. complete bay area news coverage starts right now. this is ktvu channel 2news at noon. >> he looked at his father and said we killed someone. >> new and chilling information just released about the arrest of two suspects in the killing of an east bay woman. one suspect is only 16. good afternoon. we have just learned disturbing new information about the homicide in castro valley last week. sheriff's office has announced details on arrest in the case of a woman's body found in a burning home. new, brian flores. they revealed chilling facts about this case. >> reporter: yeah.

you are right. good afternoon to you. the sheriff's department held a press conference not to long ago announcing the arrest of an 18-year-old man and a 16-year- old boy who has a -- a -- a distant relative of the victim. this is the booking photograph of the 18-year-old. he and the 16-year-old were arrested on thursday in connection to the death of a woman. she was at home the afternoon on october 18th when the two teens entered the home, killed her and took guns that belonged to a retired firefighter. investigators say that the 16- year-old is also a very distant relative of the victim. >> he jumped out and grabbed her, from behind, put her in a strangle hold and strangled her to where she fell on the ground. >> reporter: in terms of motive investigators say it was to rob the house to get the guns and

money and eventually sell them and when they returned home later that night around midnight they came back later and burned the house. >> this woman is in her own home. she is -- violated by a person she knows, she trusts. these two men, young men, commit an absolutely horrible act to murder her and then to return hours later to set her body on fire. it's just horrible. >> reporter: and both were roommates as well. we are learned they have been living together for four moss. we understand that both are being charged formated and that the 16-year-old is suspected to be charged as an adult. their court appearances are scheduled for monday. >> all right. thank you. this morning a 27-year-old was shot and killed while standing in fronts of his house waiting for a ride to work.

police received reports of gun shots on vernon street. neighbors reported hearing up to ten gun shots. the victim's father said he can't understand how this happened. >> somebody had to be following him, to be out this time of morning while he going to work. >> the father said his son's name is vincent jones junior and that he was living in a halfway house. he said his son was waiting for a ride to his job at goodwill. as promised next week the oakland police department could get some much needed help from the state. the highway patrol plans to send some officers to oakland to patrol high crime areas. the details are still being worked out. yesterday's chp a announcement just a few hours after the governor confirmed right here

planned for this winter. his family said he has kept his sense of humor. an occupy protest was mostly peaceful last night. hundreds gathered to mark a year since they were evicted from the plaza. the march followed a day of rallies and speeches there. were two arrests including one person accused of throwing a rock at officers. unlike past demonstrations though there were no signs of vandalism. businesses that are braced for the worst removed boards from their windows. > we have developing news out of san francisco where a driver had a close call in the grocery store parking ott. we shot these pictures over the safeway on marina boulevard. a man drove his jag over the parking bumper and hit a line of shopping carts. the car stopped short of the

country but someone saw him twice this week in gilroy and called police. san francisco police investigating a shooting in the south of market area that left one man critically injured. it happened around 1:45 a.m. on 6th and stevenson street. police believe there was a shoot out between two people. one man was shot in the face and in the stomach. his friend drove him to the hospital where he is said to be in critical condition. emergency crews also found bullets in the victim's pockets so police are looking into if he was one of the shooters. police are asking the public's help in finding a busy social bank robber operating in the south bay. a good photograph may be the key to breaking the case. >> reporter: take a good look at this man. this photograph was taken from surveillance video inside a bank of america last week. police say he is in his mid-30s and is a round 5'9''. they say he is responsible for

robbing six banks in the south bay over the past two months. >> it's pretty low key. walks up to the counter, presents a demand note and is able to many times leave the bank without other people know what was happening. >> reporter: detectives don't know if he left the banks on foot or in a car. they say he has hit two in campbell, two in sunnyvale, one in loss gatos and one in san jose. he is doing them between one and five in the afternoon. >> so far in the six robberies there hasn'tn 't violence but obviously it's a very serious crime and we have concerns about his escalating. that's why we are putting it out. >> police are working with law enforcement in the three other cities as well as the fbi to track down leads. this thea bank that was targeted there is a sign offering $25,000 in reward money. there has been three robberies in campbell over the past

analysts say investors were reacting to an earnings report. . apple shares right now are trading up -- still down slightly, down almost two dollars but are above 600 at 607 as they have been trading above 600 for the past three months. the all time high, $705 a share set last month that was the day the i-phone went on sale in the united states. some evidence -- more evidence that high tech jobs in silicon valley are expanding. many high tech companies are now looking at new office space in north san jose and santa claire a. the area still has potential for growth and lower rent than much of the rest of the valley. the paper said investors have bought up a lot of office buildings and the space could translate to 20,000 new tech jobs in the city.

. the economy expanded at a 2% yearly rate but the markets still weighed down by more weak easternings. the nasdaq up eight. critics of a proposed soda tax in richmond have a strong financial advantage in to the election. campaign finance reports show more than $2.4 million has been spent in recent months to defeat measure n. in if passes richmond voters could be the first in the nation to impose a penny per ounce tax on businesses that sell sodas. the campaign supporting has spent only about $42,000.
