a officer involved shooting in the financial district. ktvu's paul chambers is live near the scene where police brocked off an area. paul, what have you learned? >> reporter: the chief wrapped up a press conference. there is an active scene out here assertions try to -- as officers try to figure out what happened. this vehicle is the person who was involved in the shooting. started at 10:17 at the chocolate factory inside peer 17. a stabbing happened right there. the person left that place, the suspect left that place, walked up washington and when he got to the intersection, he came across one officer. he ignored the officer and came across the second officer and he rushed the officer. a witness, this is what he had

right now. ktvu's christien kafton is live in san francisco to explain why the students are so upset. >> reporter: i just checked on the meeting 5 minutes ago, look you can see the police presence here still in front of the building. this morning we watched as protesters went into had meeting and brought it oo a halt -- to a halt. >> reporter: a group largely made up of university of california students executed a zombie takeover. >> reporter: reenacting the dance moves from thiller from the 1980s. it brought the meeting meeting to a halt. they left it room and after 10 minutes police moved in, ordered the crowd to disperse, which the protesters did. >> reporter: the protesters insist it comes with a message.

they are urging the board of regence to support governor jerry brown's proper 30. they say if it isn't passed the university could implement a 20.3 fee hike and they said if the fees are raised it would only effect some schools. >> the highest increases are in those fields where salaries are more lucrative, business school, law school, medical school. >> reporter: the students say the money should go to education and the idea of raising fees isn't fair. >> that is not true. we have a hard enough time affording school and we are not in professional fields yet.

person was a tcho temporary employee. 30 years old. a shooting happened at 10:14 at peer 17. he went up to a co-worker and slashed him. the victim, the establishing victim followed the suspect up washington street, that is when the suspect engaged one officer. the officer told the suspect to stop. ignored the first officer. came across a second officer. the officer tried to -- the suspect tried to rush the officer with a knife. the officer fired two shots. the victim fell down. he was handcuffed. after the officers rolled him over they saw he was shot and they treated him on the scene. there was 10 minutes in between
