francisco police. live in san francisco, paul chambers, ktvu channel 2 news. prosecutors said the man accused of killing his girlfriend inside their home has killed before inside the same house. he pleaded not guilty to murder for the june 26 killing. prosecutors say he also killed his brother in the same house 26 years ago. death was ruled an accident at the time but now that it has been submitted as evidence investigators are taking another look at the case. prosecutors plan to charge a teen as an adult for shooting and stabbing his friend on monday. investigators say he attacked his friend after a long argument over a online gaming session gone out of control. the victim is expected to survive. he is being held on $2.5

million bail. parolee behind bars fall aoing a -- following a man hunt that began this morning when officers responded to a domestic violence report at a hotel. he was threatening his girlfriend. police ordered a shelter in place in the neighborhood while they searched for him. he was later found at a house and surrendered at 9:00 a.m. this morning. a retirement home was evacuated as police searched for a man with a gun. the manager says an employee saw an armed man walk inside the facility. the man was never found. a domestic violence suspect was arrested on the stanford campus after he escaped a patrol car. the suspect was first arrested 1:30 a.m.

this morning at a residence on campus. resderous were told to lock their -- residents were told to lock their doors and windows and he was later found. a wildfire began around 3:00 p.m. this afternoon at county road 88 and road 6. this video is showing the flames moving across the dry grass. the land is mostly agricultural. it burned 150 acres and growing. another wildfire near interstate 5, 16 miles north of redding. it started on the center strip of the highway yesterday afternoon and now grown to 500 acres. 100 homes have been evacuated. dozens of commercial buildings and other structures are at risk. this fire is only 20% contained. a ruptured gas line hit too

close to home for the san bruno neighborhood where a explosion happened two years ago. ktvu's david stevenson is live with the questions being raised about it. >> reporter: it happened across the street by that stop sign near the puddle. officials are now looking looking for answers. >> i could smell it but i didn't know what it was. >> reporter: he and his neighbors in san bruno were evacuated this morning. a construction crew ruptured a pipeline. a few feet away from a 2010 pipeline explosion that killed 8 people. >> think you might be reliving this. the neighborhood is still rebuilding from that explosion.

posted positive sales numbers today. gap announced its figures rose 10% over last year. beating expectations of 4% increase. and ross stores reported robust sales for july. same store sales grew 7% last month. they are projecting a profit of 81 cents a share on august 16. a organization is expanding by adding 100 new jobs. mozila is the creator of firefox. the foundation has signed a lease to expand its offices. new figures released today show applications for jobless benefits rose last week by 8,000 to 365,000. that is less than what was

predicted. the report for july is due tomorrow. san francisco teachers reached a deal with the district that includes more school days a year. they say the agreement includes 3.5 more school days. and calls for a decrease in furlough days. both sides agree to increase furlough days if the ballot measure fails. the school board is moving forward on a $260 million bond measure for november. the money would be list for a list of 45 projects. it would pay for a new element school, new classrooms at other schools and new security cameras. a national drug shortage means some things like pain medications are in short supply, the measures paramedics

the california supreme court upheld the death penalty for a man convicted of killing four people at his former high school in 1992. eric houston was convicted at opening fire at lindhurst high school when he was 20 years old. he held 80 students hostage for hours. yesterday they ruled he received a fair trial and there was overwhelming evidence he planned the killing. >> reporter: apple is accusing samsung of corrupting the jury. apple's attorney asked the judge to impose a penalty on samsung after they published material not allowed as evidence. samsung's attorney says they have a right to state their side publicly. recalling salad because of

national drug shortage. created by a perfect storm of r production. pain medications are in short supply. >> we have approval for a drug to replace. >> reporter: they have been scrambling for solutions so they look for different packaging but that isn't always good for paramedics. >> if you change the dosic on a day -- doses on a daily basis you increase your chance of errors. >> reporter: emergency crews are allowing different concentrations concentrations and substitution and they have discussed using expired drugs but say they haven't had to make changes yet. another measure, keeping a bear minimum on board.
