lorraine blanco is there where -- lorraine blanco is there where two people had to jump to safety, pam? one earn was transported and firefighters are still putting out hot spots in that second story apartment. it was fully engulfed just before 3:00 a.m. they called a second alarm when they heard people were trapped inside. they had to jump out of a second story window to escape the flames and neighbors had to help a disabled man to safety. >> they didn't come out the front door, that is when i knew it was an emergency. it was an emergency but i don't let that affect me. >> i helped him up to bed and put him in his wheelchair, which is when omar said get out

were placed in shanksville pennsylvania where the plane crashed and you can see that at the bottom of the memorial. they represent the 40 passengers and crew members who died on that flight on september 11th, 11 years ago. it was original bound for san francisco vice-president joseph biden will be speaking there at the shangri-la -- shanksville pennsylvania memorial. allie rasmus is live in fremont to tell us how the south bay is marking this day, allie? we are at the veterans memorial in fremont and you can see there is a group of about 35 to 40 people taking part in a can tell light vigil, they are laying roses and this is laid out for blue star moms and the group is having a short

prayer service and everyone went through with theiree experiences and emotions. along with honoring the people, people are paying tribute to the thousands of men and women who died in iraq and afghanistan. this is the second year in a row they have organized the memorial here in fremont and an organizer told me over the phone, she said she wanted to have a simple event for people to attend on 9/11 before they got into work. it is supposed to last 45 minutes and the candle light vigil is about to wrap up. they are laying 24 yellow roses at the veteran's memorial in fremont. ktvu channel 2 morning news. in the years, security has

been tightened nationwide and much more work needs to be done. we will get more as we take you live to our washington d.c. bureau. all lanes are up. just after 10:00 last night, it was left on the on ramp in east oakland. witnesses say they saw the bike and rider in the road and they stopped their cars to block the scene until police arrived. unfortunately the man in his 60s died of his injuries and police are investigating what caused the bike to crash and if alcohol was involved. police are investigating an attempted abduction. they are live where a 15-year- old girl said a man grabbed her

and tried to force her into his car. >> reporter: in response to that attempted kidnapping, police will be out in force later this morning near schools. extra officers will be there during the hours kids walk to and from class. it was the last week when a stranger offered her a ride near her house. he then grabbed her but she was able to fight him off. there was a warning issues while she was walking her dog last thursday. the man is described as african- american, he had chest lengths dreadlocks, driving a black older model sedan. they are not saying which areas they are focusing on. alex savage ktvu channel 2 morning news. sal is watching everything,

rememberance for 9/11, 11 years ago today, certainly the new york stock exchange and the people around wall street were affected quite severely and the markets were closed for just about a week after 9/11. there are a number of organizations there hoping to -- there is one observance and nationwide good deeds to take this day to make it a more positive experience. >> and with that we will smile on channel 2 morning news, it is tuesday september 11th. developing news, one person was hurt in an early morning apartment fire. lorraine tell us about the drastic actions some people did to try to get away from those flames, lorraine?

they had to jump out of a second story window and right now it seems they are on the scene and we were just told there is a small water-main break on the other side of this complex. firefighters are not sure whether it is related to the fire and we will know more when we have more. now the american red cross is on its way with shelter and food. there are three apartments evacuated and well, you can't see the other firefighters who are on the other side where the fire started. it was fully engulfed just before 3:00 a.m. and they called a second alarm when they heard people were trapped inside. they had to jump out of a second-story window and neighbors had to help a disabled man to safety. because the apartments are so close together and share an attic space it can be a

flight 93 was in shanksville, of course a flight bound for san francisco. we are looking at washington d.c. at the pentagon and president barack obama as well as first lady michelle obama and leon panetta participated in a wreathe laying ceremony and ceremonies continue at the world trade center site and a memorial there. now again, we are also thinking about the people with the san francisco plane where the shanksville plane with those who fought back and there were lat turns left there. now the san francisco fire department is getting ready to honor victims with a special ceremony in just about 40 minutes. tara moriarty has more on what they are doing in san francisco to remember the lives lost in

9/11. well garage doors just went up and everybody is ready and the fire truck will be pulled up shortly and folks are gearing up near 19th and folsom and they will put the flag at half-time. the lights were up this morning and before 7:00 this morning all 43 firehouses will hold ceremonies to remember the firefighters who lost their lives on 9/11. if you would like to observe and honor the fallen in new york city and flight 93 the public is welcome at local fire stations. >> it will be somber and humbling. it is a tradition in san francisco where we read all the names of those who died and we read them all in the morning.

of tense emotions in vallejo. last night, you can see many people were angry and they showed up to speak up about 5 deadly officers involved shootings happened police shot him and now he was not there to address the shootings and he is talking about the possibility of creating a citizen review board. >> we cannot afford to let this meeting get dismissed please let her speak. when we get outside we can say what we want. >> a vallejo city council member said members on the committee do not have the jurisdiction to make decisions on what the crowd is talking about, however she invited them to attend tonight's city

council meeting to express her views then. and the ethics commission will finalize the report about suspended sheriff ross mirkarimi. last week they recommended removing the sheriff from office after his no contest plea which stemmed from a domestic violence incident. they will make the decision on whether ornot he can keep his job but he asked them to delay the decision until after november elections. time to talk football in the oakland raiders, they were hurt as they opened season yesterday. oakland hosted the chargers on monday night football. phillip rivers passed for 231 yards and that touchdown to malacoma floyd and raiders messed up three punt after john condo ended up leaving the game with an injury. they did have a touchdown and had a two point touchdown but

san diego won the game, 22-14. we want to go back over to sal, what are you keeping an eye on, sal? >> well, it is getting more crowded, it is backed up beyond 880, almost out to the maze no problems getting to san francisco. there is a little bit of fog on the high-rise and it may affect flights coming to and from san francisco. you should check with the carriers especially later on this morning. and if you are driving southbound, san jose avenue, it is clearing up a crash that put some people out of power, a car ran into a power pole so please give yourself extra time, 6:49, let's go to steve. and it is moving passed the marin coast and let's see if it

makes it to the marin coast and although it is not making a sweeping move, it will be cooler, out of the west northwest if you are stuck in the fog. it is heart to see the low over us and even though it is week it picks up and overnight lows are definitely getting cooler for the overnight hours and daylight is decreasing rapidly. also tomorrow, low clouds are increasing and there is just a little cool down, 2 to 4 compared to yesterday and it looks like it will warm up and there is just a rollercoaster ride. next week we might get our first offshore breeze and we'll see if that continues to develop. big systems continue to develop and there are cold readings in the middle of canada.

a little cold, breezy at times, high pressure will be back, 60s and 70s to near 90s for some. inland temperatures down a couple and 80 today, livermore was 90, we will go 97, and 66 in the city, cooler weather into wednesday, more likely friday into saturday and we keep up the north winds saturday into monday. what caused all of this, thousands of dollars in damage. and some californians are putting up a stink because of the odor that is drifting for miles, we will have more on where it may have come from. underground graffiti show which was held on 4th street. the owner invited the graffiti artist to the show before the building was renovated but the doors closed before midnight and some people did not get inside so they got angry and started tagging other businesses. he has contacted businesses and told them he will pay to have that graffiti removed. dave, pam, westbound is backed up over the 880 crossing and also the morning commute in san jose continues to be slow. northbound 101 near 280 getting to sunny veil, let's go back to steve. making it up the coast, a little above us helping to enhance that, look for fog, sun, temperature inland more into the upper 80s or mid-80s and 60s and 70s coast and bay.
