gunfire was coming from this home. they found a man and woman dead. there was also a 2.5-year-old boy at this house she believes. police saw two people running from this crime scene moments after the shot was fired. i talked to an investigator. the motive for this double murder remains unclear. but a close friend of one of the victims was here at the scene and told us about the man that was murdered here. >> i love him to death. my kids loved him. she was a good person. as far as we know and i don't know what happened. i will grieve for the family. that's all i can say. >> reporter: now relatives do tell us again a 2.5-year-old boy was apparently inside this house they believe at the time the killings took place. but apparently that boy unhurt according to relatives. as we come back out here live this is a very active crime

scene. a tow truck is towing away a car from this house. this is the second car belonging to the victim. the bodies are still inside the house and they expect to be out here for several more hours this morning. live this morning in vallejo alex savidge ktvu channel 2 news. oakland police are searching for the killers that stalked and shot a man. a police source told us the victim was a drug dealer that drove home about 11:00 last night. two armed men chased him inside his home and demanded drugs and money. they ended up shooting the man in the back when he tried to run out the front door. there is a search under way for two children who police say were abducted by their father and take on a stolen boat. three-year-old brooklyn and devon were last seen at their home on wednesday.

police say they were taken by their father 43-year-old christopher mafia -- maffei. that is where he is accused of stealing a 40-foot boat. the boat is called unleashed. the picture there was spotted near vallejo on wednesday. he expressed interest sailing to monterey or new mexico. the chp has created two memorial funds supporting the family of fallen officer kenya young strum. mourners include the lives of chp officers. >> our deepest condolences are with them. the parents of the gunman went from oregon to the bay area yesterday to meet with

good morning. there is some fog. mainly up toward northern marin county. only patchy or hardly anything elsewhere. yosemite national park is on high alert after a third visitor has died of the hantavirus. the person was visiting from west virginia and had stayed in a tent cabin in mid june. the number of confirmed hantavirus cases stands at eight. the park is warning as many as 22,000 people may have been exposed. hantavirus is constructed through exposure through the droppings of deer mice. they are burning out of williams. the size of the area burned has doubled in size since wednesday. the fires have burned nearly 10,000 acres and only 10% contained. indian reservation has been

evacuated. people are staying at a nearby hotel. the biggest concern for fire crews today is that the flames could move over a ridge and closer to homes. >> we are hoping to keep this fire south of highway 20 so it does not continue to go on the other side. >> the biggest challenge for firefighters is the steep terrain and the cause is still under investigation. time is 4:43 cadaver dogs are being brought in to look for a man missing over the sacramento river. he was last seen at a spot called beer can beach on sunday during a weekend float down the river. a $5,000 reward is being offered for olson's safe return. it's a guilty verdict for the former illinois police officer drew peterson who is accused of murdering his third wife. the jury announced their decision yesterday. he faces a maximum of 60 years in prison for the 2004 murder

attempt. san francisco's district attorney says there is not enough evidence to file criminal charges in a money laundering case. the property management firm was accused of laundering $4500 in contributions to mayor ed lee's election campaign. a donor showed the san francisco chronicle an e-mail from an arch way manager that told workers to hawk $500 donations and said they world be reimbursed. we have new information this morning surrounding the problems with the oakland police radio system. during the past year, radios have failed on several occasions with one of the most notable blackouts happening during president obama's visit in july. according to a letter from at & t an independent company was hired to test the 16 cell sites in question and found their towers did not cause any interference. only one tower was not operating within fcc guidelines. that tower in hayward which at & t says is too far away to

cause any blackouts. people living in oakland's diamond district met with police to talk about concern of crime in their neighborhood. one thing that was brought up was response time. last week a woman was robbed and pistol whipped in her own garage. neighbors say it took police up to 30 minutes to respond despite several calls to 911. >> i've been living in a semi state of fear over some of the other incidents that have happened. and i just want to say how unsafe i have felt. >> police say they could not discuss specifics habit case but neighbors gave a good description of the suspects car and following leads. oakland police are also placing more officers in the area where they have seen a spike in crime. there is a new sign the tech industry is in another hiring boom.
