stuck at the top of the roller coaster for more than 90 minutes. alex. >> reporter: yeah long ordeal for those folks. what was key in that rescue operation was this giant crane that is here at the park all the time. this was used to hoist the firefighters up there so they could assist the folks that were stuck up on that ride 150 feet up in the air. this happened before a twist. riders were luckily stuck right up. a nerve racking two hour ordeal for these riders. six flags will investigate later today what caused the ride to stall out. is a spokesperson told us this was a computer programming issue. vallejo firefighters were called in yesterday afternoon. they used this crane to bring waters to the stranded riders. and while mechanics at the same time were working to restart the ride eventually everyone was brought back down safely to the ground and we talked with

battalion chief that requires this crane to remain on site in case something like this happens. >> we arrived. we put the crane on site into place. we actually have done training with this in case the situation arose. >> reporter: none of the riders in the end were hurt. and the superman ride will remain closed for a thorough inspection here at six flags. it won't reopen until the problem has been identified and properly fixed. live this morning in vallejo alex savidge ktvu channel 2 news. one of the men suspected of abducting a monterey county teenager is in custody this morning but the man hunt continues for his son who is the boyfriend of the victim 16- year-old eunice serrato went missing saturday night after two men were killed in her father's home. serrato's 19-year-old boyfriend and father are considered persons of interest in that double homicide. investigators say the 19-year- old suspect should be

considered armed and dangerous. torres is expected to enter a plea. he was arrested in may and charged with lamar's kidnapping and murder. investigators began watching him in march 12 days after lamar disappeared on her way to school. dna linked him to the case. the lamar family told ktvu they do not plan to attend tomorrow's hearing. they remain focused on finding the missing 15-year-old. they held a fundraiser for the sierra lamar search. >> good to be surrounded by all these people that care about the cause. >> we need something to uplift us and these kind of events have been able to do it for us. >> lucky strike donated all the fees from the four lanes to the search cause and people bowling also made their own donations. the man accused in the

deadly colorado theater shooting is expected to find out what charges he will face this morning. james holmes shot and killed 12 people and injured 58 more. he is expected to face a number of charges including murder, attempted murder, and aggravated assault. this is his second appearance in court but unlike last time cameras will not be allowed in the court. the impact of the shooting is being felt here. >> we remember john larimer. we remember jessica goth. >> this rally was one of 25 similar events held nation-wide organized by jesse jackson rainbow push coalition. they called on lawmakers to tackle the issues of gun control. >> it's time we act like a civilized society and get rid of the automatic weapons. >> the group wants the assault

weapons that were banned in 2004 to be reissued. the gun used in the colorado shooting was a semi automatic. members of congress say their agenda is full and they probably won't have time to tackle gun control issues this year. a family is in mourning after a bizarre party bus accident. natasha nolan fell out of a bus on friday night. tara moriarty is live in santa cruz were more on the young woman's life and the investigation into her death. >> reporter: the chp says the woman driving the bus will not be charged and no word yet on whether criminal charges will be filed against the woman that was involved in the fight with the victim. meanwhile friends have been stopping by this very popular surf shop here where the victim worked. friends describe natasha nolan as a carefree and fun person. the woman that worked at her parents popular surf shop and planning to attend san jose state in the fall.

nolan died during a brawl with another woman while it was traveling through los gatos friday night. investigators say the bus of about 15 people was heading southbound on highway 17 just before midnight when the fight broke out. >> somehow the door opened to the bus, the two people involved fell out of the bus. >> reporter: while the bus was moving? >> while the bus was moving. approximately 45-50 miles an hour. >> reporter: nolan was run over and killed by the bus. the other woman suffered road rash but was otherwise fine. investigators are trying to track down all of the witnesses to figure out how this door opened. the chp says all of the people aboard the bus was extremely drunk with the exception of the driver. this comes after a bill to clamp down on party buses is making its way through the legislature. live from santa cruz i'm tara moriarty. today is the start of the legal show down between apple

the commute looks. >> it's monday. it looks great. so let's go out and take a look at what we have now. traffic is moving along pretty well now. if you are driving and worried about road work on 80 westbound it is not going to be an issue here. normally you see here the traffic on 80 eastbound is effected by road work. it wasn't there overnight. westbound 80 traffic also looks pretty good. also the morning commute looks pretty good here at the bay bridge toll plaza. there are no major problems if you are driving on to the bridge. i want to look at interstate 280 in san jose and that is off to a nice start. if you are beginning on this monday, probably trying to get back into it it looks good. what 'cuz the weather look like? >> it will be warmer today. for others it will be hot. tropical cloud cover stays to the south right now. keep an eye on that for later in the week. sea breeze cut in half. it's decreasing over in fairfield. after what was a couple cool

good morning. low clouds and fog but the fog is currently getting closer to the deck. inland temps will warm up. 80s and 90s there. 60s and 70s around the bay. the search continues for a man that shot at a bay point house wounding an eight-year- old girl and a 22-year-old man. the contra costa county sheriffs department say the two victims were inside the home on franklin avenue on saturday. a car stopped out front, a man got out and fired one to two rounds. the victims were taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. in oakland police arrested three people after a triple shooting early yesterday morning. it happened just before 3:30 on 87th avenue near g street.

the three victims were taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. an argument appears to have prompted that shooting. and there is growing concern over a pacifica woman that has been missing now for five days. 76-year-old maria jansen was last seen by her husband outside their home late wednesday. she is 5'5", weighs 105 pounds and may have been wearing yellow crock style shoes. over the week more than 100 volunteers searched san pedro valley park for that missing woman. the 76-year-old woman reportedly suffers from dementia. today republican presidential candidate mitt romney heads to poland. he spent the weekend in israel meeting with leader there is. he also visited the western wall in jerusalem. romney inserted a written prayer into one of the cracks of the wall. romney reaffirmed the u.s.

police. u.s. auditors say the main problem is the u.s. never got a sold commitment from iraqs government to participate in the training program. according to the report, many iraqi leaders don't want to appear dependent on american assistance so they are not interested in further u.s. training. the number of u.s. advisories in iraq has been cut by nearly 90% from 350 to 36. it's anytime to get -- it's time to get another look at traffic. how is it looking if >> we are off to a deseptember start -- decent start on this monday. let's take a look at some of the pictures. this is a look at the 80 freeway. not a bad drive at all. it looks pretty good heading out to the mccarthur maze. it has been a very nice drive. also we are looking at the toll plaza and this traffic commute looks very nice. if you are driving into san francisco, you shouldn't worry about anything on the bridge. again we look at 280 and san jose. one of the main freeways get into the valley. that is doing very nicely.

steve, will we have a nice monday? >> depends on what your definition of nice is. >> moderate temps? >> for some, yes. cool for others. it will be warmer to hot for many. tropical clouds down to the south. less of a sea breeze today. temperatures starting off low 50s to upper 50s. santa rosa 51 under clear skies. napa airport reporting a little fog. depends on where you are the fog much shallower today. high pressure wins out for the next couple of days. as this drifts back the western edge warms inland areas up. if history repeats itself it looks like the east bay will take the bulk of the warming and most locations will stay in the 80s. that has been the pattern this entire summer. warm to hot inland. fog, sun by the coast. fog, sun warmer though for many. temperatures 85. that is downtown probably about 88 toward sonoma county airport. 95 antioch.

66 in the city. 79 san rafael. one day we warm up a little bit, the next day cool down a few degrees. about the same on wednesday into thursday. it appears by the weekend we'll see lower pressure. >> thank you, steve. accused serial killer joseph naso is due back in the marin county courtroom. he is expected to ask for another formal review of the dna evidence against him as he gets ready for this trial. he is acting as his own attorney. he is accused of killing four northern california women in crimes dating back to the 1970s. and charges are pending against the teenage driver in orange county that led police on a chase that ended in a crash and gunfire. chp officers say they used pit maneuver to end the chase that started yesterday afternoon when the driver left the scene of the crash. the suspects pickup truck crash into a patrol car after that maneuver and one shot was

fired. controversy and outrage that is the feeling in mississippi after a church refused to marry an african american couple. first baptist church in crystal springs has never had an african american wedding in its 129 year history. wilson has been going to the church for more than a year. when the couple decided to get married, she wanted to tie the knot at her church. after church members protested the church told the couple to get married somewhere else. >> why didn't those people stand up in the beginning if it was such a minority of people why didn't the majority stand up and say in god's house we don't do this? >> i didn't want to have a controversy in the church and i want a controversy to effect the wedding. >> now some congress begans say the couple and church can move on. a unity rally is being held tonight in response to the churches decision. dozens of volunteers came out for a bone marrow drive to help save the life of a

critically ill teenager. she has leukemia. her family members are not a match unfortunately. the oakland police department and community members have tried to help by setting up bone marrow drives targeting the latino community. >> the latino community, the african american community we have lower survival rights because there is not enough of us on the registry. >> rodriguez's family say they hope to hold another drive in the near future. today is the third full day of the london summer olympics. todays events include the men's gymnastic finals. u.s. team could win their first gold medal since 1984. as for the medal count china leads with 12. six of those are gold. italy and south korea and japan round out the top five. london police say security has not been compromised despite a missing set of keys. the keys have not been found

san diego zoo is celebrating the birth of a new record setting baby panda. it's the sixth cub born at the zoo. that is the most births. the pregnancy was considered high risk because of the mothers age. but mother and baby are doing just fine. the bay area is bucking the trend. the average price for a gallon of regular is $3.49. our local prices are still close to where they were a month ago. in oakland prices are down in the last week. in san francisco they have held steady. part of a street in one of san francisco's busiest areas will be set down for the next

five years. starting today a two block stretch of doctor street will be closed between ellis and gory streets. the five-year detour is being put into place to build an under ground stop for the subway system. between thanksgiving and new years shoppers will get a break. and to take a look at traffic in our area let's go to sal for another look at the commute. >> all right we are starting off very well. so far on this monday fortunately we don't have any major incidents just yet. things change quite a bit. let's go outside and take a look at the 680 commute. 680 sunol grade that traffic moves along very nicely all the way into san jose from fremont. this mornings commute on interstate 880 in both directions is looking good. northbound traffic moves well all the way up to the mccarthur maze. if you are driving in san jose we talked about san jose 85, 280, 17 also doing very nicely.
