police are investigating how she died. the biggest child pornography operation in northern california history. "operation chickenhawk." ktvu's janine de la vega tells us one officer described the images as haunting. >> reporter: we are here on blossom hour, police took a 32- year-old moon who lives here into cust -- man who lives here into custody for child pornography. 10 men today have been arrested for that. >> reporter: police spanned out surprising people they believe have child pornography in their home. you can see one of them. he was arrested at this house. the internet crimes against children task force was able to target them through decoy operation. >> they think they are trading peer to peer child pornography when they are raiding with

police officers. >> reporter: police arrested this teen. neighbors say he just graduated from high school. >> he is very nice. we always say hi, and bye to him. >> reporter: investigators foundp enough evidence on hard driving -- found enough evidence on hard drives to book him. >> reporter: 150 detectives teamed up to serve 20 search warrants. >> this van allows us to preview hard drives for that evidence and determine whether or not there is enough probable cause for arrest. >> reporter: at this location he was arrested. neighbors cheered when they heard what police were doing in the neighborhood. police say after viewing the images it is haunting. >> some of it stays with you and acts as a motivation to clean the streets up of this problem.

>> reporter: so far here are the pictures of 3-10 men arrested today. again, in the past 30 minutes, a man was arrested from a home, he is married, doesn't have a criminal history and he was surprised that police arrested him. police are still at numerous locations and expect to make more arrests tonight. janine de la vega, ktvu channel 2 news. police and city workers evicted homeless people who have been camping there for months. police say recent fires prompted the move. they passed out motel vouchers on monday. this morning workers cleaned up items that were left behind. >> it has been terrible. they have been out here for months, since the winter time. it will be good to have them out of here. >> officials plan to hand out

more motel vouchers today. the man who was shot and killed by police yesterday has been identified. he was 32-year-old pralith pralourng and was an employee at tcho new american chocolate factory on peer 17. he injured a co-worker with a box cutter and ran out of the building and when approached by police he lunged at the officer with the blade and that is when the officer shot him. police identified a man arrested following a police chase that caused a crash injuring two people. happened last night. 32-year-old randall evans sped off when officers tried to pull him over. a few blocks later he crashed into a car injuring the people

inside. he was arrested a block away. he was also wanted on a weapons warrant. frustration and heavy hearts after 15 laptops stolen from a san francisco organization that brings high tech skills to low income students. ktvu's rob roth is live with why what the students lost goes beyond the hardware. rob? >> reporter: the burglary was brazen. happened inside this building on third street. and missing lab top computers students were using for their summer project. >> reporter: the center for arts and technology students are working to replace what they lost. the lab tops are now gone. >> -- laptops are now gone. >> it is troublesome.

>> reporter: it hurts? >> yeah. a lot. >> my hard work i put into is for nothing. >> reporter: they are a non- profit organization that teaches students skills. the founder says the building was breached through a second floor window. the thieves repelled down this wall, broke into the cabinet and took the laptops. >> it is shocking. shocked everybody. we wanted to provide a safe environment. >> reporter: they launched a campaign to replace the laptop. but unless the computers are recovered a lot of work will be lost for good and perhaps something else. >> this is a non-profit trying to help people. i don't think they would be a target for this kind of stuff.

dealing with two problems, out of control weeds and out of control frogs. ktvu's sal castaneda shows us what they are doing it the pond. sal? >> reporter: frank it is hard to tell but at one point this used to be a pond that had lilly pads coming up and clear water. now it looks like a mess but cleaning it up won't be that easy. >> reporter: it used to be a pristine lilly pond now golden gate park lilly pond is over run. the frog, living in aboundance under water must -- abundance under water must be removed. >> many are released by misguided humans and when they are released they are subjected

to environmental perils that cause them to starve. >> nature is beautiful no matter how you look at it as long as you get the values out of it. the city plans to drain the pond aat the cost of $100,000. but removing the frogs are not that simple. environmentalists are worried they will move to another pond. this pond is a visual reminder of what can happen when people grow tired of pets and release them. >> reporter: fish and game officials plan to remove the frogs by this fall and that is when the city can restore this pond. live in san francisco, sal castaneda, ktvu channel 2 news. a police dog helped chase down a suspect today after

authorities discovered a large marijuana grow. state fish and game and officials found athe farm in the san jose -- found the warm in the san jose foot hills. police dog chased down one suspect. the man faces charges of growing marijuana for sale and polluting. contra costa county plans to spray for muketooes -- mosquitoes. the county says they detected west nile virus in the area. officials in santa cruz say this year they found birds infected with west nile virus.

firefighters kept a barn fire from spreading to nearby

homes this morning. it broke out about 3:20 a.m. this morning. the fire destroyed the barn and a horse trailer inside. it may be impossible to determine the cause because the damage was so severe. -6z regulators say they were not misled at a nuclear power plant. it has been shut down since january after a break in a generator tube. they say southern california edison lied about changes to the generators but a report says they provided all the information required. police are asking for help in identifying a burglar seen in surveillance video. investigators posted this video on youtube showing the suspect. you see the man walking from the car from the victim's home and back again. a while later police say he

that are using the sedative alone with georgia planning to join them soon. they had to stop using the three drug method because one of the drugs is no longer available. california hasn't executed anyone since 2006 when a judge imposed a moratorium after complaints the state's three drug method caused excruciating pain. the district attorney personally prosecuted three. >> people who do not support this punishment has been successful in creating road blocks to prevent justice. >> reporter: in november california will vote whether they want to abolish the death penalty here. she says till then the discussion should not be about how to execute people but whether they should be executed at all.

threatening. couple died in alaska in the crash of a plane. the plane was in route from fort yukon to fair banks when it disappeared last night. troopers confirmed two people died but bad weather hampered the recovery effort. the plane was registered in palo alto. at this point the victim's names haven't been released. the law enforcement community crests new safety measures for lower deaths. that is down by half compared to last year. one california officer was on that list. he was shot and killed by serving an eviction notice. president obama hit the campaign today in florida
