6:01 am
can you scare up sunshine? >> absolutely. we're working on that. yesterday we had to deal with a little bit more in the way of low clouds and rain. not today. skies are clear. the morning is definitely colder but the afternoon will also be warmer with 60s and mid 70s. here is sal. good morning. highway 4 looks pretty good here so far. it's crowded for sure. you can see in bay point the traffic plenty of room coming over the hill. and this mornings commute also looks good on the san mateo bridge. 6:01 let's go back to the desk. >> we have developing news of a shooting that happened in san francisco south of market neighborhood. tara moriarty is live now with information on the condition of the shooting victim and tara, you say there may be a connection to another exchange of gunfire in that area? >> reporter: that is right. that just happened only two days ago. so police are trying to put the puzzle pieces the pieces of the puzzle together right now. we're standing in front of police headquarters where we understand two witnesses to the shooting were brought in for
6:02 am
questioning. we don't have all of the details about how exactly this shooting unfolded but what we do know is around quartzer to 2:00 this morning gunfire erupted in the area south of market street on sixth and stevenson. police believe there was a shootout between at least two people. we don't know how many casing were found on the ground but two different types of them were discovered at the scene. one matching bullet found in the victims body. the other matching the ones found in the victims pockets. now that victim was driven to san francisco general hospital by a friend at the scene and we understand he has under gone surgery and listed in critical condition. police say he was shot in the face and twice in the side. now the friend pulled right into the emergency drop off area where the car remained for more than two hours and then police have that vehicle towed for evidence and that is because again doctors found bullets in the victims pocket so they are investigating whether he was one of the shooters this morning.
6:03 am
now at this point we don't have a motive for the shooting but we have learned the suspect drove off in a teal colored ford explorer. and again, they are investigating whether this could be connected to another shooting where the same type of bullet casing was found less than half a block away from the scene this morning. so we will keep you posted on that. if you have any information regarding the suspect vehicle or anything about the shooting you're urged to contact san francisco police. live from the hall of justice i'm tara moriarty ktvu channel 2 news. time now 6:03. in a couple hours from right now, the alameda county sheriff may tell us more about the man arrested for the brutal murder of a castro valley woman last week. the body of 58-year-old barbara was found in her san carlos home last week. she was brutally beaten, she was robbed, then her house was set on fire. now she lived with her boyfriend a retired san francisco firefighter. he is not considered a suspect.

6:06 am
last year. there is still remanence of what happened last night. in terms of the numbers we talked to occupy oakland protestors that say the numbers are relatively low because the economy is getting better and occupy oakland is actually working. live here oakland i'm brian flores. >> scott olson took part in last nights march. he is the person that suffered a severe brain injury during a protest last year and says he was hit by a bean bag fired by police. olson was if a wheelchair and wore a safety helmet. he says he still has trouble with his speech but wanted to join in the protest he says to hold police accountable for their actions. time is now 6:06. the giants won again last night. they will be leaving for detroit in a few hours for more of the world series. ktvu claudine wong is joining us live she is at at & t park again where the team will be coming together in a little while. claudine. >> reporter: we do expect the players here in a couple hours. right now we want to take you back into the ballpark.
