the 26-year-old man worked in construction and was one of two people killed yesterday at the intersection. ktvu obtained this video of the crash. it began after he fired a gun at three people at housing complex. investigators say he fled in this black car and struck a white car. the passenger in the car was killed. he was struck and killed by the car. [ speaking foreign language ] >> reporter: one of 7 brothers and sisters. surveillance videos shows the car smashing into the store. police are charging him with two counts of murder, three counts of attempted murder and being a felon in possession of a fire arm and gang enhancement charges. >> i felt for everybody.

a small rock slide caused headaches today in the mountains. one lane of the highway was shut down after rocks tumbled on to the road. they reopened the lane about 2:00 p.m. this afternoon. cold weather and old pipes are blamed for the biggest water main break. ktvu's alex savage has more on the mess and the big convenience for businesses in the area today. >> reporter: water started pouring from the roadway around 3:30 a.m. this morning flooding the intersection. it took crews 4 hours just to shut off the water. the break happened where the lines connect. he says recent rain and cold temperatures may have contributed to the mess. >> the soil is saturated. with the cold it is expansion

and contraction of the soil and that causes old mains to break sometimes. we have had several small breaks all over town. this is the biggest one we have had. >> reporter: crews spent the morning digging down and vacuuming out water to look at the damage. workers will have to replace the section that burst. while that happens there is no running water for homes and businesses nearby, that is making it tough to prepare food. and here, the sign let customers know the lack of water forced the place to close. >> little bit. all right, though. go someplace else. >> reporter: one of the pipes involved is a cast iron line from 1927. the city was already looking at an upgrade before this happened. >> this is one pipe that was on schedule for us to replace in the next two years so now it is
