that deadly situation caused by huricane sandy and as many as 3,000 are being evacuated from bergen new jersey. now they are saying a bermuda overflowed and people have climbed on to their rooftops trying to get away from floodwaters. look as it on as you -- houses away from the jersey shore. they have caed them to be put on alert and this is not causing a public safety risk right now. then there is new york city especially hit hard by the big storm. hurricane force winds caused a facade in the chills i neighborhood and high winds left that, a crane is dangling in midtown manhattan and we

are not sure when the subway service will return. a woman was forced to abandon ship in rough waters off the coast of carolina. 14 other crew members were rescued yesterday from the h ms bounty but a woman was pulled from the water and later died at the hospital. it has been featured in several films. they have shut them down for a second day and coming up how the capital is coping. volunteers are lending a hand to relieve efforts. red cross sent us these pictures from the delaware coast and now she flew out three days ago and at times she has been visiting shelters and preparing supplies for the days

ahead. >> the roads are opened and we can go into communities where we will be delivering meals and snacks and continuing to operate the shelters in those communities. >> she tells us she also helped with relief efforts and it is time now to respond to sandy. the state denied their plan to split millions of dollars. sal legs -- alex savage is here to tell you why the legal fight is not over yet. schools here in the south bay, at issue millions of dollars in redevelopment funds and both sides have worked out an agreement but the state has worked out a deal.

they are certainly disappointed but it is still set to open on the other side. but the unify the district is open. they are ready to earn $45 million and they were earmarked as stadium officials are putting some of that money towards schools. they were open to the idea and an agreement was reached in august to split up the funds. they scrapped the redevelopment agencies and local schools and governments are planning next month for the state to overturn that decision and we will not get a final decision as this will all be worked out until

rain on thursday. i would say it will be here tomorrow and it certainly has no place to go but look at the size of the system on the east coast. i mean from the north all the way to the great lakes, it is wobbling towards the west and it is so massive. a little bit warmer than that what it was and it will bring us rain late wednesday more likely into thursday and you can see our cloud rain forecast and it is holding off on that rain but it simply runs into a wall and it will crawl into the northern part of the state late wednesday into thursday and temperatures are still nice. upper 50s to near 60 degrees and it will be gone usually it

. he tried to board a flight to japan last week. he was arrested and taken to the hospital, authorities say the man does not live in the bay area but that he is a u.s. resident. the state appeals court ruled judges can ban the use of medical marijuana as a use of probation for anybody selling marijuana. they have upheld it by the supreme your court -- superior court of new jersey judge and that judge blocked an antioch man during three years of

probation for selling marijuana. here in california, we have been paying less for gasoline this week. 26 cents a gallon less. the state area price, $4.14 and san francisco $4.48. stockton modesto, prices have fallen below $4 per gallon. and now the storm has caused them to stop production. and the damage was caused by huricane sandy and a half a million people have lost electricity and the government is shut down and danger widespread. scott mcfarland has more on where the rain is still falling, scott? it is more like an arctic wind and it got colder, temperatures are in the lower 40s but there is a windchill

teacher. and the principal broke the law by not reporting the teacher to police after the child came forward. three months later, another child reported being molested by the teacher. that child's mother called police. he goes on trial and faces misdemeanor charges. he face is up to 25 years in prison after calling lay lay. they announced a guilty issue and they believe the child of giselle esteban was having an affair with michelle le. her remains were found several days later. breast cancer screenings

. today they are scheduled to vote on whether they can clean up the city's homeless camps. now city officials say there are dozens of homeless camp happens causing trash and safety concerns and others are saying homeless are not receiving enough help. they need up to $1 million to clean up through june. a san francisco bartender found a prototype of a new smart phone. he said a google employee left the phone at a 500 club but when he sent a security officer to pick it up, he was threatened with arrest. google offered him a free phone if he promised not to tell the media about it. he sold photos of it instead.

information as soon as it comes in. millions of gallons of raw sewerage is flowing into a community in maryland. they say it is due to a power outage and $2 million of raw sewerage is leaking every hour certainly dangerous situation there. it is expected to move across pennsylvania today before taking a sharp turn into western new york and that means at least two more days of heavy rain and we'll see hurricane katrina forced winds throughout the day. we knew it would make a dangerous storm and it has knocked out power to us. >> new york city subway system

rivered extensive damage and it is still unclear when they will be able to open. they have destroyed a raging fire in queens new york. it's still burning in breezy point and this is on the rockaway peninsular. flooding from super storm sandy slowed down the firefighters and also they had a problem with water pressure to put the fire out. 200 firefighters still have to check if anybody has been killed or trapped. it will take awhile to get the power back on to millions who have lost power. they are helping now to get the lights back on. the huge storm is affecting people here, hundreds of flights out of the bay area has been there and we will tell you

what you need to know if you plan to catch a plain this morning, allie? >> reporter: he said the situation at the airport is a little better than it was yesterday. they had 150 major flights canceled and if you take a look at the board there are still some canceled flights but the total is 115 canceled flights in and out of fso so that is a slight improvement. we found many people were forced to spend the night because of the impact. many had lay officers and did not remember about their flights being canceled until they arrived at fso. >> it is not easy, yesterday morning i flew in from china to

canceled all campaign dates. mitt romney has also reworked his campaign schedule and mitt romney has changed an appearance in ohio this morning from a campaign rally to a storm relief event. time now san francisco police he investigating a homicide in the mission district. police say a young man was shot and died an hour later. it is still not clear what led up to that deadly gunfire. oakland police say a late night san dove ended immediately. they had a report of a man in cans street. no arrests have been made and police have not told us what prompted this accident. antolin garcia-torres was arrested in may in connection

deadly sound for some of us san franciscans. not deadly, but, as you drive out to the mcarthur maze, in fact the fog is lifted earlier this morning and now it has been moving around and we can see all the way up the golden gate racetrack and steve was right to say let's not worry about it so much. the metering light is backed up for a 20 minutes delay but that's not unusual. as we push to the livermore valley, it gets better by the time you reach 680. let's go to steve. some areas have fog and some areas don't have any fog

at all. it has prompted a dense fog advisory by the national weather service until 9:00 and most locations say fog. a couple say cloudy and most say fog but it is down on the deck. and here is a very good looking system out here. it is moving, has two speeds and it is slow in stops. i will show you in just a second. yesterday even a low livermore 81. 727 in santa rosa and -- 72 in santa rosa and 72 in san francisco. this system is still moving back towards the west and the great lakes and northeast and blizzard warnings are

throughout west virginia. it has a lot of energy and it's going to be moving very slowly and our testimony is moving slowly as well. it is trying. 60s and 70s on the temperatures and it will be sunny after this fog burns off. it will be okay but there are some low clouds around. very similar to what we are seeing, that is offshore an extended has rain and here we go with your weekend already in view, hurricane sandy shows a look at some of the damage with significant flooding, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, well it's cold here in virginia beach and breezy as well and it is also calm and clear and that's a relief for folks in

this region. they have got more than 9 inches of rain and the ground is waterlogged and there is flooding in low-lying areas and power outages is something they are dealing with all over this region. they have wide range conditions including flooding fires and snow. a record 13-foot storm surge has left much of the area flooded. utility crews were forced to shut off power and have left thousands in the dark. they also had to be evacuated after many of them failed. >> the storm created a mass section of the its famed boardwalk that was destroyed. and in parts of connecticut, the state's government is

giants fans are expected for the parade in san francisco which starts at 11:00 a.m. cal train, bart will run more, more often and they are setting records during the last victory parade in 2010. they rejected a plan to split the money between the 49ers and south bay schools. the agreement missed a cut off deadline to a sign that money. so next months' school said they will challenge that ruling. and super storm sandy is causing more cancellations and delays and several passengers spent the night and san francisco airport spent the night because of those canceled flights so check your status before you head out to the airport. and chris will be reporting

on the millions who lost power. they are trying to get the lights back on including crews sent there from northern california. >> problems are complicating the effort to restore electricity and 1.5 million are without power in the united states. they are expected to make a final ruling on whether the pipeline explosion can seek punitive damages. the pipeline blast killed several people and destroyed 38 homes. more than 50 lawsuits have been filed against pg&e. they are attempting to settle the claims but they could decide on larger punitive damages if the cases go to trial. a strong earthquake hit the west coast which was an after shot on saturday.

the 6.2 after shock followed the 7.7 quake and that one prompted a tsunami warning in southern california. both are located off the queen charlotte islands. there was 6.3 in that same general area on sunday. back here at home, all lanes in what -- sonoma are closed because of a deadly accident which happened before 9:00 in the sea ranch area. chp said a car went over the road and burst into flames. the driver was pronounced dead at the scene and nobody else was hurt. let's check in with sal for traffic, sal? pam and dave, we have had some fog moving around the area and some areas are foggy and it's changing out to the toll

plaza, there is a backup which -- there is a backup which started early and you can see traffic is getting through at a normal clip. 880 looks pretty good as you drive passed the coliseum and traffic looks good if you are driving on the san mateo bridge and on the south bearings it looks good, pockets of traffic is moving into sunny veil. we have a dense fog advisory, some locations are clear, you can bear clay see across the street or even worse for some. visibility can be about zero but 9:30 it starts to lift and clear and cool it will be mostly sunny and a few may filter into the north bay with mostly 70s. we have a new impressive system

passed through, operators agreed stay open but they will stay open for tomorrow for electronic trading. workers are feeling the affects of the storm and for nearly six months they have watched the value of their stocks decline and u.s. markets are remaining closed so they will have to wait longer to sell. a woman from san leandro was arrested in connection with a shooting that critically injured a man. he shot a man early sunday morning outside of a halloween party. the 21-year-old shooting victim was defending his girlfriend who was touched inappropriately by the suspect. later on sunday, they arrested the suspect and a woman in san leandro. you know it was a big hit on social media and local
