hello, everybody, i'm beth troutman. it's a brand new week, we have brand new videos "right this minute." cops arrest a pair of suspects, but while he's kicking his way out of the cruiser, here's what she's doing in the holding cell. see why two escapes are not better than one. what's a race car without a steering wheel? how a cool-headed driver got 'em to the finish line. >> don't they bolt these things in?
quote
9:01 am
some call it a work of art. what happens when a tagger is surprised by the long arm of the law. and some rare cubs with a rare eye condition. >> what do they think will happen? >> hear the plan to save their sight and how the cubs are getting around their problem. >> doesn't seem to effect their spirit. 23-year-old chante stratten and 40-year-old joseph chapman picked up and arrested for stealing a trailer. but farmington police department find out these guys are actually involved in stealing the personal information of more than 250 people. when this video begins they have stratten and chapman at the farmington police station. they have them in separate cars. officers lead stratten back to a holding cell. she's not cooperating. they finally get her into there. as they go to leave, she lunges for the door. while all of this goes on,
9:02 am
chapman is left in a police cruiser handcuffed in the back seat for himself. >> he kicks out the window, dives out the car. >> and is able to escape and take off. unbeknownst to officers, takes the officers about a minute to figure out what happened. they're setting up a perimeter to track this guy down. here's what stratten is doing in the holding cell. pulls something out of her bra, gets the door open and escapes. >> picks the lock? >> yes, let's listen to lieutenant parish snyder. >> we are trying to figure out how she got out of that cell. >> stratten with you found an hour later hiding in bushes. chapman got away in a black hummer and they are looking to adjustments. >> we will probably change our procedures how we handle unattended prisoners in the back of police cars. >> in their defense, they probably didn't expect anybody
9:03 am
to kick the window out and ease out like a worm. >> these are criminals. they will do anything they can, and they did. >> right stick. left stick. >> it's about three minutes from the end of the stage at the new england forest rally. we have rory gardner, he's the driver. steven harold is the navigator shouting directions. >> right stick. left stick long over bump. >> there's a couple things critical to a race car. engine, wheels, brakes, steering wheel. >> what's wrong? >> steering wheel came off. >> what the heck? >> he somehow manages to keep this car on the course. you can see the course is a dirt road that is turning all over the place through a tunnel of trees. >> all right. good. left stick long over bump long. that was an interesting one. >> how old is the driver?
9:04 am
he looks 12. >> i was thinking the same thing. i was thinking he looks like a 15-year-old that should be home playing video games. here he is. does a pretty good job. >> he was in the middle of a turn, too. that's like the worst time to lose your steering wheel. >> i was supposed to go that way. >> look at the navigator. he has a smile on his face. obviously they weren't too scared. >> i can't believe we got back straight. >> yeah. >> oh, gosh. heavy rainfall last week left some parts of pennsylvania, pittsburgh, the burghs with flash floods. here are some of the videos from it. this is one of the videos that we got from wpxi. >> flood of 2012. there's the floating dumpster down 51. >> apparently they got two inches of rainfall an hour and that left them with this.
9:05 am
>> luckily got all the cars out. the dumpster is floating. there is my man porky's car, completely screwed. >> poor porky. porky will need a good ride. >> hope you got good insurance. two cars screwed here. got that one. we got three. the old truck, too. i could probably get this old truck out of here, actually. i have the keys to this. i'll try to get the old truck out of here. i'll get back to you. >> i think he did. >> the problem is the video ens before we know if he got the truck out. i will go with you. i think he got it out. >> i also have another video. they were definitely rescuing drivers stuck in their cars in the flood. >> pittsburgh, my hometown, there's a lot of hills. a lot of hills. you would imagine that when there's a lot of hills, that means the water has got to go somewhere. it's no surprise that water will pool up in certain areas.
9:06 am
if you're not driving the big truck, you need to be extra care. on the road when you face one down. that's what happened to this woman in china. look what happened. >> what? oh. >> oh, my goodness. >> she got side swiped by that truck. oh, my. she just casually got off the bike. did she have the right of way here? she's in a crosswalk. it looks like she didn't take the chance to look first before she stepped out in front of a large truck. >> yes, she was in a crosswalk, no, she did not have the right of way. she was crossing against the light. he was trying to beat the light before it turned red. she just decided to go. what's interesting, eas her bike didn't end up so well. >> she tried to hold on to the
9:07 am
handlebars, that swung the bike around and she almost got run over by the back tires. >> there's the bike there. it's beat up. she's no worse for wear. look here. they're blaming each other. the video camera tells the tale, she was the one who crossed against the light. imagine sailing in the ocean, you come across this. >> not just one dolphin or two dolphins. >> wait for it. >> more than five? more than ten? >> hundreds. find out what's behind this stampede of dolphins. check out this woman. a scary-looking woman. >> very scary. >> she's a robot that will mimic your facial expressions. sound creepy?
9:10 am
long. >> it's unfortunate that teenagers nowadays think it's funny when you trash your neighbor's other other peoples property. like these guys right here. >> oh. >> well, hum. >> this was at a home in virginia. >> i was expecting some hoodlums. >> these teenage bears are going at it. they are trashing the front yard. >> is it a bird feeder maybe? >> maybe. why the heck else would they want it. >> right. >> i will take this back to my cave. >> you are correct master investigator nick. that is a bird feeder. >> it seems weird a huge couple hundred pound bear would be interested in bird feed. >> they have a big belly to fill. >> if i saw a bear in my front yard, i'd freak out a little bit two of them, i'd freak out a lot. >> they went through great pains to put other deterrents on there so squirrels can't get to it, other animals raiding the bird seed. the bears are just like, yeah. >> the bears won.
9:11 am
>> after they did this, they did come back for a repeat performance and they ran an left quite a mess. >> got it. don't leave food outside for the bears. >> if you're going to create a work of art, why not document the process of doing so. some call it a work of art. some call it a work of vandalism, because the guy is spray painting the side of this train. he set up the camera and sped up the process of his vandalism. >> oh, boy. >> the authorities show up. before you know it, they're like you got to go. little altercation there. the guy takes off. these dudes in the orange vest are after him. they're like we got to wash this train off. somebody call the cleaning crew. after the coast is clear, our artist comes back.
9:12 am
he set this to the theme from "chariots of fire." >> they always say a criminal returns to the scene of the crimement. >> he's returning to the scene of the crime to get his camera back, not to marvel at his work. >> of course. it's a good thing he went back for that camera, because there could have been video of his face. hey, everybody, i got to spray this train. >> i don't know, all i see is yellow. >> it's unfinished. it could have been a beautiful mural of big bird. >> cannot condone his behavior, as you say. >> one of our service members returns home. his girl friend and family take some sailing. check out what they saw. >> not just one dolphin or two dolphins. wait for it. more than five. more than ten. >> oh, boy. >> wow. >> what they didn't know is that they were with head dolphins in this dolphin pod that had hundreds of dolphins.
9:13 am
apparently they were corralling the school of fish so they could feed on them. >> you can hear them jumping through the water. almost like a stampede of horses. >> it's cool, because you hear him say these are the herders. these are the lead dolphins. you have to imagine those couple up front are shouting back with the sonar back to the other dolphins. >> these are the herders. >> i think they knew this was a service member who had come back and were like let's put a welcoming show for him. >> you can hear them breathing. >> those are the out of shape ones. shouldn't have ate that burger. for me, it was seeing a bunch of them leaping out of the water beautiful way for nate d. choo nature to say welcome home, soon. >> spectators close to getting mud on them there. >> my goodness.
9:14 am
