bringing in $10 million. we are staying on top of the president's visit and the protesters facing off with police in oakland. once again these are pictures here of 19th and broadway which is shut down as a result of the protesters. we are monitoring the situation and we will go back out there live at 6:15 p.m. the suspect in the movie theater shooting appeared in a colorado courtroom today looking dazed and with his hair died orange. james holmes didn't say a word. his lawyers answered for him when the judge asked him if he understood his rights. 12 people died and 58 were founded in the shooting. family of the victims were in court today. he is expected to be charged next monday. >> an attorney for the parents of james holmes said they will stand by their son and their thoughts are with the victim's

another live look right now at protesters in the uptown area of oakland. right now they shut down 19th and broadway a block way from the fox theater where president obama will be speaking tonight at 8:00 p.m. it appears the police are giving the protesters space. we are continuing to keep an eye on this. the president is having dinner at a house in piedmont. he will be driving down to the fox theater, we expect around 8:00 p.m. tonight. we will have continuing coverage and keep an eye on the situation there in the uptown area of oakland. some breaking news right now to tell you about.

word of a traffic problem, accident on highway 1. authorities say the north bound highway 1 is shut down south of double slide. we are working to get more information on what happened. but possibly we have been told it is a one car accident, it rolled over multiple time. we are working to get more information. traffic delays on highway 1. if you could avoid that area you should. the police department became the 7th agency to receive a suspicious letter. it was delivered to the hayward police department yesterday and it contained a white powder but it was not harmful. when fremont police received that letter today they gave it to the fbi. five other police departments received similar letters. the mexican embassy opened today across the united states

to undocumented immigrant youth. it could benefit a million people 30 years old or younger who were brought to this country illegally as children. here in the bay area, you can visit offices in san jose and san francisco. the groups that rallied to save state parks are crying foul. ktvu's ken pritchett is live in sacramento with the $50 million scandal that cost the director her job. ken? >> reporter: behind me is the mansion, one of 70 state parks on the closure list. turns out this money within the parks department is enough to keep this and most of the state parks open for at least a year. it is a political and pr mess for the state. >> reporter: save our parks a battle cry heard loud and

often. she is with the california parks foundation. which led an effort for years to keep our parks open. >> we had kids holding bake sales for their parks. there is a sense the state let them down. >> we will do everything we can to right the ship. >> reporter: he is with the california natural resources agency which over sees the parks department. >> we are shocked shocked and disappointed. >> reporter: an audit discovered two unreported state park funds. one with $20 million. a second fund dedicated to off road vehicle parks, $33 million. the money was unreported for 12 years. long before governor jerry brown took office but he could face consequences. opponents have already latched on.

>> they can't even find it while they cut the parks, voters are going to be in no mood to send money. the money was found in special founds and governor jerry brown ordered an audit of all the special funds in california, there are more than $500. how this happened? attorney general is investigating. ken pritchett, ktvu channel 2 news. law enforcement agencies are marking 10 years since the state implemented the amber alert. it began in 2002. they post information about missing children on highway billboards, radio and television. 235 abducted children have been reunited since the program began. >> we started out with the radio, and then the message signs on freeways and roads. but since that the social media expanded that.
