franzen with contra costa county chp, letting us know that an officer has been shot, as well as the suspect. details still sketchy at this point, but the investigation ongoing. definitely traffic in this area, you can see he was mentioning that both sides of the freeway have been shut down there through the walnut creek area on into alamo. so definitely avoid this area. ktvu does have a crew on the way to the scene and we'll have updates on our website and cut-ins here on ktvu, as we get more information. ked out for a minute. he comes to. the driver at one point stands up. he moans. the females, surprisingly, as much as they took, the older lady is actually a mother and a daughter. the mother takes a face full of water from the side of the boat. the daughter takes the whole dash with her face. they walked away. when the video progresses, you start to see the bruising and some blood. >> tell us exactly who all these people are. is this an entire family, or

family and friends? >> the web published it as all family. really, it was a couple from florida. everybody else, i believe, was from memphis, tennessee. none of them were related except for the two ladies in front. they were a mother and a daughter. >> so what happened to the guy that was driving this boat? >> as you can see min the video he goes head first into the floor. the girls kind of smash into him. he had a c-7 compression in his neck. four of the seven people went to the hospital. the driver was flown to a bigger hospital. >> were these guys going too fast? >> there is no speed limit on the lake during the day. the driver, from my understanding, someone said he'd raced for ten years. it's one of those things where anything can happen at any moment. i'm surprised no one had life jackets on. it's not against the law to not have them on. it's just a reminder to always be safe. >> why did you have a camera crew on this boat to begin with? >> it was part of an event. we had camera guys in numerous boats that weekend. the day was great. you know, out of the hundreds and thousands of boats that ran that weekend, this was the one

boat that just hit the wrong wave at the wrong time. we happened to have it on film. it's just one of those things that you hear about them, but you never really see them from the inside view. we happened to capture it. it kind of went viral. if you guys bought a lottery ticket and the lottery at the time was $52 million, you'd probably double, triple, quadruple check to see if maybe you won. >> uh-huh. >> big time. >> you want to be sure. >> that's kind of what happened a few weeks ago in california during the megamillions jackpot, which was $52 million. someone did buy the winning ticket, but they didn't claim it for a month. >> what? >> were they worried about people trying to come after them and steal the winning ticket? >> it's not entirely clear. but it sounds like they were just unaware they had won. well, the california lotto released these surveillance

videos that they had of the winner of this jackpot. of course, his face was appearing in different places. ktvu, our partner in the bay area, was doing a story about this, and right in the middle of their shoot they got the call that they had found the winner. >> while we've been talking to you, someone claimed the ticket. >> somebody just claimed the ticket. >> parents of three. apparently he found out they won because he was checking a website and saw his photo from the surveillance video. >> then i saw the picture. i said, i think we're wanted. >> when you see yourself on surveillance video on a website, usually that's like a thing. usually that means you're wanted for theft or robbery or something worse, not because they're trying to find you because you're owed millions of dollars. >> he had been unemployed for a year. can you imagine? to go from unemployed to millionaire. >> multimillionaire. >> yeah.

when it comes to russia, we usually see a lot of videos of cars and trucks doing all sorts of weir and crazy or interesting things. but i've got two videos here with planes, aircraft, doing some crazy, cool, and interesting things. first up, see two planes near this river in siberia, russia, flying pretty close to one another with all these people around. >> no way. >> now, you think, are they going in for a water landing? what the heck are these things doing? they hit the water. they keep going, and they take back off. these planes are actually collecting water to help extinguish forest fires in the area. there's a lot of wildfires in the region. report from a russian news source said 494 acres of woods were on fire in siberia. we actually found a video that

flotation device because it couldn't reach the bottom. so they had to call the humane society and fire department to come get this guy out. they brainstormed, got a 16-foot piece of plywood and hammered some pieces of wood on it to create a makeshift ramp so this deer could get out. this poor little guy was terrified. probably fell in by accident. it was so dark he had no idea there was a swimming hole there. ended up being completely stuck. now he's getting his little antlers yanked on. >> they're using that rope to coach him to use that ramp to get out of there. >> at this point they're saying he's just resting because they cannot coax him out. they at least have him on the board. he stays on there for at least nine minutes while they're trying to coax him out. >> it's times like this where you wish somebody learned how to speak deer in college. >> please get out of the pool. >> he's not walking, so they coax him a little with a little
