inside her home. ktvu's lorraine blanco is live where she spoke to the victim's family today. >> reporter: ktvu spoke with susie ko's son. he didn't have anything bad to say about the person's of interest. police say the couple are persons of interest in the susie ko murder ecase. seattle police -- case. seattle police arrested them for possession of a stolen vehicle. on friday they found her stabbed to death in her home and her car was found missing. >> for the first time we have been working non-stop as a family and with the police and this is the first deep breath we took as a family and as a community. >> we have been working so hard, would want to give the

family some peace. >> reporter: police believe they were involved in a crime spree that started in august when the wife helped the husband break out of jail in san bernardino county. he got into a is out out in los angeles county. the suspect shot and wounded a deputy and then they carjacked a vehicle and got away. they now face charges here in southern california and in seattle. live, lorraine blanco, ktvu channel 2 news. a explosion and fire at a home sent one woman to the hospital today. this is cell phone video by neighbors. 40 firefighters attacked the fire. four people were at home at the time of the explosion. one woman was taken to the hospital with burns. the other three residents escaped. investigators are trying to figure out what caused the

explosion. embattled san francisco sheriff ross mirkarimi is back on the job tonight after a fight against ethic charges. ktvu's david stevenson is live where his return could be tricky. >> reporter: mayor ed lee had harsh words today as the sheriff moved to transition back into his job. >> reporter: ross mirkarimi said he was ready to reconcile with the city departments. >> it is a new day. we want to move forward, mend fences. >> reporter: mayor ed lee suspended him. the votes of four supervisors enabled ross mirkarimi to regain the job. >> i believe that they sought out an excuse for an inexcusable act that was confirmed by the criminal courts. >> reporter: mayor ed lee said

there are hard feelings between his office and ross mirkarimi. >> this city requires us to work together. i will continue doing that. >> i look forward to working with the mayor, and the district attorney. >> reporter: ross mirkarimi says his experience over the last 9 months will make him a more effective sheriff for everyone. >> i want to reach out and plan to in a direct and personal way with any of the leaders of the domestic violence community and anyone else who has doubt. >> reporter: ross mirkarimi will meet with the interim sheriff on transitioning into the job. reporting live in san francisco, david stevenson, ktvu channel 2 news. >> if the district attorney has his way ross mirkarimi will have some of his dutying taking -- duties taken away from him.

early as next week. cara liu, ktvu channel 2 news. concerned neighbors are getting together in 20 minutes to talk about crime in their area. the neighborhood association has asked police to discuss a spike in auto and home burglaries and how to prevent future crimes. it starts at 6:30 p.m. tonight. officials in the south bay canvassed a neighborhood looking for information about a serial arsonist. investigators handed out flyers near the scene of the latest fire. the fires have been set in trash bins and spread. officials are concerned things could get worse. >> usually it starts off small and we found that people start smaller fires and then they graduate to bigger fires. >> the arsonist is blamed for
