo county will soon have a new jail and not everyone is happy about it. >> no more cages. we need justice living wages. >> a small group of protesters demonstrated in redwood city yesterday at the site of the county's newly approved jail. protesters say the $155 million to build the jail and the 40 million used to run it annually should be used instead on education and community resources. >> i think that if they doing this, that they are committing the resources that we need to educate our children to the confinement of their parents. >> we want to put in programs, greater programs than we can do now because of the overcrowding and the lack of space and see if we can do the wraparound services to help people rehabilitate and be able to get out on their own and do well in the community. >> the jail has been in the planning stages for seven years. it's scheduled to open in 2015. a federal jury in san francisco has ordered the maker of the blackberry to pay more than $147 million in damages to

a new jersey company for patent infringement. m information sued research in motion in 2008 accusing it of infringing on a patent for technology that allows companies to remotely access employee cell phones. the verdict is just the latest setback for research in motion which has seen blackberry sales drop due to competition from the iphone. the environmental protection agency has dropped a proposal that would have required large livestock farms to report on how they handle waste. the e.p.a. says it will collect the information from other sources instead. concentrated animal feeding operations can generate tons of waste. environmentists push for the proposed rule but industry groups threatened to sue if it was adopted. president obama is scheduled to make a stop in the key battleground state of ohio tomorrow. he will then head to texas for two fundraisers. the president also make a campaign stop in virginia over the weekend where he kept up his attacks on mitt romney. the president called romney a quote pioneer of outsourcing

yesterday in greensburg, pennsylvania telling supporters romney is the right person to lead the country. al tanian man spaying special tribute to his wife who died in the costa concordia tragedy six months ago. he dove 25 feet into the ocean to place a memorial plaque on the wreckage of the cruise ship. his wife was traveling with their daughter on the cruise and insisted that the girl leave on one of the first life boats. she is one of two passengers whose bodies have not been found. 32 people died when the ship sank off the coast of italy. at this hour, an american woman is heading to the international space station. >> three, two, one, lift-off. >> anita williams blasted off this morning in a rocket over -- it will take two days before they reach the space station which is currently orbiting up to 255 miles above the earth.
