me he's innocent of all charges. he agreed not to practice medicine while legal proceedings are going on. re-hurricanes to court november 20th. lawyers in oregon today released more of the boy scouts so called perversion files from the 1960s, '70s, and '80s. more than a thousand scout masters were banned because of allegations of sexual assault or inappropriate contact with boys. the files were obtained as part of a lawsuit. a jury ended up awarding the man $20 million. several reports of a gunman at holy name college. hundreds were evacuated this morning. about 200 students and staffs left and gathered in the gymnasium while police searched

the campus. by 2:00 the campus was reopened. the gunman is described as a heavy set white man with short brown hair. wearing a blue blazer and glasses. 24-year-old marc anthony moreman has been arrested in arrested. furlin is being held at san mateo county jail. it's the first killing in pacifica since 2000. authorities are searching for more clues after a woman's body was found inside a burning home. ktvu was first to bring you the story this morning when a small home. any time you have an accelerant with a body you have a suspicious circumstance. that's not to say that a person

can't commit suicide using an accelerant. it's happened in the past. >> reporter: investigators say no obvious signs of trauma to the woman's body. air quality officials plan to beef up response to disasters. yesterday they approved a plan to accurately measure toxic air pollution from industrial disasters. the move will help the agency be more prepared in the future. giants fans are rallying tonight, hoping that the san francisco giants can tie up the series against the st. louis cardinals. and we have a live report from st. louis. one of the interesting pregame traditions at bush stadium. and who will be -- throwing out the first pitch. >> people are streaming in. lots of red and not much orange. the game is about an hour away.

it was 7:44 last night and the fire ball lasted about 10 seconds. the american meteor society tracked more than 150 sightings. the meteor hit the earth. based on that triangulation, it's entirely possible the meteor came down somewhere near here, just outside martinez. there's a lot of territory and possibly a treasure waiting to be discovered. >> i would like to find it but i don't want to look for it, you know what i mean. >> reporter: rancher -- may have been the closest. >> maybe 500 feet when it went over here. somewhere between here and highway 4. i know it's in there somewhere. >> reporter: we scoured the area from chopper 2 and saw nothing unusual. >> the debris trail could be 10 to 15 miles long. >> reporter: a big chunk could be worth tens of thousands of

dollars. one day after san francisco marked the 23rd anniversary of the deadly earthquake, it has a director of earthquake safety. building permit consultant was appointed. he'll be spokeswoman for putting together a 30 year plan to reduce the city's most dangerous earthquake risks. millions dropped, covered, and held on to help prepare for the next big earthquake. the great california shakeout earthquake drill happened at 10:18 this morning. san francisco's mayor and fire and police chiefs were with children at this elementary school. they all ducked during the drill. >> in case anything happens, you have to have some preparation. you have to be ready for things. and that's why we do these drills. we want to practice, practice, and practice. >> reporter: more than 9 million people around our state participated in this drill. you can find more earthquake

the decision upholds a lower court judge who ruled the 1996 law violates equal protection. experts say the ruling is considered largely symbolic because the issue is expected to be taken up by the u.s. supreme court. thousands are supporting a bay area boy scout in his push to get his eagle scout ranking. he was denied the honor because he's gay. the teen and his family are not taking no for an answer. >> reporter: he's fighting back. in the past half hour. the teenager and his family presented the boy scout council with an online petition signed by 400,000 people nationwide. it demands the boy scouts of america grant him his rank as eagle scout that he earned. they denied him the offer and kicked him out of the boy scouts because he's gay.

the seahawks. the security precautions being taken because of what happened last week. >> reporter: most people feel safe coming to candlestick park. but in light of the violence that happened here last week, some fans are wondering what precautions san francisco police are taking. perhaps the most infamous brawl happened at last year's preseason game between the 49ers and the raiders. it caused the cancellation of the battle of the bay for the future. this video shows a fight in the parking lot after the 49ers, giants game. two men were arrested for stabbing another man outside the stadium. it was added police presence that led to an arrest. >> because of that presence it was reported and the persons involved were caught and they'll be held accountable for it. >> reporter: reports are that the man stabbed was wearing a dallas cowboys team jersey

center plaza and it's stirring up criticism. competition began today. it's taking place on a pile of dirt in front of city hall. parks and rec is expected to make nearly $300,000 from the event. however, supervisor john avila dislikes the idea of mountain dew as a sponsor. >> are we undermining our standards by having a sponsor that's a national soft drink company. >> reporter: the event is free and runs through saturday. fire investigators believe dry conditions helped spark a grass fire that threatened several homes. it was one of two yesterday afternoon in the county. about an hour later flames broke out in another area. no one was hurt and no homes

were damaged. firefighters are carrying out a ground fire against a wildfire 10 miles north of santa barbara. the lookout fire burned through 44 acres in the loss padre national forest. it briefly threatens 100 homes yesterday. fire crews expect full containment by tomorrow evening. cooler, moister air is returning to the bay area. we'll begin filtering in later this evening and we'll feel it by tomorrow. in st. louis at this time, game time with the giants at 5:00, you can see scattered showers there in the forecast. st.louis catching just the tail end of this system. so a few scattered showers will be a possibility. but nothing like what we saw for wednesday's game. cloudy conditions, cool conditions, breezy conditions, with just a few scattered

showers at times. meanwhile here at home, the heat is on once again. 87degrees in antioch. 87 in livermore. 89 fairfield. and san francisco, 84 degrees. mid-80s redwood city. and 80s along the coast with mostly sunny skies. today will be the last day we see and feel this much heat. we have a cooling trend on the way and a major change coming, eventually bringing the chance for rain. temperatures will drop five to 15 degrees by tomorrow. and then into the weekend we continue to watch that gradual cooling trend. by sunday, upper 60s, low 70s in the forecast for the second half of the weekend. overnight lows as we start tomorrow morning, 57 in oakland. 55 in free month. patchy fog expected. the on shore breeze will begin this evening. already beginning to see signs along the coastline. and then for the afternoon,

owned by paul allen is docked in richmond. he's the cofounder of microsoft. his boat is called octopus and cost an estimated $200 million. it has two helicopters, a submarine, and a crew of 60. a port spokeswoman says the octopus is expected to dock in richmond for five weeks. we're waiting for game four of the national league championship series to start in just minutes. and the giants have shaken up the lineup a little bit to generate offense. we have the details in a live report from st. louis coming up. ?ó???óóñ
