[ sirens ] police chased a stolen car suspect across the bay area overnight. the pursuit began in pittsburg, then to richmond and then here onto the bay bridge. watch carefully. you can see sparks flying from the suspect's car. its tires blew and it was

traveling on its rims. speeds had reached 100 miles an hour. the pursuit ended when the vehicle came to a stop on willow pass road on concord. the suspect taken into custody. oakland's police chief says he's ready make a bold move in his campaign against crime. the chief is renewing a call for a city-wide curfew. what kind of reaction are you hearing for this idea? >> reporter: well, people are skeptical. we're outside of the police department in downtown oakland. now, people we've talked to agree crime is a problem. they are just not sure that a curfew is part of the solution. the idea of a curfew, however, is apparently back. it first came back after the death of 3-year-old carlos nava in august of last year. former police chief anthony batts brought it up last year. but it kind of went away. chief howard jordan is telling

around 5:45. the man was taken to the hospital with nonlife- threatening injuries. no one else was hurt. three children insanta cruz county could face very serious animal cruelty charges. the children are under the able of 10. they are accused of abusing kittens. one of the keptens -- kittens was so badly injured, it had to be euthanized. the other ones had rope around their neck. now, a few of the children were identified. the monterey county weekly reports the results of a national study. researchers reportedly tested seafood and stores and restaurants. they found that 36% of the fish were mislabeled. rock pacific was mistaken by pacific red snapper.

today, b.a.r.t. will allow you to bring your bike to the -- through the commute. the crowns are too crowded at this time. this is a pilot program that's playing out for today and the next four days. some people say that bike blackout in place right now during rush hour discourages people from commuting on their bikes. and riders we talked to this morning said they hope this experiment goes well. >> i think it's great. actually, i've been coming in early just to get in early before the blackout. after the blackout, it's a little too late. gray, great. the goal would be to increase bicyclists ha use b.a.r.t. -- bicyclists who use b.a.r.t.

it started with a routine traffic stop and ended with two police officers hurt with a hit and run. janine de la vega has more. >> reporter: well, i just called police to find out what the condition of the officers were and i have not heard pack to see if they are gonna come back into work. we're told they are okay, but let me show you the scene here -- you know, we're told by neighbors that the police cars were parked here on the grass, and woe -- you can even -- and we, you can even see there were -- you can even see the gloves here left by the paramedics. now, here is a picture of the woman who pled officers on the chase. 42-year-old lisa hernandez. police say they were trying to do a routine traffic stop on story road yesterday span 5:30.
