claims form that has been circulating this community. ? about 10 minutes we're seeing an effect on gas prices following monday's fire. see how high prices have spiked and where chevron is cashing in. there were some major delays on b.a.r.t. this afternoon after a man was struck by a train at the lake merit b.a.r.t. station in oakland. the accident happened just before 3:00 as the fremont train was entering the station. it's not clear why or how the man got on the track when emergency responders pulled him out from under the train he says he was alert and cautious. train service was restored but there's still some system wide delays. san bruno assistants say they are ready to get back to work in an area where a gas pipeline blew up in 2010. they halted work one week ago after a backhoe hit pipe. work will start early next week to replace water and sewer

lines damaged or destroyed in the 2010 blast and fire. >> investigators are looking at two incidents that happened near by. there was deadly gunfire on 19th street and san pablo avenue near interstate i80. someone fired into a car, one person was killed and a second person was injured. a motive is not yet known. no arrests have been made in either case. san jose police are looking for the person who stabbed a man early this morning. leaving him with serious wounds. investigators say the attack took place in the area near mclaughlin avenue. police have not arrested anyone. the victim is expected to survive. oakland police are still searching for a man they believed kidnapped a young woman and her baby at gunpoint. 19-year-old marcus hernandez is accused of abducting a 17-year- old girlfriend and 2 -month-old daughter in oakland yesterday afternoon. the incident triggered an amber

alert and the hunt for the kidnapper and victim. the mother and baby were found safe later on at a friends's home. police believe he was heading to sacramento county. we now know the name of the man who was shot and killed by a vacaville police officer yesterday. police tell us the man is 57- year-old gustavo pedro moreno. moreno showed up at police headquarters there on merchant street displaying what officers called bizarre and irrational behavior. 20 minutes later police say moreno threatened an officer with a knife until the parking lot and that's when the officer shot him. moreno later died at the hospital. with california experiencing some of the hottest weather of the year, the state power agency has called a flex alert. only on two, ktvu's health and science editor john fowler found one neighborhood that's been suffering in this heat,

this was day two of a hiring bliss by target in san francisco. and the word has definitely gotten out that that company is hiring. this was the scene today oud the metrion huge crowds of people waited for the chance of getting more than 300 target team member positions. eventually they were let inside for a one on one interview. one man says he waited in line for three hours. >> there's like thousands and thousands of people lined up for the past three days. >> reporter: target will be interviewing applicants for the store again tomorrow. nasa today solved the mystery of the plume of dust seen in photos taken by the mars rover curiosity. these images right here sent internet blogs buzzing. a plume of dust kicked up in the distance shortly after the rover landed. then disappeared. but a nasa engineer said today the rover's camera simply caught the rocket stage

prevention products. police say they recovered most of the stolen merchandise at his home. new security cameras will be keeping an eye on those campuses. this week crews are installing the cameras at novato and san marin high school. the schools hope to deter thefts and vandalism. both schools have seen graffiti and broken windows. a passenger jet clipped the tail of a small commuter plane this week at dalus international airport outside of washington, d.c. the a330 was getting ready to take off when its wing hit the tail of a united express plane arriving from pittsburgh. no one was injured. the wings had minor damage. at least three people were injured today when a small plane went down in corona.

coming into pacifica, half-moon bay and san francisco. that fog moving into golden gate park. winds gusting to 28 miles per hour at the golden gate bridge. that is that on shore breeze that will help import some of the fog a little bit locally as we head into the overnight hours. temperatures for today it wasn't heat for the entire bay area but where that heat was you probably felt it. triple digits here but head out to the west you can see temperatures cooling off mainly in the upper 50s to right around 60-degree. downtown san francisco, 64 and san jose between we will just call it nice in the mid-80s at 85. for tonight we do have this, clear skies some mild conditions expect where you have the fog at the coast. this weekend some hot numbers inland but we'll begin to cool things off for sunday. and we'll be talking about excessive temperatures for next week. you get that sinking air that heats things up. near 100 inland as we do take
