i'm beth troutman. it's time to start sharing all the great videos we found for you, "right this minute." it's all good as a roller coaster goes blasting down the tracks. until this happens. why that was the end of that fun ride. he may look like a happy pup, but charlie -- >> is in danger of losing his family and life. >> hear what put him on doggy death row and why there's a crusade to get him off. >> the wild chase of a kidnapping suspect finally comes to an end as cops respond with deadly force. were the officers justified? hear what investigators decided. plus, who needs a remote

controlled watermelon? who doesn't? and a guy sets a mouse trap in his basement but -- >> the mouse trap is not working. >> see how he keeps trying while they keep talking. >> like an idiot with a tray filled with peanut butter. these rides always look sketchy to me. they're sort of the alpine slides, miniature roller coasters were you're going down on a small track. this is from a popular tourist attraction in vietnam and looks like a blast, until this happens. >> they fell off the track. >> the guy that we're riding with had his camera going and he sees a car up ahead of him. he slows down. the person behind them in their personal roller coaster car doesn't slow down enough and drills into the back of him. that sends that guy off into the weeds. apparently there are sensors on the track supposed to trigger the brakes automatically in certain parts of the track. either those brakes didn't work

or the sensor failed. either way not a fun day at the park. >> if you give somebody any kind of control on this kind of ride, this kind of thing is going to happen. >> you can't! or at least tell them not to eat the hamburger before they go on the ride, you know. don't eat the burrito. >> the all you can eat vietnam buffet. >> do it after the ride. . i want you guys to meet charlie. he is an american staffordshire terrier. this is in san francisco. that is where charlie lives. charlie is in danger of losing his family and his life. charlie was taken to a park where animals are allowed to run off leash. he got into an incident. police say charlie attacked a horse with a cop on his back. because he is a pit bull, charlie has been taken from his owner. >> oh, wow. that's a big gouge on the

horse's thigh. >> the dog went after a horse with a cop on it. >> yes. >> oops. >> this is charlie's owner. he's really disappointed. >> i'm a little nervous but i'm trying to be optimistic. >> ktvu talked to the owner of charlie before a hearing where police were going to hear from the park's officer that was involved in the incident and the dog's owner. >> he was just completely covered by gashes, blood. the dog chased my horse for 1.6 miles. that's unheard of. >> this incident happened making it really hard to argue in the favor of this dog in this particulars case. >> what the owner was saying is that you have farm animals like a horse in an area where dogs domesticated animals are playing and he thinks it could have been any dog that could have done this to this horse. >> what's happening to charlie now? >> according to causes.com that has a page set up to support charlie, unless charlie gets a

reprieve he could be put down by the end of the month. a high-speed police chase in shreveport, louisiana, ended in a police shoot-out. this video from the officer's dash cam. this incident happened back in october. police are chasing a back sedan driven by donnie ray plater. the incident started when witnesses saw him push a woman into his car at gunpoint. that woman turned out to be his estranged wife. eventually this car slows down and pulls off to the side of the road. >> oh. >> police heard shots coming from the car. that's when donnie ray plater got out of the vehicle. officers say plater has a weapon in his hand at this point when they see him get out of the car. this is what happened next. this video just being released after the police investigation has been completed clearing the officers of any wrongdoing in this situation. the investigation uncovered that donnie ray plater shot his estranged wife cindy johnson during this chase at some point.

that's when plater got out of the car and -- >> is she -- she didn't survive? wow. you can see the way he gets out of the car. it's almost defiant. he knew what he was doing and he knew he probably knew what the outcome was going to be. he just didn't care at that point. i really feel for the cops because they have to do this. this is what they have to face every day. >> this happened in october. the officers involved in the shooting are still on paid administrative leave. . talk about a real life inferno. this video is from saudi arabia. you see a trail of fire and more fire. this was the crash involving a tanker full of gasoline and as you can see, it left a trail of fire. >> it looks like this goes on for yards and yards and yards. >> it goes on for a really long

time. there's another video of the same incident which shows just how big this crash was. >> i bet you that tanker ruptured and just took a long time for it to come to a stop all thewhile,iroad. >> and the smoke that it's causing and filling the skies of this part of saudi arabia. >> you know, i thought it was nighttime until we got to this one scene with all the smoke. >> no. it's just all covered in black smoke and that's what it looks like it's night. >> it's a horrible accident but a spectacular sight. i'm afraid that people get hurt too? >> some people did suffer minor injuries. one of the drivers involved did not survive the accident. >> you don't see trails of fire like that except in a war zone. >> storm's over. now time to dig out the car. >> this is fun. >> see how long the fun lasts, next. >> and hold on tight when you're riding the carpet. >> oh, man. he bit

christian, it seems like this, that made me move to a warmer climate. i hate digging out snow. this guy has about looks to me two feet of snow covering his bmw. he set up his camera and a time lapse to watch himself go through the process of deicing his bmw. >> this seems fun, though. >> what? >> no. >> have you ever done it? >> never. it looks really cool. and during christmas time it seems like a really fun thing to do. >> let me tell you how unfun this is. it takes him ten minutes to even get the door of his car open. to get the snow off the car, an hour. does that sound like fun shoveling snow for an hour. >> not if i have to do it. >> right. >> it is cool to see how challenging living in snow is. can you imagine, you're in a hurry, running late to work and you come out and your car is covered in snow. >> in certain parts of the vehicle he taking his shovel and

cuts the snow into blocks there. the door seams, the jam around the door is frozen. to see him pound on the door jam to break the ice to open the door. your battery might go dead. i don't miss this at all. . >> not too long ago i showed you this video from a florida juvenile deit tension center. you saw one of the supervisors take one of the 15-year-old girls from one of the classrooms and slam her against a wall and then body slam her to the ground and lay on her for about 20 minutes. at the time i said, that supervisor had been charged with a misdemeanor battery charge. well i have an update on this case. after investigating this, authorities determined that battery charge was not adequate so her charges were upgraded to felony child abuse. >> whoa. >> she is now facing five years in prison because of this incident. >> we didn't know what triggered this incident, but it still looked pretty bad for a

15-year-old to be handled in that regard. >> the florida department of juvenile justice decided that they were going to end their contract with the milton girls juvenile detention center, so all the youths that have been at this facility will now be relocated to a different facility. >> this woman's behavior ended up affecting everyone who works at this detention center. >> that is correct. they are considering other charges if they're wanted once the investigation continues. . corgi puppy attack. >> ouch. >> i got a fun sleigh riding video. this is in saudi arabia with a family of kids and teens about to go for a magic carpet ride of sorts. they've got it tied to either a truck or some sort of off-road vehicle and everybody's piled on to this carpet and it seems to be working quite well. they're having a good time. at first, everybody is all huddled on to the carpet and things are going all right. >> i think the carpet is a little overloaded. >> it is. because it doesn't take long before the speeds get a little higher and people start to just go flying off into the sand. >> i so want to try this. >> it does look like fun, doesn't it? >> i do. that looks like fun. >> there goes one guy, he falls off. during this entire video people fall off. as the car comes back around, you see people run and jump back on to the carpet. and the laughter of this thing, listen to these people have a great time. they dropped people out in the if you remember where you fell off or your buddy fell off, you're stuck. >> that's why you want to wear white. >> a long walk back to the camp. >> a trip to tiger beach in the bahamas turned very interesting for one guy. take a look at this video. it was captured by thomas, but his friend kirk posted it. let's just say his friend alex met a very cranky shark. a tiger shark to be specific. he's down into the water. he's got a video camera and he's walking on the bottom. and this tiger shark is like you know what, i'm not interested in you being here. look what he does. >> oh. >> he's going after alex's fins on his feet. >> at what point do you say, hey, i get the lint, i'm out of here? >> if there's an injury, blood starts seeping into the water, guess what the sharks are going to do. they're going to pick the limbs. >> i like how he has a fish

[ male announcer ] only from at&t. squad left behind the bunny slopes long ago. here they are in alaska and they're doing what's called speed flying, which is a small air foil like parachute over their heads, skis on their feet, and they basically fly down these mountains, just skipping over parts of the snow. >> the parts without the rocks. >> parts without the rocks. it's spectacular.

we've seen these speed flying videos before and i can't get enough of them. they meld skiing and flying together in such a beautiful art form. the scenery is spectacular. the snow conditions unbeatable. >> they are places where there are no tracks in the snow, like nobody has been there yet. it's gorgeous stuff. >> if you're going to alaska to do this kind of stuff you're not going to a ski resort. you're going into the back country. here they are whip by these rocks and able to ski on stuff you wouldn't be able to get to or get out of if not for the parachute. >> of all the radio controlled things you probably thought you would see, i bet this one never crossed your mind. >> i already know i want one and i don't know what it is. >> it's a radio-controlled watermelon. >> yep. want it. >> yep. as you can see, that is just the shelf the watermelon insides have been cleaned out. hopefully they all enjoyed a nice watermelon. and then they took parts from a

radio-controlled airplane to create this. apparently what they did was reverse the direction of the propeller. which would then give it its little push. >> like an air boat. >> yeah. it was created by the guys at starting electronics. they do have a how-to, step-by-step guide on their website and their whole thing is teaching people who are curious, the how-tos on how to do it. >> do they say how they waterproof the hole for the rutter? >> here's the thing. apparently the watermelon did take on some water and it -- >> oh. >> the equipment did end up getting wet, so it burned. they and they do promise a video with the autopsy. >> not a long-term toy. >> no. . >> got some interesting animals in the set o vios for you.
