parents concerns and has decided to move the teacher out of sherman and place had her in a nonclassroom support position. back to you. oakland police today reported a recent rash of sexual assault in the city's fruitvale neighborhood. authorities say the suspects generally approach women to rob them. if the victims don't come up with money, they're sexually assaulted. >> they're targeting latino women because they know they often times will not report because of language, immigration, just how comfortable they feel reporting to the police department. >> the victims range in age from 18 to 54. police say the suspects maybe working working in teams. many of the crimes are going unreported. police are encouraging women who have been attacked to come forward. police in palo alto today released sketches maven who they say is sexually assaulting and grepping women.

at her next court appearance. the investigation involving a body found inside a trash can in pleasanton is taking a new turn. police say a woman resembling this sketch was found dead may 24th in the dublin canyon area of pleasanton. investigators say she was most likely asian or lat teen arks 18 to 40 years old. pleasanton police are now working with the f.b.i. and the department of justice to identify the body. there are also reports america's most wanted may feature the case on the show. two san quentin corrections officers were injured today when prison officials say a death row inmate taked them with an improvised weapon. it happened this morning when authorities say the corrections officers were escorting inmate joseph mcgee from the shower back to his cell. the two officers suffered cuts to their heads, necks and arms. they were both taken to a hospital where they are expected to recover. an investigation into the attack is now underway. in martinez police are

searching for a couple who are accused of beating and stabbing a 20-year-old woman in a home over the weekend. police say 42-year-old jacob herman and his 30-year-old wife jackie both have criminal histories and should be considered armed and dangerous. the victim was taken to the hospital with stab wounds and trauma to her face but has been released. police say the couple and the victim were family friends. there is no word at this point on what led to the attack. a firefighter collapsed today while fighting a three- alarm fire at a san jose church. it broke out this morning at st. patrick proto-cathedral parish on east santa clara street. a firefighter went into cardiac arrest just feet from the fire truck. he was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. officials believe it started near the at are a. also in san jose, three businesses were damaged there'll morning when flames erupted at a strip mall.

village. you can read the risk assessment report on ktvu.com. there was little change in the jobless numbers last week. a new labor department report shows the number of jobless americans seeking benefit was essentially flat at about 374,000. analysts say the new numbers indicate that the august jobs report will probably show about 100,000 jobs were added which is not enough to make any significant change in the unemployment numbers. the state assembly today passed a new bill aimed at ending discrimination against unemployed job seekers. the proposed legislation would prohibit employers from saying in job post things they will only consider applicants who are already employed. the bill is now on the give's desk. mountain view based linked in is expanding again. the professional network be website signed a lease for a new location in sunnyvale. the company will build office space at 555 north matilda avenue to accommodate 3,000 employees.

it happened in palo alto around 1:30 p.m. today at hawthorne avenue and waverly street during a traffic stop. the man ran forcing police to lockdown the neighborhood. police say he may have tried to carjack a resident to escape. that was unsuccessful. police set up a perimeter and were able to arrest that man. a reminder for drivers who use the dumbarton bridge, you will have to find an alternate route during this weekend's closure. it will shut down tomorrow night at 10:00. it will reopen until tuesday at 5:00 pam. the closest alternate bridge is the san mateo bridge to the north. the closure will allow crews to feign key retrofit project. the california lotto is searching for man who may have won $52 million. this is the mystery man who purchase add megamillions particular at the time quick stop on walnut avenue in fremont. the holler of that winning ticket has checked it multiple

the results of last year's star testing for california students are expected tomorrow. the head of california schools says he's op mystic. >> we've been pleased that over the last eight years those scores have been going up. so students are learning more, they're more focused, and the results show that. we're hoping that trend continues. >> students in second through eleventh grades take the star tests on proficiency in math, english and other subjects. mark joins us now.
