president obama is here in the bay area this morning. he'll attend three fund- raiseers in oakland today. but first he's catching a plane and leaving the state. we'll tell you why. "mornings on 2" begins right now. well, good morning. i'm dave clark. >> good morning. i'm tori campbell. it's monday, july 22rd. -- july 23rd. police are investigating for at least one gunman after discovering a man and woman shot to death inside a home. janine de la vega is live with more. is there still a lot of activity at this hour? >> reporter: there definitely is. it's still roped off. we can't get into the area where all of the activity is

going on. it's about a two-block area that police have cordoned off as they search for a shooter. it's all happening down there midblock. there's a home where police say that's where the shots were fired. at 4:20 this morning, neighbors called 911 in the 300 block of 7th street. police arrived shortly thereafter and found the man and woman inside the home with gunshot wounds. officers fanned out looking for the shooters. some had rifles in their hands and were standing on various street corners. at this time, they don't have any details on the suspect. >> we don't have any details. we do believe this is both homicide victims. this does not appear to be a murder-suicide. right now we believe there is a suspect out there who committed two homicides. >> reporter: we don't know if there weigh as forced entry in

the house -- if there was a forced entry in the house or if the suspects knew the victims. we're told that the man and the woman who died this morning make the 21st and the 22nd homicide of this year in san jose. reporting live from san jose, janine de la vega, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you. 7:02. at least a dozen people are displaced by a san jose apartment building fire overnight. it happened at the del coronado complex at camden avenue around 9:00 a.m. firefighters say there's no sprinkler system and that flames quickly spread through the densely populated complex. they also say getting trucks close to the building was a challenge and that it took more than 90 minutes to control the flames. >> crews actually had to start the initial attack from the adjacent shopping center. that is what the closest access

into an h & r block. police are not sure who was at halt but witnesses confirm the lights and sirens were blaring before the crash. >> i was at my home next door and i heard sirens and then about five, seconds later, i heard a boom. >> reporter: the officer was -- the officer was transported to highland hospital, just at a -- just as a precaution. the crash is under investigation. you can see behind me the business is boarded up. city workers came down here early this morning to secure it. they haven't been able to get ahold of the people at h & r block just yet. lorraine blanco, ktvu channel 2 news. look at this. emergency crews had to use the jaws of life hit by a big rig in san leandro. this happened of a 3:00 a.m. and both vehicles were leaving 880. the chp says the big rig driver

slammed into a honda afford. the driver of the honda has a broken arm and minor injuries. the chp is conducting an investigation but says the big rig driver was at fault. security is extremely tight as the man suspect the in the colorado movie theater massacre is expected to enter a courthouse and face a man in 90 minutes and prosecutors say that james holmes could face the death penalty. he's accused of booby-trapping his apartment where investigators seized a batman poster and a map connected to the movie. 12 moviegoers died and 5 were wounded in the shooting. at a vigil honoring

7:53. a teenager is in a san diego hospital this morning after jumping from a cliff into the ocean over the weekend. rescue crews had to use a helicopter to bring the teen to safety. the crews say he landed on someone else after he jumped and that's why he was not hurt. no word on the extent, though, of the injuries. in oakland, a fire gutted the home but two people inside escaped safely. it happened on 98th avenue around 9:20 last night t took about 20 minutes to control the flames -- 9:20 last night. it took about 20 minutes to control the flames. the fbi is investigating white envelopes filled with white powders sent to police stations in hayward, union city, berkeley, san leandro and another one arrived in a san francisco station on friday.

good morning. welcome back. it's monday, july 23rd. we have developing news in san jose. police right now at the scene of a double homicide. it happened just hours ago. janine de la vega is on north 7th street right now where a man and a woman were found shot to death. they were found inside a home and bliss were searching for one shooter. >> reporter: that's what we know but there could be more than one. i'm here on 7th street near washington. just in the last hour, police

let us move closer. they are concentrated inside a home. that's where the crime scene investigators are. and that's where the body of a man and woman were found inside. we're still here waiting for the coroner to arrive. but in the meantime, investigators are processing the evidence that may lead to a shooter. now at neighbors called 911 after hearing gunshots in the 300 block of 7th street is police arrived shortly -- street. police arrived shortly after and found the bodies of a man and a woman. officers fabbed out looking for the shooters. some of them had rifles in their hands and were standing on the street corners. we just spoke to someone resident who worries their mother may know the victim. >> my mother was a friend here that lives very close to where the shooting took place. and so i'm just very nervous about this whole thing and i'm
