the lakeshore curve on the 580 interchange. it is looking good just a complete traffic update let's go back to the desk. we start with overnight news, an oakland police officer was taken away after his patrol car ended up inside an h&r building. at police headquarters with video of the accident and more on how it happened, good morning, lorraine. the officer was transported to hyland hospital just as a precaution and we are told he and the other driver are going to be okay but cars on the other hand, have quite a lot of damage. they have never seen anything like this and one of their squad cars are inside the business. he was on his way shortly before 1:00 a.m. when he collided with a prius.

the impact ended with a police car crashing into an h&r block and police sirens were blaring right before the crash. >> i was inside my house next door and i heard sirens and five seconds later i heard like a boom explosion. >> oakland police were on the way to a robbery at the time. two suspects were on the loose and those robbery suspects are now in custody and as for the crash it's now under investigation and at this point drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the collision. lorraine blanco ktvu channel 2 morning news. in san jose the red cross is helping 60 people find a new place to stay after a fire. here is a look at challenges the firefighters placed. jeanine?

>> reporter: the fire started in between these two buildings, the building here on the left side of the screen and we are told at one point everybody was evacuated and that was about 60 people because this fire quickly grew to four alarms. it broke out just after 9:00 in the camden avenue and firefighters arrived a short time later on the scene but the fire quickly grew and they had to call in additional firefighters are from santa clara county. the fire grew on to the second floor of the complex and one resident who was watching said people from the complex tried to help. >> i saw a lot of neighbors who were breaking open extinguishers and they were putting in their neighborly duty and it was nice to see that. >> firefighters got the fire under control a half hour later and at this time we are told 12 residents are now without homes because the homes had too much

. they are going to announce fines against penn state and joe paterno did not stop jerry sandusky from sexually abusing boys. yesterday the statue of joe paterno was removed from the stadium. >> this is drawing the

pickup truck. deputies say it crashed and it is not known why the truck driver lost control. two construction workers are dead, and it shut down a major freeway. it happened in the area of tore runs, according to chp, both cars lost control and hit two road workers. one was treated for minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. >> the envelopes were discovered in hayward, berkeley san leandro and oakland on friday. a 6th envelope arrived at a san francisco station on friday. they tested the powder at all areas and say it is harmless.
