brazen attempt to try to steal a bike. >> see why he wasn't expecting to get a couple of bats too. and some scuba divers get a terrifying surprise. >> it looks like a big dust storm underwater. >> why they never thought they'd see this down there. there's a car in the southbound line of i-295 and main except the car is headed north in the wrong direction. on the call is maine state trooper doug cropper. this is trooper cropper's dash cam. you've got to point out first the man is driving like a stuntman. he's weaving between traffic, trying to catch up with this guy. he's got to figure out where he is on the highway. eventually you see him on an on-ramp. he's got lights and sirens going, speeding up the on-ramp. now, this is the northbound

lane. as you can see trooper cropper is headed in the flow of traffic. the guy he's looking for is in the other lane going the same way as trooper cropper but that way is the wrong way. but watch what he does next. >> oh! >> whoa! >> he crosses over to the other lane and just heads this guy off, runs into him on purpose. >> and he had to make that decision in a split second because that guardrail was open in just that exact spot. >> to tell us all about this, we've got trooper doug cropper joining us right this minute from maine. you had to make this split-second decision to sort of cut this guy off. what was going through your head? >> the last thing going through my head is please don't hit me in the door. we've lost too many police officers who have been involved in crashes where the other vehicle hit them in the driver's side door and they didn't survive. >> so what did end up happening once you did make impact with

the other driver? >> his front passenger tire deflated, his car stalled out, went another 15 to 20 feet and came to rest. >> now, both you and the driver, an 88-year-old man named kenneth gill, were not injured in this accident. did he say how he ended up in that position going the wrong way? >> no. we just suspected he got on one of the exit ramps the wrong way and just started driving north. >> help us understand the feeling that you have to go through to realize you're putting yourself directly in the line of harm. >> you join the force to protect the innocent, and in this case i was protecting the innocent motorists who didn't know this car was going the wrong way. if it meant putting my life on the line for it, then i did my job. it's a warm, summer afternoon in suburban chicago. sitting at home with your friend watching the live feed from your surveillance camera.

>> they continue to stand and watch and then goes back inside to finish his afternoon. >> he had some batting practice. i've got a quick compilation of some crazy accidents on, of course, russian highways. a tank slapper to start off with. this is a small tanker up ahead and traffic coming the other way seems to get him out of shape. just misses crashing into that van that was coming the other direction, but does hit that car. the truck erupts into fire. the camera doesn't show it, but a kind passerpasserby runs over pulls the driver from the cab. the farmer was concerned his milk would go sour. >> good thing it was a milk truck and not a fuel truck. that would be worse. over to moscow where this was caught on fire. a car fire.

other cars going right around like nothing is going on, until -- >> oh! >> oh, my goodness. >> let's watch that in slow motion. that little white chevy just scooting by this hollywood-like explosion that just lit up the whole area around it. unbelievable. wow, that white car just missed getting toasted, man. if it would have tapped its brakes for one second before that, oh, wow. >> i'm surprised the windows in that white car were blown out from that explosion. >> reports say the driver of the car that's on fire attempted to put the fire out with a fire extinguisher. that didn't work so i don't think there was anybody inside at the time of the explosion. this is really not how you want to spend your family trip to glacier national park. heavy rains caused several rock slides in the park and this is video of one of them. >> gee. >> kind of a big deal. >> did it hit a car?

>> in the area there were about 12 different rock slides. most cars were able to get away unharmed, but one of them did sustain pretty serious damage and the people inside did suffer minor injuries, but for the most part treated on the scene and were okay. >> i'm pretty panicked because you see what's going on up ahead. who knows when another one will start. >> there was a five-mile stretch of road that was closed for a really long time until all the debris was picked up. >> how do you get out of the way? you've got cars bumper to bumper. it's so hard to turn around and maneuver. >> even if you do get to turn around, there could be another rock slide right behind you. >> you could be trapped between two rock slides. >> from the description of this video, it seemed like it was taken from inside of a bus, and it seems like they were stuck inside this bus for about five hours. >> that thing will not be able to turn around like these cars. >> but at least everybody was okay. a race that is not for
