well they couldn't cap it and pg&e workers are on the scene. i wanted to let you know they were briefly evacuated from four homes. we just got word they have been allowed back in and resumebly they will -- resumely they will be allowed and pg&e comes on the scene. we will have a little more on this coming up soon. at 6:01 let's go back to the desk. and near hercules, tara moriarty is at the gas station where the victims drove to get help, tara? >> reporter: we are learning more about the victims in this case. we understand they are both boyfriend and girlfriend and the young woman is currently undergoing surgery at a local hospital but she is expected to survive so that is good news. now police just told us this

car was filled with people, four adults and four children that were shot at last night around 10:45. the man was shot in the hand, you can see the bullet holes in the car, a white pontiac headed eastbound between funnel valley -- funnel valley panola valley road. they exited and got help and luckily no children were hurt. the suspect was traveling in the same direction as the victim's car and we believe they were headed to antioch. they shut down all lanes of traffic to investigate and if you have any information about the violence, you are urged to call the police department. they are not sure if the attack was indeed random or if they were targeted. we are following developing

news. it has been a very busy night for vallejo firefighters. they battled two fires which started minutes apart. it started at 2:00 a.m. on amador street. knows was hurt. then 20 minutes later, vallejo firefighters battled on sonoma boulevard. there is only minor damage. he will be with back with more later this hour. a probation officer accidentally shot himself. it happened on highway 17 not far from the summit in the santa cruz mountains. police first spotted the suspect and called for back up from other law enforcement agencies as they followed him up highway 17. they finally pulled him over and arrested him right in front

of a cal trans crew. >> they came up and some of us started looking to see what was going on. >> the probation officer who accidentally shot himself was not seriously hurt. the arrest caused a huge delay headed to the santa cruz mountains for several hours. gilroy police say the man they arrested last night was a dangerous felon. 23-year-old was wanted on weapons and burglary charges. there is an alert this morning, if you are planning to go to the garlic festival, there is a problem going on with several tickets. jeanine della vega is explaining why you should check your tickets, jeanine? >> reporter: that is because somebody made off with 1,000

tickets which is expected to open and set up has already begun and the tents are up and this whole grassy area will be filled with thousands of people. authorities want to make sure festivalgoers don't get duped. 500 general admission tickets and 500 screen tickets. they know which tickets were stole leap and you will get turned away at the gate. some are being sold on facebook. now it is very popular and attracts more than 100,000 people each year. it features concerts and of course garlic flavored food. the money raised goes to nonprofits and really the thief has stolen from nonprofit groups. if you want to buy your ticket

evacuated, people in four homes. we have just been notified those people are now allowed back in their homes. good news that those people have been let back in and the gas leak apparently has been capped. there is still more work to do. let's go to the bay bridge toll plaza and traffic is getting a little bit busy as you drive to the pay gates. and at allan rock, there is a crash at one of the lanes. if you have a way of getting around that, you may want to use 107 and get you into the valley that way. a very good morning, if you enjoyed yesterday's weather, there is not much changing. you can see coming down on the inland temperatures, it is not going to change too much. morning fog, pattern is on hold. very quiet here for a couple of days and looks like high

880 over crossing. it is about a 10 minute delay. the crash was in the lanes which is off to the shoulder and traffic is still slow in this area. they removed trash where you can see some slowed traffic, 880 and 280 are doing well. pretty good fog bank kind of a mild air mass. mostly cloudy by the coast, upper 50s to near 60 and mountain view hayward 60 and napa, between 60 and 50 degrees and tropical thunderstorms were giving a great light show and now it is out of the picture with the high pressure system which also goes off to the east

was stretched over the gorge. the officer was chasing the man when they both went over retaining wall. a watchdog group is investigating. and a man drowned and it is the 4th fatality. firefighters were called to sunset beach at about 4:20 yesterday afternoon. investigators say the man starting thrashing around and went under. now earlier a 13-year-old drowned near steel head beach. critics are calling this a throw back idea from 1982 and it is reported to be a tunnel that would divert water under the sacramento river under the estuary. people who make their living are already opposing this idea.

voters already decided it was a bad idea 30 years ago. it would help with the water in the bay area while creating new habitat for endangered species. and they voted to ban medical marijuana dispensaries. it moves them to the city. city council members say it is too many pot clubs to control and they have many complaints. the new ordinance allows patients and their care givers to share and grow marijuana in groups of no more than three people. the ban is expected to take affect in 30 days. sal, what are they needing to know? >> well, the traffic is not all that bad. bay bridge is crowded and we will tell you about that coming up in just a few. that is waking up as well and some people may be on 280 and

pulled off the freeway and right in front of this gas station, two of them bloody suffering from gunshot wounds. taking a look at some surveillance footage, unfortunately it did not provide any clues. he is described as a 24-year- old african-american man who was shot in the hand. his 24-year-old girlfriend was shot in the leg and arm and she is currently undergoing surgery and is expected to survive. you can see the bullet holes which is headed eastbound on interstate 880 between panola and interstate 880. the couple then drove to the gas station off the willow exist to get help. luckily no children were hurt. they just bought the car and we are not sure if this was a case

of mistaken identity or they were targeted. they shut down the freeway for 20 minutes while officers scoured the freeway. now the unknown suspect vehicle was traveling in the same direction as the victim's car so if you remember seeing anything you are urged to contact police. hercules police drove up just asymmetry ago and they are in the back of the store again looking at that surveillance footage. they are not releasing the identities but they have been in touch with the woman's family and they hope they can catch the people responsible for this crime. tara moriarty ktvu channel 2 morning news. and in overnight news, firefighters battled a fire. look at the firefighters on the roof how close they are. this is about 3:15 this

morning. they were just inches away from the house and the smoke. neighbors say it has been a homeless income. they were able to get those out before they spread to nearby homes. and an early morning fire badly damaged a nearby home around 3:30. we were told the family was home at the time but everybody got out safely and no word on what caused the fire. they have can capped a gas leak right near interstate 880 and we want to take you live where you can see the activity. pg&e crews are trying to reach

that gasoline and they forced several people to evacuate the area and we understand they are now safely back in their homes. and the gas sent plumes of what looked like smoke, they tell us it was dirt that the gas turned into a fine powder and no injuries were reported and pg&e will be there all day to repair that problem. the san francisco sheriff's department, he is due in court today. he is a gay lieutenant and he is accused of punching another man in the castro district last week. he spoke to the alleged victim who did not want to show his face. >> hit to the nose, couple of hits to the face, jaw, little, injured, my thumb -- my hand.

>> he is well with known and he was recently seen in the butch factor examining the lives of several gay men. this is last night's crash. demonstrators kicked his car. they are angry over a five deadly officer involved shooting including two just this passed weekend and you can see a number of things are thrown into a crowd of police officers. the city voted unanimously to ask the federal government to investigate the police shootings. well back here, somebody is spoiling the gilroy garlic festival. they have made off with thousands of stolen stick kits. -- tickets. they have a warning to anybody who bought those tickets. >> reporter: they are investigating who made off with

the 1,000 tickets from the office. you can see this place will be filled with people when the festival starts but organizers are worried people will mistakenly buy these tickets and will be turned away at the entrance. this is what they look like, 500 senior tickets were taken recently from the office on the screen, they were printed on lie lack color paper. the festival features live concerts and of course lots of garlic food. the money goes to charities and none profits and the thief has stolen from them. now the value of all the

. two people were injured near hercules. it happened at 5:45, those children were not hurt. he accidentally shot himself during the arrest of a suspected gang leader. that probation officer was not seriously hurt. and they are extending inspiring tax cuts from those less than 250,000 a year.

they want to extend to everybody so the bill is not expected to pass. and they battled two fires that started minutes apart. one fire was at a strip mall, the other at a home, paul? >> reporter: it appears crews are wrapping things up and there are about five trucks out here. look for yourself. they had a lot to deal with and it basically collapsed in one section right there. it was partially gone and the back of the area is where they believed the fire may have started as a result of a car outside. >> i was getting ready for bed and i smelled smoke and i seen the whole backside of the fire on the garage, that is where it started from. >> now the fire started just before 2:00 when crews arrived on the scene and 50% of the home was on fire.

it may have started in the back left corner of the house. nobody was inside during the fire and it was the first of two early morning fires and it started almost 20 minutes away about a mile away. >> crews had to be broken free and sent over to that fire and had a lot more minor damage, wable to get control of it and more of the inn sip yen -- more of the bigger fires. >> neither is considered suspicious and we are back out here live. >> reporter: crews are turning it over and they are staying out here to make sure there are no flare-ups and when we find out any source or cause we will pass it along to you.

new information in a high profile mass murder case, convicted serial killer wesley howard shermantine says the remains of 14 victims are hidden in a recreation area of lake mendocino counties. investigators are now looking into that claim but they need more specifics before they can search 60,000 acre area. they suspect suspect they killed more than 70 people. a popular dating website has yanged a profile for somebody who appears to show a man with reddish orange hair, similar to holmes hair when he appeared in court. it included the question, will you visit me in prison. the profile was posted before last week's mass shooting. and the republican

everybody knows who he is. >> yes, that was funny video, angry grandpa versus christmas tree. good morning everybody, let's take a look. highway four, some of that traffic is spreading to the bay point area, there have been no major problems along the stretch when it comes to stalled vehicles and also from pleasant hill, at the bay bridge it is backed up at the mcarthur maze. the metering lights are on and it is not all that bad getting back into the city. we had a series of accidents at the 280 interchange and northbound 110 is backed up and slows again after 880. however it is a good alternate,

let's go to steve. well, mostly cloudy morning, sunshine but a little breeze temperatures are starting to come down a little bit. coast and bay dealing with a big fog bank and wanter weather? once we get to early august, we'll see some of that, we'll see, it has been the pattern warmup and then it cools down for a few days. and it is not a strong sea breeze, fso is calm although they are reporting flight delays on twitter due to light clouds and fog but there is a westerly component. napa airport, mid-50s, upper 50s, you can see all the tropical clouds and thunderstorms and they rotate around the high pressure system

so that is why we had that in the sierra nevada and you can see pins in the atmosphere which is moving in along the west coast. that allows temperatures, fog for some. mild around the bay, with a breeze. 60s and 70s and 90s. walnut creek, brentwood oakly, still warm, 79 san jose, sunny veil 78 degrees, san mateo, palo alto 78. looks like night morning fog, it takes us to friday and we should see a rebound in some of those inland temperatures. this morning, boeing announced second quarter profits rose three% and there is $679 million and they saw revenue jump 40%. there is also unexpected sales
