there are summer camps here with kids during the day and they were prepared to bring in more officers. deputies tell us 37-year-old scott foster, who is the son of a retired professor, was allegedly fighting with miss girlfriend, was arrested -- with his girlfriend, was arrested and managed to run away. deputies searched for four hours. he was finally tracked down close to campus. >> one of the officers standing at the poach recognized him and saw him and he was arrested with -- post recognized him and saw him and he was arrested. >> reporter: now, the chief here says they will be studying this incident to figure out how he managed to escape in the first place and to see what

says giving officers the options of stun guns would save lives, potentially. last night at the police commission meeting, he spoke to the commission and he got the green polite to research a pilot program that would allow crisis intervention officers to use those tasers in the field. the chief pointed to a deadly shooting just two weeks ago when an officer shot and killed a mentally ill man and suhr says that situation could have had a different outcome if police were able to use tasers. but the boy's family disagrees. >> i don't think it's right not -- i don't think it's not to -- i don't think it's not right -- not right to not accept responsibility for this.

just before 1:30 this morning, police were called to the home on the stanford campus for a report of domestic violence. deputies say 37-year-old scott foster, the son of a retired professor was allegedly fighting with miss girlfriend. now, he was arrested but police say he managed to escape from a police car and ran away in handcuffs. the deputies finally tracked him down after a four-hour search. he was caught later close to the campus. they say he surrendered without incident. now he faces several charges including domestic violence and evading the police. in overnight news, the chp investigating a deadly motorcycle crash that forced the westbound lanes of highway 24 to be shut down. the crash happened around 1:30 this morning, near orinda. the man was found in the fast lane on the road. the harley-davidson of his, it was at least 40 feet away in
